  1. A big pay day. We’ve had rotten luck with these rounds where some of our biggest rivals from the Juniors have drawn the big ones. We got to Rnd 5 4 times I think and got QOS and Ross County away, and Falkirk and Raith at home. All decent pay days but Talbot have had Hearts away twice, Bonnyrigg had Hibs at Easter Road. This is a huge financial advantage and we surely get the rub of the Green at some point. Rangers, Celtic, Hearts, Hibs or Aberdeen away please!
  2. They have a serial winner as a manager I wouldn’t get too comfortable but I think you’ll handle them fine. Getting this far is an unbelievable achievement for them, on top of winning a cup last year! Danny Smith continues to write history at this level after winning everything he could as a player as captain of Linlithgow Rose. Always look out for the paces result, he really is one of the best people in non league football.
  3. Will be interesting to see where he ends up. If he lands at any of the challengers then it immediately strengthens their title chances with his goals!
  4. Rose fan here. If you win your game in hand you are 6 points off the top. Absolutely no need for panic stations. You’re point is right in terms of us being below par for a few years as we upgraded the ground and chopped and changed managers but the BF years show it’s not all about money. We brought in youth and developed them with a top management team and that’s the main reason we are doing well now. You’ve been punching in terms of your core support but runs in the Scottish far outstrips gate receipts so it’s no surprise. Need to get back to winning ugly which you’ve ALWAYS done the last few seasons. Last season especially when I thought we were gaining ground the amount of last min winners or equalisers were ridiculous. The manager seems to have chucked it with his recent interviews after a couple of defeats to us and Bo’ness. Hardly a disaster with your injury list!
  5. I’m surprised there hasn’t been a few offers already. Consistently banging them in in the cups as well as the league.
  6. Yeah we have juggled well with quite a few injuries. A squad of 21 too with three goalkeepers and we’ve had some u20 players on the bench and getting on fairly regularly this season so far. I believe this Saturday will be the first time this season every player is fit.
  7. Strange interview but he’ll be feeling under pressure. Easy to sit here as a rose fan with a full squad and say we bosses the game but if you have 3 or 4 starters out and have sold your best player then you could be in trouble when the parks are getting heavy. Every team would struggle in those circumstances. Penicuik will need to knuckle down and grind out results which to be fair is what they are best at! Sauchie and Crossgates flying and Musselburgh also joining the party. It’s going to be some title race with 6 teams in with a shout!
  8. My suspicion it’s the free fall clubs go into that is also driving the no votes so that is unavoidable. Hawick are bottom of EOS Div 3, Whitehill second bottom of EOS Div 2 and Vale of Leithen bottom of the EOS Premier. That’s the last three teams who’ve gone down and they plummet like a stone. A LL two would at least give the clubs some bigger crowds to stabilise them financially and potentially bring in some investment to stabilise earlier. *edit by the way I totally agree the best solution is to just have automatic promotion but that’s not happening. The problem is the progressive clubs keep winning the league and that’s losing a vote a year at the moment.
  9. By the end of this season nearly all will be licensed. Any more than 2 up 2 down will have the LL clubs inviting Hibs to join the league.
  10. I’m going on what seems to be a reluctance to go for any more than 1 place down. That there’s about 10 teams in the leagues below that are currently skelping the LL teams out the cups everytime they play them. It’s false position and a shite pyramid and it’s there for all to see. I’d sooner see a strong LL2 formed underneath with the top 8 from each of the West and East the LL if it’s sticking with 1 up 1 down than wait a decade for those teams to eventually filter up. For me we are missing a really good product by watching it trickle.
  11. Personally think the only way round this will be a Lowland League 2. Then two up two down from there. Kelty and Bonnyrigg already promoted and Tranent making a fist of it this year too. Bo’ness are the only team who have been promoted who have been poor, maybe partly due to the plastic pitch, maybe due to Athletic reducing their fan base. Either way it’s enjoyable to watch. The last three teams to be relegated from the LL are Vale of Leithen (bottom of East Premier currently), Whitehill Welfare (2nd bottom of Division 1 currently) and Hawick Royal Albert (bottom for Division 2 currently). Even looking at whose come down, the Shire, Berwick and Cowdenbeath 12th, 15th and 16th in the Lowland League. It’s embarrassing that it’s taking so long to allow movement - it’s no wonder daft ideas like rival leagues start to surface.
  12. Allum was a huge disappointment at the Rose. You could see there was a striker in there but he struggled to knock a 34 year old Tommy Coyne out the team so didn’t show the desire needed. Payne on the other hand I assume left as he wanted a regular game, I’d be delighted to still have him part of the squad, a proper finisher and plus with a smile on his face - looks like a great guy to have around the place. Good luck for the rest of the season, need to shake off that inconsistency and get up the league. Another team that should be up in the Lowland League in time.
  13. Yeah they weee both excellent, even more considering the conditions. I had to fact check my mate when he said you were fourth bottom. With that strike force alone HOB should be challenging for the league, all three are a threat and the Keeper is one of the best in the league. Any idea why consistency isn’t there?
  14. A proper cup tie feel tonight. 3-3. Fair result. If HOB could play that week they wouldn’t be fighting relegation, I think I say that everytime we play up there. Good point but to lose a goal so late the lads will be kicking themselves. Great value for £8!
  15. I hear you but the old “East” would include those clubs listed that have gone up was my point. It’s still the top teams getting to round 3. Would imagine in a couple years there’ll be two or three prelims as the west filter in with licensing. Going to be some great ties when it eventually catches up. That’s unless the SFA make it harder to get licensed to limit the numbers.
  16. It’s not really. East Prem and West Prem are at the same level playing wise as the LL and HL in my opinion. East less so as Kelty, Bonnyrigg, Bo’ness and Tranent have already progressed up to League 1, 2 and the LL in respective seasons.
  17. Top class. Fancied us before the tie given our track record but didn’t expect that after the first ten mins. Spartans a decent physical team, a pity they tried to get players booked for every tackle but they got what they deserved for that. Hail the Gallant! [emoji257]
  18. A long way to go before we think about that but I’d say us, Jeanfield or Penicuik (just my opinion for who I think will be up there) will be relishing the chance. As a rose fan I wouldn’t be scared of playing anyone from League 2 down with the squad we have just now. Hopefully however a league reconstruction of some sort will be on the table as whoever wins the leagues should go up. I do think we’ve been forced into thinking along the lines of a LL2 as there are too many good teams in the East And West to sit there with a lottery at the end of the season.
  19. Not that I’ve heard but it can’t hurt he’s playing with a lot of his team mates for years between us and Camelon. I’d think his price will be a reason and I’d imagine we can match most teams from League 2 down. Is he ready to step up to League 1 just yet? Maybe those clubs not quite sure yet but I think he will!
  20. A brilliant player. He’s getting bigger and stronger physically as well. Honestly feel it is inevitable he will go up the leagues but delighted to watch him till that happens. 60 goals in 1 and a quarter seasons is crazy!
  21. Convincing 6-0 win tonight. Squad used again and we are rolling nicely just now. Bring on Bo’ness! [emoji257]
  22. Probably because the west juniors only entered the pyramid last season. That’ll equal out now. Bo’ness vs Talbot will be the biggest tie this round by a distance.
