  1. I tend to agree. That said, 2 players I recall leaving on bad terms and returning are Webster and Stevenson, and they done alright.
  2. A lot of NI based Jambos on Facebook seem pretty delighted that we might get him. Doesn't look massively prolific but maybe there's more to his game.
  3. God, how have I never seen this tool on Twitter before. Some of the shite he posts is cringey. Be actually quite amusing if Doidge goes on to score a barrel load.
  4. What the **** is haversack? I only found out about 2 years ago that women actually pee out of a different hole from where the magic happens.
  5. Just read something there that Maidenhead United are playing the Kuwait national team next month.
  6. Ended my first season with Berwick in 7th place. Rebuilding job commenced started early doors and persuaded Hearts, Hibs and Newcastle to come to Shielfield for friendlies which boosted the coffers, and I had large wins away at Eyemouth, Dunbar, Hawick and Gala Fairydean. Decided last night I'd play until I lost my first league game. Went to bed at 2am after a 3-1 defeat to Montrose on matchday 21. Worth every minute. Saying that, I'm still only a point clear at top.
  7. Been a bit quiet for my liking from Schalke. Fully expect there to be plenty of business done and a proper rebuilding job under Wagner, but so far Kenny and Tekpetey is all we've done with very little in the rumour mill other than this lad from Dresden. Looking forward to another mid table finish this year.
  8. I like to hear other people's impressions on places but I tend not to get too hung up or influenced by what they say. Went to Paris last year and wasn't particularly sure I'd enjoy it but I ****ing adore Paris. Likewise, I always wanted to go to Amsterdam and have had many people talk about how great it is, yet, I wasn't particularly thrilled by it. Done all the touristy things and it was nice, but was somewhat taken aback by how busy and expensive it was.
  9. Few yesterday to whet the appetite. Domzale beat Sampion Celje 10-0, Braunschweig won 11-0 at Calberlah and a 12-0 win for Turkgucu Ataspor vs Pullach.
  10. I think it would be quite refreshing for a club like Chelsea to come back to earth a bit with Lampard and Terry at the helm.
  11. I hope Chelsea give Lampard the time to prove himself. It's a risk appointing him and they should know that, but too many clubs hold the manager responsible for the risk backfiring. Will Terry be tempted to go back to Chelsea?
  12. Was going to just jump straight in with 12 fingers x 4,000 people, but that's not taking into consideration those who might have lost a few fingers in farming incidents.
  13. Started one with Berwick Rangers at the weekend and got about halfway through my first season. Didn't pick up a win in my first 6, and got dumped out the Irn Bru and Betfred cups in the first round. Managed to get Dundee United as a parent club so relying on their youngsters to bail me out the shit. I've slowly crept up the table though and sit 7th, about 7 points off the playoffs. Financially going in the right direction. Getting to the 4th round of the Scottish Cup helped a lot. Beat Bathgate Thistle after a replay at home in the 2nd round and beat Morton 3-2 at home before being spanked 5-1 by Aberdeen at Pittodrie.
  14. The only time Edinburgh is a nightmare is coming back into it. They ****ing passport barriers man. Never had a single problem going out, my only pet peeve would be it seems to be the only airport that advises your gate about 20 minutes before boarding, but it's pretty small tbf.
  15. I seem to get asked for direction everywhere I go. Particularly when in Germany.
  16. My dad, with his strong Edinburgh accent, was mistaken for a Yorkshire man in Amsterdam.
  17. Went to Berlin for the first time a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it. My only regret was not spending more time there. Was only there from the Sunday evening until Tuesday morning and there was so much we wanted to see and do but didn't get the chance. Before I went, I'd been told by a mate that it wasn't a great place and felt very slavic. Didn't get those impressions at all. It was beautiful, modern and clean as well as being unbelievably vibrant. I've been to most major cities in Germany except Hamburg and Frankfurt, and I've loved every one of them. I just love Germany altogether, and every city has it's own charm and vibrance.
