I'll leave it and see how it goes this year. I'll be able to tell what sort of nick it's going to be in once the new growth comes on. I basically had to half it in size because a lot of it had died. It won't really spoil anything in the garden because it's an old well established garden anyway with plenty of stuff in it. Most of which is being systematically ruined by the kids.

My garden has a high wall right round it and it didn't even seem to help the poor bugger. Probably just bad luck with this one. I'll see how much new growth comes on to it this spring and if it's deemed unnacceptable then it's getting cut for firewood. I'll maybe see if there are any better types for hardiness. I'm sure there must be some that handle the weather better than others.

I had one that was doing well for five or six years but it took wind damage last year and I had to prune off a lot of dead wood. I've been left with a stumpy piece of bonsai shite now. It's going to be left in this year to see how it does but if it still looks shit it's getting binned. I thought I'd put it in a sheltered spot as well... I really like Jap maples once they are established. Nice looking wee trees.

They will be. It's doubtful that any of it will become public in the short term though. I'm sure our secret services will be well aware of who did what and to whom. Federer was majestic today. Some of the angles he makes are outrageous. Murray didn't serve well enough in the first set and I'm not even that sure how much difference it would have mae anyway. I don't think Federer was in any mood to be beaten out there. A real pity actually but Murray did keep battering away at it when he could easily have chucked it. Federer was just too good.

Keeps him out the way of the fitba. No bad thing!

Federer will win this I'm sure. I hope Murray can lift his game to the heights needed to make a game of it though. And if he does then he has a chance. Federer just stamped on Tsonga earlier today though and he looks in brilliant nick just now. Unfortunately. Hopefully the Federer that ballsed it up against Del Potro in the US Open final will turn up. But it looks highly unlikely.

Great win against a tough opponent. Cilic was playing very well in the first set and at the start of the second too. Murray had to work him out and he didn't read his serve very well at first. Cilic will be a great player though. He has a good all round game. I liked the way Murray also dropped the speed of his first serve a little bit to get more balls in court and protect his shitty second serve from getting raped. He will need to serve very well in the final to have any sort of chance. Hopefully he will be playing Federer and can give him a tough match.

Yes. Murray is game smart enough to know when it's a good play to get into the net. He is one of the smarter tennis players around and needs to use that to his advantage. Cilic is a very good player when he is in the sort of form he is showing just now. But this is a huge chance to make the final.

In the previous round Murray dropped the speed of his first serve in an effort to prevent the American from being able to latch onto his shite second serve. I'm sure he might do the same with Cilic too. His first serve percentage was up around 70% which is where he will need it to be to win this tournament. Murray can rally it out with anyone but if he is exposing that second serve too much he will suffer.

Of course not. At this stage of a tournament the players still there are all in form anyway. Cilic is going to be another right good player and looks like he is ready to challenge now for the majors. I like the way the guy plays and again Murray will need to play smart to beat him. Something that the likes of Roddick isn't so good at. Murray does tend to work out his opponents better than most of them. Should be a great semi though. I lke the way Murray is coming in to the net a lot more now. He is a good volleyer and should be making use of that when he can.

Can't really argue with that result. Murray did take the game to Nadal in the first couple of sets and he attacked more than previously. Felt sorry for Nadal the way it ended but the chances are that his knees are going to gripe away at him the rest of his career. A real shame for the boy. Murray has looked in really good nick the whole tournament so far. Playing Cilic is a great chance to make the final now.

Nadal isn't yet playing the tennis he was before his injury lay off and other troubles off the court. But Murray will still have to be playing his best tennis to beat him. It's still a bit of a toss up as to who will win. As HB said it will come down to whoever takes advantage on the day. Murray is certainly capable of winning this one but Nadal is not exactly a mug is he? Jeezo Nadal is one of the best players ever to wield a racquet and folk are getting ready to stick the boot in to Murray if he gets beaten? If Del Potro could manage to win a major then no reason why Murray can't either. Del Potro took advantage of a bit of a misfiring Federer on the day and thats maybe what it will take for Murray to do it. He has so far not ha the luck of meetig a misfiring player in a major final ffs. He may never as well. Monty had severe bottle crash issues and its not clear yet whethere Murray is in a similar vein yet. Give him a chance ffs.

Once Murray started reading the guys serve a bit better he was in little trouble really. The big yank has his colossal first serve and thats about it really. It will still be enough to give him the odd big win against top guys though. Murray played him really well I thought. Took pace of his own serve to get better angles and generally ran the big guy around as much as he possibly could. Isner was actually trying to get in behind his serve and get to the net quite a bit though. If his volleying had been any good at all he would probably have been troubling Murray more. I didnt mind watching the game though. Isner and that other big stookie heid nadal beat would be a pretty tough match to watch I think:lol:

I took the kids a walk down the beach today. We walked about four miles and I had to carry them the last mile. They are sitting round the fire now playing video games and they hate my guts! But they will sleep tonight.

Its snowing quite heavily here. So I don't think the ten foot commute to work will be manageable today.
