  1. Totally agree. I think the split helps with this as well. Lots of people were skeptical of the split when it came in but I think it's been a good thing.
  2. Garry Brady was unavailable. In all seriousness, that's a very good signing for Morton. The signing of McGinn was the reason we stayed up in 2017. I'd have kept him this season too, OK he wasn't first choice but during out 6 game losing streak I felt we were crying out for someone like him. He's only 32 as well, so not exactly over the hill.
  3. Far more teams go down and struggle than bounce straight back up. Whoever gets relegated this season, I'd be surprised if they bounced straight back up.
  4. Rangers are a very good side, miles better than us obviously. I think both their goals come from pretty poor defending from us though.
  5. I agree, and Dundee Utd have a much worse goal difference too. It would be possible for them to take 4 points and if we lost our 2 games to draw level on points. They'd also need a 10 goal swing. Seems pretty unlikely. I'm pretty confident 1 point will be enough but obviously you'd like to take more and like has been said, it's a nice position to be in knowing that we're be pretty comfortably away from the dog fight at the bottom.
  6. If we take 1 point and St Johnstone take 6 then it would go to goal difference. At the minute we're on -5 and St Johnstone -8. So not insurmountable for them.
  7. I forgot Andreu was even playing to be honest (cue him scoring in the second half now).
  8. We've been well on top but not really opened County up at any point. I'd be targeting Tremarco in the second half, red card waiting to happen. Erwin has been good, probably the best I've seen him play.
  9. Did no one else think that Shaughnessy was fouled there? Took a forearm to the face. Just me?
  10. The players have played a lot of games recently and their needs to be rotation. A fully fit, rested squad and Erwin doesn't start. Also, it's not like the guy is a liability. He doesn't offer enough for me but he has chipped in with a couple of goals despite being a bit part player. He's got a point to prove today. Let's hope he takes it.
  11. We're 3 points ahead of St Johnstone, who play Hamilton (a), Hibs (h) and Ross County (h). If we can get 4 points then St Johnstone would need to take 9, or maybe 7 and it would go to goal difference. Dundee Utd play, Kilmarnock (a), Celtic and Aberdeen (h). I think 4 points will be enough and I think that's achievable. Do you know what, even if St Johnstone or Dundee Utd pip us to the last place we've had a very good season and improved massively from last year.
  12. All things considered that's a decent point. We were rank rotten, the conditions weren't great and we're a point closer to the top 6. MacPherson often seems to be the player to make way but he's about the only player who'll take a chance and hit a shot from distance. 89 mins and we're passing the ball across the 18 yard line. Just shoot.
  13. Not one for the purists. Motherwell have definitely been the better side but neither have created anything of note. St Mirren looking like a team who've been playing two games a week for a while. Kevin Clancy looking like a ref who's been playing more than 2 games a week too. Some really poor decisions. Could see this being settled by a dodgy penalty at one end or the other.
  14. Great news that McGrath and Doyle-Hayes are back but there's now something nagging in my head that the extra confidence may be misplaced.
  15. I'm always suspicious when opposing fans say that we'll win comfortably. We're still down to the bare bones. I'm not sure if Quaner will be able to make a short cameo? Probably a bit too soon for him. Has there been any word on Mason? Our home form hasn't been great, last 3 away games (Pittodrie, Parkhead and Tannadice) we've picked up 7 points. Last 3 home games (Livingston, Hamilton and Celtic) we've picked up 2. I could see another draw here.
  16. I think this nails it. Progress for St Mirren this year would to be an arms length from the relegation battle, we're more than that. Today wasnt great to watch but there's a lot factors in play. We've had a great season so far and should recognise that.
  17. That second half was turgid. The conditions were terrible but other than one well worked piece of play we had from a throw in it was really poor stuff. Our final ball was awful. I understand wanting to change the formation in the second half, as Livingston were very comfortable but Macpherson off for Erwin was a dreadful substitution. Macpherson was our biggest goal threat. Erwin was terrible, I don't like to slaughter individual players but he really offers so little. Some tired bodies out there and a pitch cutting up badly, not a great game but a reasonable point.
  18. Fair scoreline. As has been said, Livingston's crosses have been dangerous but apart from Sibbald's effort from outside the box Alnwick has had nothing to do. Likewise with McCrorie, one save from outside the box. Dreadful goal for us to lose, I'm not convinced it was a foul, both players had a hold of each other's shirt, but we have to defend it better. Reilly has been cute a few times in the game and won a couple of soft fouls. McCarthy needs to be smarter though. Not a great header from Tait and hits McCarthy and end up in the net. We need to get Connolly more involved as he has the beating of their defence.
  19. I think you're right but Stubbs came in and withdrew the offer. I think players are within their rights to hold off on signing contracts to see if better offers come in. I don't think many people would've worried too much if Stubbs had actually brought replacements in for the players he showed the door to. Instead he signed a bunch of players who were miles off it. I think Reilly is a decent signing for. Livingston though, he won't play every week but when he does he'll bust a gut and will be a nuisance for defenders.
  20. With Dundee Utd going to Ibrox tomorrow you'd imagine this is a chance for both teams to put a bit of daylight between teams just below them. We're missing some important players so I'm not overly confident, even though Livingston have slipped up a bit recently. I reckon it'll be a draw. Assuming Dundee Utd lose tomorrow that wouldn't be a terrible result for either team.
  21. I actually agree with this. They're both leaning in different directions, it's impossible to say with certainty whether he's on of offside from that still.
  22. I thought Erwin did OK at times tonight but I agree on his first touch. Even when trying to hold the ball in, too often it just bounces off him and we lose possession. Fair play to Hamilton they put in a shift and for most of the second half they were the better side. Anderson looks a useful player. It was high energy from both teams for most of the game, we really lacked someone like Doyle Hayes or McGrath to put their foot on the ball though. Flynn did that when he came on to a degree.
