  1. That is true. Hopefully somewhere along the way they would see that Bairnardo is not such a bad lad and decide to turn back. We will never know.
  2. This scenario doesn't sound very plausible to me.
  3. This Thursday it will be 20 years since Joey Ramone passed away. By way of a tribute, I think flags should be flown at half mast, black armbands worn and maybe even delay the kick off for certain sporting events. Also tempted to write to the BBC to ask if they would do a 12 hour special on Joey's contribution to music. Just a thought.
  4. Compared to the Royal Family, the death of Bambi's mother was worse.
  5. A key factor with Diana was that she already in the news at the time. The tabloids were all into the Diana and Dodi story and every day it was "what are they up to now?" Then, all of a sudden they were dead. It was like killing off a main character in a TV show. Totally unexpected, even for people who don't give a shit about the Royal Family. 99 year man in declining health and now he is gone. Hardly a surprise.
  6. Very true. Denmark only had a tiny occupation force during the war (unlike Norway) and even held an election IIRC. They also protected their Jews. The King wore a Star of David even though he was not Jewish. More than 99% of Danish Jews survived the war.
  7. Get the "L" out of here then! Oops that didn't sound right.
  8. Poor guy. Just a few weeks short of getting a telegram from his wife. Sometimes it just plain bad luck.
  9. Other examples include Royal Leamington Spa, England Royal Berkshire, England Royal Deeside
  10. No that won't work. You'll get people turning up at the airport with only their vaccine passport and not their passport passport. "I didn't realise I still needed both!" Better make it another colour just in case. Maybe burgundy.
  11. I am not very keen on songs that go off-song somewhere in the middle. Typical examples are "Light my fire" by The Doors and "Whole lotta love" by Led Zeppelin. "Behind blue eyes" by The Who has a bit near the end that takes a bit of getting used to.
  12. Apparently the body doubles for the film are the original climbers Joe Simpson and Simon Yates. The documentary inspired the TV series "I shouldn't be alive" which follows a similar format of people recounting a horrendous ordeal. There were 58 episodes and you will find some of them in full on YouTube.
  13. Yes that is true. Major and Blair also had dealings with the IRA but they were more delicate about it. Corbyn's approach made it look like he was anti-British. Nelson Mandela was once labelled a terrorist and that is what Thatcher thought he was. Corbyn also had issues with antisemitism because he couldn't make the problem go away. Corbyn was very popular amongst his supporters but he provided a lot of ammunition for his opponents.
  14. That's true. Corbyn was seen as not patriotic enough. "What if we need to nuke somebody? Can Jeremy be trusted to do that?" Apparently dressing up in a Union Jack outfit and singing the national anthem with gusto is seen as the most important thing.
  15. Michael Caine did this when he auditioned for Zulu to make people think his character was posh.
  16. 2019 was the Brexit election. Millions of people were getting sick of seeing it always in the news and nobody talking about anything else. Labour had a confused approach on this matter that did not appeal to either side while Johnson claimed he would get it done regardless of the complications. Thankfully Brexit is no longer dominating the headlines so he must have got that right.
  17. I agree. Langoliers was awful. The mini-series for 11.22.63 was great.
  18. I think there is still capacity for a few more.
