  1. Still can’t comprehend why anyone thinks making the season null and void is their preferred option (with the exception of the four teams in the relegation spots). There are just no benefits to that scenario at all. Obviously playing the season would be the best way forward but it has a massive list of problems and is far from simple. Every other potential solution also has its problems- people need to understand that, not just spout the usual “it’s simple, just do this”. There isn’t a good solution for this, like Bill Clark says, we need to find the least worst solution and that is the one that disadvantages the smallest amount of clubs by the smallest amount.
  2. It’s not simple though. It’s incredibly difficult to sort out player contracts. It’s not really fair to have different squads to finish the season so do you mandate the players stay on? What if the club doesn’t want to keep them? What if they have a new club or just want to leave? Then you’re fucking up next season because it’s a short season so you can’t generate much revenue from your season tickets and you’ve also lost revenue from the cups. It’s the type of idea that sounds simple but when you actually think about the practicalities it’s not workable.
  3. So part-time employees shouldn’t be entitled to the help? (Or rather employers of part-time employees). What about wee Jeanie down the road that works a couple of mornings in the library and a Friday afternoon in the post office? You can’t exclude some occupations based on some sort of moral scale of which jobs deserve help.
  4. This is the problem with the old firm- because they are glory-hunting arseholes they think that every other football fan is too and we must support one of them as our ‘big team’ and therefor if something doesn’t suit them it’s because we favour the other one. What we should do is award Celtic the league and 9-in-a-row. Then kick them both out of the league. Celtic don’t get the chance for 10-in-a-row so that keeps Rangers happy. They can compete in a bigots league and play each other 36 times a season. We’ll promote two teams from every league and carry on as normal.
  5. Meaning what? Gone into administration? Can’t find anything online about it and there’s nothing on the Alloa thread on here.
  6. Don’t worry, it seems that the advice to teachers is to make their estimates ‘best case scenarios’ so doubtful that many kids will end up with worse results than they would have had they sat the exam.
  7. Semantics. It amounts to the same thing. Clubs have spent tens of thousands so far this season, supporters have spent hundreds, some players have suffered career threatening injuries. And you think the fairest thing is just to go “sorry lads, can we just pretend that didn’t happen and start again?” Of course Raith fans will be the strongest proponents of ending the season now. But had Falkirk or anyone else have been leading the league I’d have been pissed off and a bit bitter about it but I still think it would be the better solution than voiding the season. After all, the team that finishes in second wouldn’t get promoted, but they’d be in no worse a position than they would if the season was declared void. The only teams that could surely have a preference for voiding the season are those in the relegation spots. If there was any way of finishing this season before player contracts run out (or ensuring the same squads are maintained) then that is absolutely my preference, but if that’s not possible then the fairest way has to be to declare as-is. Whether you then do one up/one down or something more radical (eg two up and no relegation) would then be the next decision to be made.
  8. Still struggling to see how it’s fairer to ignore the 77% of the season that has been competed than the 23% of the season which has not.
  9. On the contrary, shows that our board have their fingers on the pulse and realise that this is going to be a difficult period for all football clubs at our level. Shows forward thinking and good management. I’d be more concerned if Raith were burying their head in the sand like your club appear to be doing.
  10. Sorry, I’m old school and too old/busy for any of that shit these days [emoji6]
  11. It’s going to be a long few months if we’re discussing champ man already. [emoji42]
  12. I had a post removed- presumably becuase I quoted the tube who was being a wee dafty. Maybe all of the above posts which reference the players name should be removed too?
  13. Common sense would have you believe that there would be such a clause. The threat of war or something similar isn't too outlandish a scenario to warrant thinking about and planning for. But then this is the SFA/SPFL so common sense doesn't necessarily apply.
  14. Where are you hearing this? Also, dinnae start on the all-seater stadium pish again please! You've been one of the most reasoned Falkirk posters, don't spoil it now
  15. My initial thoughts were similar to this- I thought resume this season when it is safe to do so (August? October? Who knows). Have a short break and then start the following seaosn but just have half a season. However, the problem with that is that you then have potentially a different squad of players for each team- maybe your best player signs for another team, maybe you can poach a big name on a short term deal to get you over the line. Far too many complications I think. If they can't get the remaining fixtures played by June when most players go out of contract then I don't think there's any realistic way of completing this season.
  16. Having thought about it overnight and discussed it with colleages, I think the only fair solution is what has been mooted by some others already; Promote the top two from each division. No relegation. Backfill the space in league two with the HL and LL champions. Season starts again in August as normal with the exception of the Premiership which now has two extra teams. Take the premier split after two rounds of fixtures (26 games) and then play a further two rounds after the split (12 games). Only problem being one team will have a free weekend each week as there are an odd number of teams in each half of the league. Celtic won't be happy as they may not be crowned champions. Hibs won't be happy as Hearts won't be relegated. It should suit nearly everyone else- there are no cases where the 3rd/4th place teams are really close to the top two. Yes in league one there is a chance of Airdie/East Fife/ Montrose coming second but chanes of them gaining promotion? Slim. Not ideal but probably the best all-round solution.
  17. Did anybody read that statement and manage NOT to put on a German accent in your head?
  18. It’s relating to the English game, but it doesn’t seem like there’s an appetite to void the season from either the blazers or the clubs. Coronavirus: How will the suspension affect football in Britain? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51876162
  19. Now that Scottish clubs are starting to announce players self-isolating and showing symptoms (although no confirmed cases yet) I don’t think closed doors games will be happening either.
  20. You’re right of course. No precedent for any of this mess, which is what makes it so difficult. I think we’re both of a similar mindset and agree that somehow finishing the season is the only fair solution. But our different shades of blue-tinted specs make us differ on what’s the best course of action if that isn’t possible. It is mental to suggest promotion based on 75% of a season. But it’s even more mental to suggest pretending 75% of a season just didn’t happen. It’s understandable you want to forget the first half of this season never happened but I’m afraid it did.
  21. Christ, we can’t even agree amongst ourselves. Obviously the best solution is to somehow finish the season. But 78% of the games have been played. How is voiding the results of those games a fair outcome? That’s an even more crazy shout in the other divisions where there are run-away leaders.
  22. It’s not fair or ideal to call the season now but I’m not sure that voiding the season is any more fair. Especially to Dundee United or Cove. There’s precedent in sport to call a result if the competition is stopped after a certain percentage has been completed. For example in formula one if I think 70% of the laps have been completed and there is a red flag they will award full points. It’s obviously a different scenario but we are dealing with a completely unprecedented situation. Whatever is decided will be unfair in some way. I don’t envy those trying to decide what to do.
  23. According to the Falkirk fans of the other thread that’s a “bonkers opinion”. They have the better goal difference and are bookies favourites don’t you know.
  24. We are top when the league was stopped and top at any other point in the season when we’d all payed the same teams the same number of times. If the powers that be do decide to award the league, how is it bonkers to suggest that it’s Raith who should be awarded it? You think it should be awarded on who’s got the bigger goal difference or who is the bookies favourite? Think that’s the definition of clutching at straws mate.
  25. From a selfish point of view, as Raith fans we have to be happy they’ve stopped it now. We’re top now, we were top after the second round of games and top after the third round of games. If they decide to abandon the rest of the season and award the league titles then there is no conceivable way they could give it to anyone else but us. Who knows what they’ll end up doing but at least we’re in a favourable position.
