  1. Our performances have been very poor and we're on an 11-game winless streak. The manager has persisted with a system and tactics that very few people are convinced by, and we continue to struggle to score goals. Plus, last year our defence was quite tight, but this year we've seen players repeatedly played out of position and our defence has suffered as a result. It's a damning indictment of the quality of the league that we're not worse off, tbh. But this is always the way in the Scottish top flight - if any team in the lower order can string a few good results together, then they can invariably climb the league quite easily. Whether we can find the goals to do that remains to be seen.
  2. This is what gives me confidence. Why would we go to the trouble of bringing an absolute jobber half way round the world? Seems extreme if he's not really showing up well in trials. Of course, the flip side is Jim's record for signing mediocre strikers, so who knows what we're getting here.
  3. We seem to have spent ages looking at him, so there must be something about him. Wil be interesting to see what he brings. Can we all just note the "ei" spelling if his name, though. Let's not have another 'Morais' debacle.
  4. Enthusiasm fairly low for this one? I feel like it's taken ages to come around, and now it's here I don't feel that fussed. Hoping I can get a decent stream for it but won't hold my breath. I've also no clue who we have got fit and available. Word is Brophy might be back. I hope Erhahon is too. I want to see a return to the 3-6-1 that saw us pick up our only three wins of the campaign. I just hope all our new signings have had enough time to gel.
  5. I'm still reeling from Dundee United nicking Jake Doyle Hayes from us: it'd be too much to take to see him and McGrath lining up together for United.
  6. RG is divisive but he clearly puts the work in and clearly isn't just trawling Youtube when he comes out with this stuff. It's honestly a bit fucking bizarre. When the posts appeared I glanced at his profile assuming it was a bot but he's got 500+ posts. Weird.
  7. Quick prediction check-in... Seems he has now been linked with Birmingham City, so I was fairly close in terms of league placing. We are asking £350k, so I'm sticking with my 225+ sell-on prediction.
  8. Problem is, relatively few of the posters on here are responsible for making key scouting decisions at St Mirren FC.
  9. There's only one team going to be making a last-minute Hibs-esque dash to sign McGrath if these deals fall through...
  10. Yup. Shitehouse behaviour but agents gonna agent. This is what they did in the summer and were left high and dry (and hawking themselves to Hibs at the last minute) when a couple English teams pulled out. I guess they have time on their side this time; I just hope something can get done soon.
  11. https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/international/aberdeen-pull-plug-on-jamie-mcgrath-move-as-st-mirren-ace-considers-other-options-3529668 Scotsman article above, saying Dons have pulled out now.
  12. Absolutely no doubt in my mind his agent is at it here. It's his job, so that's fine, but the danger for Saints is we don't get this resolved in the window and are left with an unsettled player for the rest of the season. Or we get Kenny McLeaned and he leaves on the last day with no time to fill his slot in the squad. (I won't say replace as I don't think a like-for-like is 1) feasible and 2) what we need).
  13. It's a weird one. Jim clearly doesn't really think we need to add to the squad. He's said so a few times. Yeah, he's talked about more pace, but there isn't really a way to fit more pace into the system we play. If we were four wins better off in the league, nobody would bat an eyelid if we didn't do any business. But collective faith has been shaken and it's unsettling to think we can't find a way to improve on what we've seen so far this season. TBH, I wish McGrath had gone in the summer. I'm struggling to see an upside to him having stayed, tbh. And now I wish he would go now. He's a good lad and I hold no grudge, but he's become the main story at the club and we needed to be able to move on.
  14. I don't think it was yours that was spiked. @ZingaliMan FFS please have a read through the past five pages in the cold light of day mate.
  15. Fucking hell, I remember that guy being a twat on the old Saints online guestbook, circa 98-99ish. So if the was an alias, that's commitment. I'm pretty sure he is real, tbf.
  16. It's just a reflection of the general anxiety levels about at the moment, but people really have lost their heads.
  17. This guy might be a prospect, he might be worth a look. If we actually were just trying to sign some amateur-standard jobber, then dragging one across from the other side of the world seems a needlessly complicated way of doing things. We've obviously been tracking him for some time, so feel he's worth the effort. Either way, it's certainly not worth a huge meltdown over.
  18. Mind, the Courier has previous for that sort of thing. If there's a gun to be jumped...
