  1. There's a lot of doom and gloom about but it's worth remembering that, apart from the entry in to SFL3 without due process, the cheating b*****ds have in fact not got away with anything to date. I for one have been hyper critical of the SFA/SPL/SFL but so far, by default sometimes and in spite of Regan/Cockwomble, they've done just about the right things. All the talk of "negotiaition" and "compromise" has come from Green, fat sally and the orcmedia.
  2. We'll go round in circles here! I believe that the "sanctions" for playing illegally registered players is to award the game(s) to the opposition (usually 0-3) and/or remove titles/trophies won where illegally registered players were used. The directors then may find themselves banned. You may be right on newco membership being revoked (i.e. I may be wrong!) but I don't think that's a sanction that is available for this and neither do I think there is a precedence?
  3. I'm not talking about letting them off the hook. The serious point is that it does not impact on Green's newco one bit, the only objections he can have is to protect the previous directors (unlikely) or to look as though he is protecting a "history". Neither of these make any sense in his current venture in which he's perfectly entitled to try to get a team back into the SFL and therefore add value to his investment. I'm cynical...it's nothing more than a get out clause.
  4. I must be missing something but why would green be worried about the dual contracts investigation? This is one bit that definitely would not impact on newco or the directors of newco that we know of. Is it just to give succour to fat sally and the oldco fans? Or is it just a convenient out?
  5. To be fair that's exactly how this whole sordid story has been moved along by forums such as this and blogs such as his. Keep it up FFS!
  6. I think you're pretty close with that. On this bit: ""There’s not a chance, in this blog’s opinion, that Charles Green will sacrifice the newco’s ability to play professional football for the sake of something as essentially trivial as having 54 titles officially credited to its name rather than 49, especially as Rangers fans will refuse to acknowledge the fact anyway and will continue to insist it’s 54 no matter what the record books say."" What surprises me is that the oldco fans would want to claim these illegally gained titles and trophies if guilty of dual contracts? I'd have though they would want to distance themselves and their club from the stench of cheating. (Please usual suspects, I know they're innocent until proven guilty and they may well be innocent in the case of holding dual contracts for players.)
  7. Agreed. This is well known (well at least in the book "Why England Lose...."!) as BIRG fans standing for Basking In Reflected Glory. Easy for us to slag off as gloryhunters but the fact is that all teams have core diehards who will turn up whatever happens and the rest are BIRG. For a diddy team like AFC the BIRG element is very small (nae much to bask in!!) bur for the oldcogers, Celtic and EPL clubs the vast majority fall in to this group. They are no less serious and single minded in their support but will not tend to be involved when the glory fades. I also know some seriously smart, senior guys who "support" oldco but not one would step into the breach in any way. Sna aff a dyke basically. As for the hardcore, well people like us who (presumably) go to all the games and post in blogs can overestimate how important all this is. For example, not only does it hardly ever make the main 10'o'clock news but it's also slipping out of the BBC Scotland slot to be replaced by the likes of golf and the olympics lately. Big story, but only for the 100,000 - 150,000 scots who actively support fitba.
  8. Shame, spoilt a good story and a fair amount of "sporting integrity" pish.
  9. Possibly but 9th the last two seasons indicates where we are, it wasn't a one-off bad season. Relegation fight for us I think.
  10. Sir Alex, while at AFC, called the lower division teams "social clubs with football teams attached". Oh how we laffed!!! Thought that wrong at the time, bring back the tail wagging the dog!
  11. Only if the clubs vote yes to proposal 2 therefore giving them that power to decide. They won't get it.
  12. Interesting that Regan/SFA instigated the "plan". So far the SPL have not toed the party line and we can only hope that SFL don't either. Could be a good sort out for a future with one organisation running scottish fitba. From what I can see I'd go for SFL.
  13. A juggernaut has driven through the rules. These guys are all adults, they will not be stupid enough to be led by the nose by a bunch of incompetent administrators.
  14. That would have been the right thing to do IMO but there's hasn't been much evidence of that throughout unfortunately.
  15. I hope so, but when you see the depths this ridiculous carry on has plumbed in order to make Charles Geen rich I'm not 100% convinced.
  16. Well exactly... which is why some of them want to change the voting proposals and/or add amendments. They are not stupid enough to vote on a set of proposals that hand the decision making to their Chief Execs which is an interesting place for a board to be! They are entitled to ask for clarity, this is a vote not a court case.
  17. SFL votes no to newco or even yes to newco in SFL3. Bun fight in the room, voting strategically (i.e. intentionally) suspended. No vote therefore on SPL slot to Dundee/Dunf. SPL recovene Monday and vote yes to SFA proposal for sevco to be Club 12. Wouldn't count it out. At least it would bring the whole "rewrite the rule book for rangers" up for public view.
  18. Totally agree; better you stick to "no surrender", "weurrapeepull"" and "we'll go to SFL3/England/Atlantic and youse'll be phucked"? Why change a successfull system?
  19. Ther was an article in Abmad agreed with your analogy: ""At an Institute of Directors dinner in 1991 Gerald Ratner said this of his extremely successful Jeweller's business: "We also do cut-glass sherry decanters complete with six glasses on a silver-plated tray that your butler can serve you drinks on, all for £4.95. People say, "How can you sell this for such a low price?", I say, "because it's total crap." His business collapsed almost overnight and PR faux pas have been labelled "Ratner moments" ever since. The point is that, in playing to his audience, he was oblivious to his customer's self esteem and indeed their aspiration to be the type of person who might own Ratner style jewellery products (what else can we call them) and he just didn't see that this would turn his customers away. Fast forward to June 2012 and the "business" of Scottish football."" One of the shameful aspects of Doncaster, Regan and the MSM is their continual badmouthing of game.
  20. Totally agree with that. I think the myth of "meaningless" games in an 18 team league is played out. What is clear from this debacle is that for the suits everything except the old OF is meaningless. As the BBC said in the run up to an OF derby last year "nothing else matters"...quite. We've been suckered and it doesn't make it any better that my club were complicit in a misguided grab for money. 18 team league and real fitba for me.
  21. Nobody is excluding voting rights. It's about stating an interest in potentail conflict (owning shares in other teams is a no brainer here) and then clearing that with the board as a matter of open, honest governance.
