  1. (In bold) Glad to invoke this reaction. We've all gotr favourites we haven't listened to in years. PozBaird (Who apparently can't count) has just inspired me to get into some Wishbone Ash when I get home. The Snow Goose was written by Paul Gallico, and later made into a film with Richard Harris and Jenny Agutter who, unusually, remained clothed throughout AFAIK*. It was set around Dunkirk, I believe, and was pretty contemporary when first published. *I haven't seen it, so I might look out for it, as she's been a favourite of mine, ever since catching Logan's Run at the pictures. Quite an impression she made on a teenage (just) me..
  2. Yeah, I thought about OOTD as well, but can't have the OP stretching the definition of what is and isn't an instrumental, can we? Quality track, right enough. Also, good shout on Booker T - there's more than one of his worthy of consideration - as you'd expect of a one-time Neil Young collaborator.
  3. I quite enjoyed Si and Dave's book (assume you mean Blood sweat and tyres?). A good insight as to how they got to be the double act we've grown to love and then get to the "another themed series?" stage with. Still miss their weekly Planet Rock Show, which introduced me to the phrase "an arse that felt like I'd fallen asleep in a Turkish prison and been voted the pretty one". I was a bit underwhelmed by TDR - felt it fell some way short of what either writer was capable of. Still a decent read, though.
  4. No worries - it is actually Bookbub, that wasn't a typo.
  5. Yep, "out of court settlement" screams one word, and it's not "innocent".
  6. What are your favourite tracks where the singer has passed out/gone to score/stormed out in a huff? I'll start with an off-the-top-of-my-head selection.. 1. La Villa Strangiato - Rush. Alex Lifeson showing he can actually play a bit, rather than just push out riffs to beef up Neil's fantasy epics. 2. Fanfare for the Common Man - Emerson Lake and Palmer. Good ol' slice of bombastic prog, and erstwhile Reporting Scotland theme. 3. Albatross - Fleetwood Mac. The perfect accompaniment to a sunny day and a wee Benson and Hendrix. 4. Laguna Sunrise - Black Sabbath. A nice wee example of Iommi's softer side, or see introductory sentence, above. 5. Parisienne Walways (Live) - Gary Moore. I prefer this to the vocal version (no offence, Phil). At one point he holds a note long enough for you to go for a pint and get back before he resumes. Honourable mention to Horslips for March into Trouble, Tull for The Pine Marten's Jig, Santana for so many soulful grooves...
  7. As rangers died, they haven't come "back" anywhere. They never played in the lower divisions either - that was a "journey" undertaken by a Tribute Act who have given the vast majority of Scottish fans more enjoyment in their short life than their predecessors did over many decades before their sad (no sniggering at the back, now!) demise.
  8. Yeah, I watched this last night. Fiennes is rarely less than decent value, and Gemma Arterton always brightens a movie up. I completely agree on the use of historical characters, especiall Rasputin, and the piss-poor villain. A relatively harmless way to spend a couple of hours but, had this been the first of these, I'd never have bothered with the other two, thereby missing Colin Firth going mental in a church and Elton John camping up his róle as Elton John. Oh, and becoming so invested in Mark Strong's Merlin that I was genuinely unhappy when he got stiffed. Although there's theories out there he may be resurrected, I can't see it happening given the backward (chronological and quality) step taken with this half-arsed "origins" effort.
  9. Tbf, they're not wrong on one point - Brexit is already contributing massively, in all sorts of ways, to the transformation of what was once a functioning democracy.
  10. ..and losing the votes (and subs) of long-time supporters and members.
  11. "You let your club die" is always a good one to chuck at the bigots, as it gets a response every time - especially as they know the truth is more like "You allowed David Murray to commence the EOL phase of your club's existence, without risking a penny of his own money, while worshipping him for bringing "world-class" talent to Govan and never questioning how a club in a backwater league could afford this". Either way, funny as fúck, and will never get old.
  12. Your "run of the mill fan"* could have: 1. Not "demanded better", like you know, actual run of the mill fans who realise success isn't a right, 2. Questioned where the money was actually coming from to buy the likes of Flo, 3. Listened when a few voices were warning of financial troubles years before they finally died, 4. Dismissed the likes of Chris Graham (?) and Mark Dingwall as the ranting, stupid bigots they undoubtedly are/were, and perhaps most importantly, 5. Not dismissed any negative news coming from Ibrokes as some kind of p*pish, f****n, T**g conspiracy mounted through jealousy of the Glorious Queen's XI.** *Is that the same as the "decent majority" who don't even know the words to any of those nasty songs? ** I would say RIP, but f**k'em. They were a disgraceful institution, and the fact that so many have colluded in the Big Lie either through fear of retribution or through pursuit of the Bloo (and Green) Poond is a disgraceful stain on the Nation.
  13. Big ten for Monday - aided by a complete JtR for the Young People's music. Still none the wiser on song or artist(s), tbh. Apologies for missing out on the 6-nations quiz. Then again, the mutton-molesters won enough at the weekend...
  14. I like a good biography. And Away.. Is indeed outstanding, and very touching in places. What I really enjoy is reading the varying memoirs of those who were in bands together - sometimes you'd think they'd never met! Good examples of this include members of The Eagles and Kiss. I've recently read Tom Jones' memoir, Over the Top and Back Again, which was surprisingly enjoyable. Not one I'd have looked for, but at 99p I thought I'd take a stab. Just got Mark E. Smith's Renegade for the same price. Check out bookbub - you get a daily email alerting you to bargains on Amazon and Google.
  15. Sorry for the absence, Slipmeister. Taking a short(!) break this morning to get them done gives us scores of 8,9,8,8and 10.
  16. King King were quality, and support The damned Truth were more than acceptable - big Janis vibes from the vocalist.
  17. Not bad seats for tonight's gig at the Opera House. (Me and Mrs WRK don't tend to do standing gigs nowadays)
  18. Quality song. Not a train. Just saying..
  19. That's been coming. If Queen's don't get their act in order we'll be playing this mob next year.
