  1. Raith chairman stated today they’ll vote against. EDIT- might have picked up the quote in the paper wrong- they’ll vote against “Hearts proposal”. I took that to mean the 14-10-10-10 as I thought the 14-14-14 had already been thrown out. Might not be the case though and maybe it’s just the three 14s we’re against.
  2. The two smartest tops in the division there [emoji1360]
  3. f**k sake. So it really is a case of Budge saying “as long as Hearts are ok, I don’t give a shiny shite what happens in the other leagues”. Farcical that someone with such a vested interest should be allowed to chair the committee on reconstruction. Although as others have said, there is no real appetite for reconstruction other than to stop relegations so it’s no surprise.
  4. Do you really think the league structure will change without a corresponding change in the prize money distribution? (That’s a genuine question btw, not an “omg you’re so stupid” question- difficult to get that across in written format). As you say, there’s a massive drop between bottom of one league and top of the next one down- surely there’s absolutely no chance that anyone would think it reasonable to keep that sort of step change based on an arbitrary number of teams that were in the league under a previous structure?
  5. I can see us being bottom until at least October. Hopefully find our feet after that though [emoji1360]
  6. I wonder more often what would have happened if we’d scored in the 89th minute and gone up as champions. How long would we have had to put up with Smiths boring football in the championship?
  7. Not sure what’s so confusing. Those two posts are not contradictory. It’s a shite idea. My first post said I wasn’t sure if it would work. The point of it was that you couldn’t dismiss it on the grounds that people wouldn’t pay to see meaningless games which is what Shadwell was saying. Hence pointing out that people pay to watch (meaningless) friendlies every year.
  8. Just for the avoidance of doubt, I’m not advocating that at all. It’s a shite idea. RandomGuy suggested it (and I don’t think even he was particularly serious) and I don’t think anyone else has jumped on it as being a good idea. Shadwell and Sarge just annoyed me with their “you’re so stupid, I know best” routine.
  9. Ah, semantics about what constitutes “plenty of people” at a lower league Scottish football game. [emoji849] Thanks for pointing out that games which mean something have relatively higher attendances than those that don’t. I, and I’m sure many others reading the forum, had never made that correlation.
  10. Care to explain what has exasperated you so much in that post? I wasn’t advocating Randomguys suggestion. Shadwell stated people wouldn’t pay for games that mean nothing. I pointed out they do so every season. And that’s without the incentive of it being either that or you don’t see your team play for ten months.
  11. Aye but the signings made in the January window made the difference and it’s well known that they weren’t affordable. Anyway, it’s water under the bridge. As someone else said no point going over it again. I think you’re mostly gid c***s, just like *most* of us are gid c***s.
  12. I think the reason Raith fans get wound up and still hold a grudge about the admin is the fact that the overspending which lead to the admin cheated us out of promotion. If we’d been sitting fourth or fifth that season then I don’t think we’d be as bothered. Having said that, most Raith fans don’t hate Dunfermline either. If my family had been from 10miles along the road I’d probably have been one of you lot- we’re all just wee team fans hoping we get a wee run and maybe a promotion. Looking forward to going to EEP next season and a bit of friendly banter. f**k the Pars though.
  13. Like a friendly you mean? Plenty of punters turn out to see clubs play meaningless games every pre-season. I don’t imagine the attendances would be earth shattering but for a Raith fan who hasn’t seen their team play in 6 months a ‘friendly’ against Forfar suddenly would seem quite appealing. I don’t know if the idea would work but you couldn’t dismiss it on the grounds that people wouldn’t pay to see games with no prize to play for.
  14. The club doesn’t have to top up the 20% of their wages though. Give anyone the choice of being made redundant with almost zero chance of finding new employment or taking 80% of their wages for another couple of months and there’s no choice to be made. We, as mere punters, never know the full goings on inside clubs. And I wouldn’t single out Dunfermline if others are doing the same but I definitely feel more comfortable that my club seems to be doing the ‘correct thing’ from a moral point of view.
  15. Surprising that Dunfermline fans are defending the position of their club when it’s now obvious that the position taken by Raith (and presumably others) is possible. I wonder if they’d be defending their employers if they’d made them redundant instead of using the furlough scheme?
  16. The hassle/expense of the admin? Not having cash to pay the wages before claiming back? As I said a few pages back though, if it turns out that certain clubs do extend the contracts of players, even though they intend to release them before next season, and certain clubs don’t, that’s bound to build a reputation among players of which club will look after you as a player, and perhaps influence who you will sign for.
  17. Yes, the statement (which was made in our player of the year awards ceremony video) was made before the chancellors latest update to the scheme as far as I remember. I’d need to watch it again but I’m sure he mentioned short-term extensions as if it wouldn’t be a problem. And he did also caveat with something along the lines of “as long as the scheme continues in it’s current format”. So yeah, I’d expect Raith to offer short term extensions to all players until the end of July, and thus ensure they’ll get 80% of their wages at no cost to the club. I can’t understand why any club wouldn’t do that to be fair.
  18. Raith chairman has explicitly stated that Raith will be extending the contracts of all players, regardless of whether they want to re-sign them for next season, so that they can have an income for as long as the furlough scheme exists.
  19. I remember after the third went in against Hibs just thinking “is this real? Are we really three up and cruising against Hibs in the premier league?” Halcyon days.
  20. If you’re going to try and get bites at least make the bait reasonably believable.
  21. Good to hear Bill Clark mention that if the furlough scheme is extended, we’ll be looking to extend the contracts of all of our staff, even those out of contract, so that they can continue to be paid while uncertainty remains in the game. It’s the type of thing (along with looking after our injured players) that will help build our reputation as a club that players want to play for.
  22. Absolutely mental that any football club (at this level anyway) is signing players when we have absolutely no idea when the next time is that a ball will he kicked.
  23. Judging by the last couple of pages on this thread I’m delighted to be leaving league one behind....
  24. They don’t win promotion by winning their league. They earn a playoff spot. If they win that playoff spot, they get another playoff spot. Only if they win that do they get promotion.
