  1. He's in a struggling team; we all know we're dragging him down at the moment. My prediction is Aberdeen offer 125k + Kennedy. Hearts offer 200k. McGrath joins a lower Championship side - let's say Swansea - for 225k (undisclosed) and a 15% sell on.
  2. Harsh to blame him for failing to save Killie. If he signed for County, Livi or the Fakes I'd be concerned. I hope we're at least asking the question. He'll probably sign for Hearts now.
  3. Kyle Lafferty, (not Kevin Kyle, fucking idiot) appears to be available. Fucking hate that guy. He's a real p***k. Would take him in an instant.
  4. No need to hate to break it to me, I welcome the debate. However, I'd like to see it tried. We have given Brophy a foil - sometimes two - and it's not worked, so why not make him the foil? It'd change literally nothing about his game or how he likes to play. He and Henderson would provide the width and movement, and we'd have a striker in the box to pick up rebounds/crosses. My actual preference would be a back four but it's not happening so I'm looking at tweaks around the current system.
  5. Where is the creativity and supply coming from in the current line up? We're picking Ronan and McGrath every fucking week and they're doing nothing. We might as well stick attacking players in the positions that the defence are thumping the ball to week in, week out. At least this way we'd have some natural out balls and some options up front, and some people stretching the defence. I don't think CF is Brophy's natural position; he spends so much time wide/working the channels we might as well stick him there and put someone in the box who wants to be there. Brophy and Henderson would provide the width and the creativity, and Tanser would continue to do so. Re McGrath, yeah, you're right, I should have clarified that that was a notional XI based on him almost certainly leaving, and in response to people asking whether Gogic could play with Power. I should also have clarified that this would, in my view, be a better version of the back three system that Jim seems determined to play.
  6. I'll keep on banging this 3-4-3 drum, and it'd work with Gogic. Plus, the performances of Henderson in December plus the emergence of Jamieson gives us options across the front three that we didn't necessarily have before. This looks like a good, exciting line-up to me, and those two battlers in the middle are essential for protection because you lose the midfield without them in there. Fraser - Shaughnessy - Dunne Millar - Power - Gogic - Tanser Henderson - Jamieson - Brophy
  7. Thommo is reading that post and is absolutely livid. But your broad point stands.
  8. I feel we've been a bit slow to pick up players from the Champ in recent seasons. Perhaps because they're either standout performers - McKay, Nisbet - that we've got no chance of signing, or they're complete diddies. But both of those guys were showing potential long before the bigger teams were circling and I think we should be a bit braver in going for guys at that level. As you rightly say, it doesn't seem to fit Goodwin's strategy at the moment.
  9. We seem to be on a similar pattern - here's hoping we get the same spike.
  10. "Ooh, still loads of chat in our Rangers match thread... *clicks*... Oh. I see."
  11. It's all well and good for McGrath's agent to be hawking him around literally anywhere that'll take him in the final hours of the window, but it didn't pay off and now his player has been distracted, is playing poorly and is now arguably less likely to get the level of move that looked likely in the summer. TL;Dr f**k agents.
  12. We're the rumours true in the summer? I mean, it made no sense then and it doesn't now - he'd fit your system as well as he fits ours (Narrator's voice: he doesn't) - but he's the sort of player you can imagine managers might fancy their chances of getting the best out of.
  13. Time to take a breather, thank f**k. I want to praise the team for the last two games - a point and only -2 goal difference is significantly better than I expected. We could have been annihilated. But we were so poor yesterday (I only saw the second half, but I'm assuming I didn't miss much) and this winless streak is grim as f**k. Jim has acknowledged the lack of pace; he's said we have targets. But, for the millionth time, it's nigh-on impossible to fit pace into this system in any meaningful way. I had said previously that Jim could find himself under pressure by the turn of the year. The draw against Celtic and non-thrashing yesterday will have helped him, so he's definitely got until the end of the season. We have previously shown that we can be quite ruthless in these windows, but that was operating under different economic and social conditions. Plus, I don't believe the squad requires major surgery: we should be doing better with what we have. Plus, moving players on costs money. In an ideal world, we'd get rid of McAllister, Erwin, Main, Dennis, and maybe find a decent swap deal for McGrath. I'd take three better quality players in exchange for those five. I wonder if the Fakes would still be interested in Kyle? I'd be happy to let that happen now and they might be looking to roll a dice.
  14. Turned the game on, saw Power give the ball away on the edge of our box twice in quick succession, turned it off.
  15. What, just because he's thick as pigshit you assume he's an anti-vaxx... Oh, ok, yeah, carry on.
  16. Thing is, we don't count who's missing, we count who's left to play. If I lost two grand it'd affect me more than if Jeff Bezos lost two billion. It really shouldn't need explaining to anyone that teams of our size lack the strength in depth of bigger teams. Any team in the Scottish league that can lose 13 players and still field internationals needs to pipe the f**k down, IMHO.
  17. Started the game with no nerves because I assumed we were getting hammered. Felt pure sick from about 65mins on as it looked like we could get something. Absolute torture, but just like watching St Mirren.
  18. Really proud of that performance. Been pretty down about Saints recently; that was outstanding. Proper backs to the wall effort. Joe Shaughnessy was a colossus - MotM by a mile for me. How do Saints do this?
  19. I have never been more certain that a penalty is going to be awarded against us at some point. Decent first half showing, though.
  20. I think I built that into a bet builder. It reached the point where you couldn't increase the odds no matter what you added on.
  21. Yeah, I got on something similar last night. Free money. Actually they're still at 1/8 for the win. There aren't many investment opportunities returning a guaranteed 12.5% yield at the moment.
