  1. That is real tragic news. Saw him as a player and a manager. Terrific player, terrific manager. Sad he left the club under such a cloud after all he done. If memory serves me right, it was because the board refused to sanction Hughie Strachan becoming a coach at the club. He gave me the greatest day of my football life in 1971. I assume the club had an inkling of this happening hence the announcement of McParland Park yesterday. RIP Legend!
  2. I would be happy to keep both of them. Unlike Barton I didn't detect anything wrong with their attitudes last season. Storey struggled as he is a striker, not a winger. We need another central defender and we definitely need another striker. Storey could score plenty in this league if we played him as a striker.
  3. Fantastic name for the training ground. Well done to all concerned!!
  4. If we could get someone like Olli Shaw on loan from Hibs I would be lumping on, even at those skinny odds of 3/1. Even Scott Wright from Aberdeen who must be getting seriously fed up of only getting games against us. Time for him to move on....Firhill would be a nice place to kick start his career!!
  5. We certainly need a couple of headbangers in the team, so if he signs all we need is another in midfield. Anyway, anyone got details of Saturday's game. Who we playing and when does it kick off (not talking about Jack Storer)
  6. Encouraging words from our new chairperson. I have noticed recently that Archie has been saying that both he and Gerry will be trying to get the player side sorted and now Jacqui saying the three of them will be a formidable force. Is it just me (and it probably is) that thinks Scott Paterson seems out the loop. Surely he must have a say in player recruitment as well. https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/statement-from-new-partick-thistle-chairman-jacqui-low/
  7. If ATS is fit and gets back to his form of 4/5 years ago, that is a terrific signing for Motherwell!
  8. Cammy Bell seemingly said on the radio yesterday that the boss expects a few new faces in next week. We need more than a few, but hopefully it's the start of a period of hectic activity in the market!
  9. Cant believe Balatoni couldnt get a gig in the Championship. Would have happily kept him on after his wee stint with us. Haven't really seen the big fella since he left us, but unless he has seriously deteriorated I would have thought he would have got a championship side interested in him.
  10. Bit of a comedown for big Conrad. From wanting to play abroad to playing in Scotland's bottom league on presumably part time wages! https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/competitions/league-two/coup-for-edinburgh-city-as-they-sign-conrad-balatoni-1-4755645
  11. Not sure how you can say that in the knowledge that we still need to bring in at least 8 players. Let's see who signs before we condemn ourself to a relegation battle!
  12. Cammy Bell would be a half decent signing. Have seen Jamie Sneddon quite a few times in the development side and yes the potential is there, but for the life of me I can't see Archie giving him more than a back up position this year in the knowledge that he (Archie) will be out the door if we aren't at least in the top 4 at the end of the season
  13. If he was willing to come back I would take ATS and move Penrice to left midfield where the Livinfans raved about him. They both could cause plenty of destruction on the LHS
  14. Terrific signing. Big no nonsense defender and scores quite a few! https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/signing-news-thomas-oware-is-a-jag/
  15. Agreed but after the shambles of last close season when we were told the advantage of finishing in the top 6 was that we could get our targets tied up earlier (and we all know that never happened) you have just got to be a bit worried, even this early in the season that we are going to get left behind again, considering the amount of recruitment required this time round.
  16. Would be good if we even had a few rumours about potential signings before renewals, but the place is dead and clubs like Dundee Und and Ross Co have already started recruiting, especially United. Considering the amount of players we need in, that's disappointing.
  17. I quite enjoyed him on the Price Is Right but that feckin voice irritated the hell out of me!
  18. He was a terrific player! Skilful but hard as nails. Real shame!
  19. We won back to back league titles a couple of years after we were on the verge of going out of business. I was at the LC Final in 71 and believe me, after the state the club was in, in the late 90s, that achievement is just slightly behind the Celtic game. Many jags fans, me included, were sure that the club was going out of business. Those years weren't great times, they were fantastic times!
  20. To be fair, if the first thing he knew about his release was via the website statement, that is very, very poor. Have never rated him, glad to see him gone, but he does deserve better than that. In reality we should have shipped him out to the Pars after his loan spell there.
