I'm going to hammer the upgrade process today and hopefully complete a few Serie A upgrades before they expire. A couple more TOTS would be good. Then I'll leave the game largely alone for a few days to get a rest from it ahead of Ultimate TOTS starting next week.

I'd imagine playing it docked will make it look like shit boosted up onto a big screen. Handheld will likely look a lot better. Just a question of how it'll play, particularly as things start to get busy.

The "trailer" they put out was in-engine, and you could see they've cut a few corners (you could also see plenty of corners too on those textures...) but I trust that CDPR would put out a decent enough product given the love they've put into the main edition. I'm happy to accept the graphics being a bit poorer as long as it runs smoothly enough. Particularly for easily the best game I've ever experienced. Skyrim did alright on the console, and it's a buggy mess to start with. I'm interested to see what a developer that isn't Bethesda can do. 60 dollars is fucking steep though. Nintendo are scalping a bit there.

I don't think it's over-egging it to say that getting home advantage in that semi was an absolute masterstroke. I'd fancy us against any of our potential opponents there. Was curious just how far the high-rated cards in my club could go, so having put an Icon into him ages ago, I started to try and complete the Moments Maldini card. Have missed his beautiful face since I sold the Prime I packed, and always intended to bring him home at some point. Started with around 300k, and having completed all but the 83, 84 and 85, I was running very, very low. Threw a Hail Mary and put Baresi (who Maldini would replace) into another Icon SBC to hopefully get something I could sell, got f**k all. But getting very creative with the last few squads, I was left with the 83. Needs 2 IFs, and I'm left with ones from leagues I didn't even know existed. But the last 20k was enough to get just enough players in to complete it, and in comes that big fucking ride. Welcome Paulo. Of course the good feeling can't last forever, and after the Squad Battles rewards I had enough to scrape together for the Eredivisie SBC. Got fucking Onana. f**k sake. But the MLS POTM came out, and I'd bought about 50 Josef Martinez's ages ago. All sold for around 4k (having bought for 700) so I'm back with decent coins behind me. Serie A tonight, and I can't wait to get whatever absolute jobber I'll be given. Aye, but you'll only get discard for that duplicate Tierney unfortunately.

First Gold 3 finish in the WL, and it was SBC-fodder-o-rama from player picks. Got some 91 striker from the Turkish leagues who looks like a poor man's Marega, and Oblak. Happy to punt them into SBCs TBH, and they should bring prices down on an 89 by about 200k I'd imagine. No too bad. Got quite lucky in the packs too - handful of 85s, an 86, a low-rated IF.

That Borja guy? I got him too. Played him in a few games to try and eat into some of the La Liga objectives, he's not too bad. Obviously not the player you want to get from that SBC, but he'll do a job as a sub sometimes.

SBC is back, they're working on finding out who's affected, and they'll likely get the TOTS pack they were owed. Not really much compensation (apart from a free gold card) but there's no real reason to give any beyond that.

I hammered WL on Friday night, and got about the same again done on Saturday, meaning I went into Sunday with the usual Silver 1 secured, and needing 2 wins for 7 to get a maiden Gold 3. Two easy 3-0 wins, and I finally reached that uninspiring level. Then as soon as I thought "maybe I could reach G2..." I promptly lost 3 in a row to finish on 14. Still, got where I wanted to get, and feel like I've improved to the point where if I actually learn how to defend, I could get a little further. Oh, and that Marega TOTS card is fucking filth. Boy's an absolute monster.

That ladder match....jeeeeeeezo. Did they even have a plan or was it just an A4 page up backstage saying "try desperately to kill each other"? Tremendous to watch in a car-crash kind of way, but there were some genuinely worrying spots that (presumably) went the way they were supposed to, and a few that definitely seemed to not. That one where the ladder flew across the ring barely missed O'Reilly in particular.

Guess we'll find out tonight. DR and WL rewards in. Took the untradeable for the former, and started out with a TOTS - Sommer. Worth about 120k, which is galling given I can't sell him. Very good SBC fodder though when it comes to it. Alderweireld in the next pack, again good fodder. f**k all from the rest. Chose Pizzi from the player pick. Best option, but even then it's all a bit meh. I'll keep him as a sub. EDIT: Anyone do the Immobile SBC? Couldn't complete it quick enough, but after a couple of games I'm wondering if I've made an arse of it. Finished for about 100k in the end which isn't too bad. I was looking for a striker that complemented Van Basten, but in playing with him it looks like he's quite similar in a way. Not the quickest, strong, good shot, decent in the air.

I got Schulz. A LWB, for someone who hasn't used full-backs in aaaaaages. Using him for the German assist objective at LM, but he's severely lacking in any kind of offensive attributes. Would be a cracking player at the back, but ultimately wasted with me. Still, 92-rated TOTS for an SBC. Probably use him in the next guaranteed TOTS and make it much cheaper.

I'm going to try and fill up my club for the Serie A upgrades and stay away from everything else. I'll do the guaranteed SBCs unless they're prohibitively expensive, but I'd love to get a proper top-level Serie A player.

I bit the bullet in my seethe from the weekend league and cashed in pretty much everything in my club to finish the Vieira SBC. Vast swathes of players sacrificed. I really hope he's as game-changing as people claim he is.