  18. Anyone recommend some good albums of a more alternative nature? Not bothered about what era, but I really love jazz or electro infused stuff. Getting into ATCQ got me into that, and I've always liked De La for that too. Electro sounding hip hop seems a lot more modern, but I really like a lot of Tyler, The Creators stuff, and I've only just listened to some of Mac Miller's stuff the last few days and I'm impressed.
  19. Sat around the other day bored, we stuck on Challenge on the TV for a laugh. An episode of Bruce's Play your cards right from 1996 comes on, cue her saying 'He's no changed a bit eh?' We were at a Haven park with the wee one for a wee weekend break last week too. Bear in mind there's loads of Haven's across the country. She believed the people inside the characters (Barney Bear and the gang) costumes are employed specifically to play the part. She couldn't work out in her head how it was possible for all 6 of them to get around and do all these shows. I obviously told her that the likelihood is, every park has all the costumes in a back room and that it's just part of the staff duties to do the shows in them. Apparently that was stupid and a real waste of money.
  20. One of my biggest bugbears about the game. Doesn't matter what league you're in, if you don't win the league your achievements are somewhat pointless. I've done it with Celtic before, won the league 3 years in a row and was offered the City job.
  21. Started a wee save with Rangers looking to bring back the glory days. 2nd place finish in the first season and an indifferent start led to me being under pressure and disillusioned so I resigned in September. Took me til April 2020 to get a job, alas St Mirren in the Championship required me. Almost in the relegation playoff spot I guided Saints to 5th place before a summer clear out. Personally wasn't happy with my recruitment in the summer and felt I had a very average squad even for Championship standards, but despite that I won the title with a game to spare, got the QF's of both the Scottish and League cup and got to the Irn Bru cup final but lost to Hamilton. First season in the Prem was great, even with a still average squad. Finished 5th which was enough to get a Europa spot. Cups were poor though. Played Celtic in the LC, 1-1 went to extra time, went 2-1 up just before half time in ET, before shipping 4 goals in 15 minutes. Lost at home to Queen's Park in the SC 4th round. Season 2022/23 has been brilliant so far. Finally got a couple of good young players through the youth and signed a few young regens from Holland and Bulgaria. Only lost 2 of my first 9 in the league so currently 2nd. LC QF's again with Falkirk at home all that stands in my way from a trip to Hampden and I've had the Europa campaign of dreams so far. Beat Georgian side Sioni in the 1st qualifier, 9-7 on aggregate after a 5-5 second leg draw in Paisley. 2nd round was a famous win over Werder Bremen, 2-0 in Paisley, lost 2-1 over there. R3 was a tight win over Serbian side Vojvodina and the play-off round was a routine victory over CSKA Sofia. Group stage it is, where Newcastle, Sampdoria and Zenit await. For the 2nd year in a row, all Scottish participants have reached the group stage of their respective competition, so the co-efficient is booming.
  22. Always fancied QP but in older versions they have huge debt.
  23. My bumper next few weeks are good to go: Off on a lads trip to Munich this weekend and scored tickets for Augsburg vs Stuttgart. Bayern was ridiculously expensive and no way we'd get 5 seats reasonably close so this will suffice. That said, a huge game for both sides and one which could have a big impact on my 2nd team Schalke. Hoping to get down to Newcastle vs Liverpool on at the start of May. My big trip in May is where it's at though. Leaving Edinburgh on Thursday 9th May for Reykjavik. Turns out the Icelandic champions Valur are at home on the Saturday night. On Sunday I'm off for a couple of days in Copenhagen. They split like we do so wasn't sure if I'd make a game but turns out Brondby are at home to Nordsjaelland (sp) on the Monday evening. Then on Tuesday I'm off to stay with a mate in Basel, and luckily they too are at home on Wednesday night to Luzern. My mate usually gets tickets through his work for free so might not even cost me! And the purpose of my trip is to head to Deutschland that weekend for Schalke vs Stuttgart. And, to top it all off, the Scottish Cup final on May 25th. So hopefully 6 games in 6 countries in May. Can't wait.
