  1. O'Hara is a lucky boy. I don't understand how it's not a free kick. McGrath wins the header and O'Hara piles into the back of him. There's no intent from O'Hara, but he's late and it's a foul.
  2. Motherwell are worth their lead. Cole has looked good and corners are causing us problems. We're not out it though. Second half prediction: O'Hara to get sent off and Saints to win 2-1.
  3. Out bidding Aberdeen could be a bit of a misnomer. He'd have likely been Aberdeen's 3rd choice striker, whereas he'll almost certainly be our first choice. So it might be about how much the player is worth to the club.
  4. I'd have really liked to see it work out for Morais. His commitment was never it doubt. Is his contract up at the end of the season? I suppose that's the last we'll see of him in any case. Good luck to him at Boreham Wood.
  5. I hope we are offering Obika another deal. He's by far our best striker. His hold up and link up play are miles better than anyone else we've got. Brophy and Obika could work well together. What I like about Brophy is that he actually hits a shot when he can. Too many of our players look afraid to shoot.
  6. Can't gift Rangers goals then expect anything from the game. We played well in spells without creating anything clear cut. It would've been interesting to see how Rangers would've reacted had we scored, I felt they always had another gear. All in all, we didn't disgrace ourselves but we also didn't make Rangers work enough for their 3 points.
  7. The headline on the STV article, like almost all of these articles, is pretty misleading. “In any game you are in you need an element of luck, you need certain decisions to go in your favour. “You need the referees to get the big decisions right on the day and be brave enough to make those decisions. “There has been one or two instances where there have been penalties that haven’t been awarded and you are hoping that those kinds of decisions don’t go against us tomorrow. “I think I’m right in saying Rangers are the only team in the Premiership who haven’t had a penalty given against them and sometimes subconsciously it can play on the minds of officials." It's not really particularly controversial what he's said, but" Manager hopes referee gets big decisions right" probably wouldn't have got as many clicks.
  8. And also because they have jobs/lives. Anyway, would love to think we could sneak another win here but it's probably unlikely. A point would be great I'd be happy with a good performance. As much as I hate to admit it, Rangers are a very good side right now. Good to see we've been able to rotate the team recently. Obika, Connolly and Mason to come back in for me. Erwin, Morais and McAllister to drop to the bench.
  9. For a while under Kearney we were looking really fit and scored a few late goals. It's brilliant to see, I wonder how much of that is down to Junior Mendes.
  10. The game against Rangers is the only one in a while where Obika has played more than 60 mins. He must be carrying a knock as we are a far better team with him in it.
  11. Here's hoping. Like most players he maybe needs a run in the team, but difficult to get that when he's generally not made much of an impression in the time he's played. He took his goal well today though and his shot in the first half was a ddcent effort.
  12. I said at the time that it was really disappointing to lose Magennis but that I thought we were well covered in midfield with Foley, Erhahon, MacPherson and McGrath. Now we've got Doyle Hayes, Foley can't get a look in and MacPherson is also down the pecking order. I really hope he does extend his stay, if only so we can demand a few quid for him, as I'd be astounded if there weren't a few teams in Scotland and England keeping tabs on him.
  13. Thought we were the better side in the first half but we were hanging on a bit in as the second half went on. As soon as Obika went off we had no one to hold the ball up and take a bit of pressure off. Every ball that went forward came straight back. Goodwin made the same sub against Aberdeen and I don't think it worked then.
  14. I'd have been a bit pissed off had a St Mirren player got a second yellow for what Ferguson did. He puts both his arms round Obika's waist right enough, but I think he's a bit unlucky. There's no debate whatsoever about the penalty though.
  15. Hes playing as a lone striker and did a good job yesterday. Timed one run to perfection between the aberdeen backline where he would have been one on one only for Connolly or Durmus to intercept it and play it inside His ability to hold the ball up and his link up play are far better than any other forwards we have.
  16. Agree with all of this. That's not to completely write off our chances though. Rangers will probably still be in Europe so I'd expect them to rest a few players. It's a free hit for us as well, we don't need to worry about goal difference or anything like that. We should just go out and get in their faces, if we end up getting beat 5-0 so be it.
  17. He's a great guy, always really positive and had a lot of time for the fans, particularly kids. He did us a turn as well. He was a calm and experienced head at the back, which we really needed. He was immense in his debut against Celtic and away to Motherwell when we won also stands out.
  18. Holt's challenge was strong, I thought it was definitely a foul, probably a yellow. His foot was high but I thought he went in with the side of his foot rather than his studs towards Mason. I'd have felt aggrieved if a St Mirren player had been sent off for that. The 3 points were the most important thing and I think we just about deserved it. We were fairly solid at the back, although Livingston offered little up front. Edited: I just saw the tackle again on twitter. Definite red. It was really bad actually, dunno how I missed it the first time round.
  19. BBC saying that we had 16 shots, 0 of which were on target. Easy to see where our problems are. Oddly enough they still managed to give Seigrist MOTM
  20. I wonder how much that line up is down to players' fitness after missing the best part of 2 weeks proper training.
  21. Very strange. Why would the club just make that up? Also, who wouldn't have wanted to leave perennial strugglers to a club doing really well, for more money?
  22. I have no issue if Magennis said he wanted to leave for Hibs. Bigger club, more money, flying in the league. What player wouldn't want to make that move?
  23. If £250k plus a sell on is accurate then I think that's good business. As I - and others - have said we're pretty well covered in midfield. I reckon he's our best midfielder but I wouldn't say he's considerably better than the others we have, and MacPherson and Erhahon will continue to improve. Good luck to Magennis, he's an honest hardworking player who I think can go on to have a decent career. I'd be delighted if he did well for Hibs and got a move to a good club down south.
  24. You can't contest a drop ball now, it's been done away with. The new rule is a nonsense and last night was a perfect example of why. A slack Aberdeen pass would've been collected by a St Mirren player (Macpherson I think) yet the ref manages to get in the road so Aberdeen get the ball back in a dangerous position with no opposition players allowed within a few yards of them. The arbitrary nature of 'last team to touch the ball' is daft. I heard no one ever claim that drop balls were an issue that needed addressed, so have no idea why they changed the rule.
  25. What changes would you have made out of interest? I don't think McAllister or Durmus offer enough defensively. I take the point about the out ball to fresh legs but sometimes subs for the sake of it can up set how the team is playing. Tonight we were unfortunate.
