Not really the point I'm making tbf, Fitba is dear as f**k and it's not something that should be dear as f**k because we charge our own fans the same.

Aye, as I said I dont disagree with the general point that football is too expensive. My point was that Motherwell arent ripping the hole out of away fans by charging them way more than us.

I put the biggest blame on the ugly sisters charging £32 to sit in shite seats. That sets the bar for the rest of the league.

I still think clubs could be way more creative though with family packages and season ticket holder discounts for away fans.

It would soften the blow and encourage more numbers to attend.

There's a long list of things that will never happen but the rule about charging the equivalent price to away fans should be based on the price per game of STs. It's yet another way of screwing fans out a few quid.

    I cant agree with that.

If away fans got in for £22 there would be Motherwell fans paying more than them at the gate.

Season ticket holders should of course be rewarded for their commitment with a cheaper overall price.

I am for lowering prices overall though and I do think there should be much more consensus on cheap family deals as per St Johnstone.

We should be looking at maximising the overall revenue rather than ticket price in isolation.

I remember a few seasons ago there were reciprocal deals to opposing clubs season ticket holders for reduced prices. I cant remember which clubs were involved, but a figure of £10 is in my head.

That might not be the right pricepoint now, but the idea is worth exploring again. It would raise away attendances and we would make more from catering.

Said this in the match thread too but £26 for St Mirren fans is fucking shocking.

I dont disagree. But we charge our own fans £26 for the Cooper so its not like we are fleecing them.

If you take into account the price of a season ticket for that stand its £415. Even at 19 home games its still £22 a ticket.

I was thinking about Ibrox next week, but at £32, I think they can stick it......

It'd be interesting to compare the clubs' size, perhaps using an objective criteria such as this:

Motherwell and Kilmarnock have bigger grounds, clearly. However, besides that I would say all three clubs are of a similar size.

If you are comparing fanbase, I think its perfectly reasonable to suggest that Motherwell, Kilmarnock and St Mirren are all similar sized clubs. If you factor in honours won, history within the Scottish game etc you can also make that argument, albeit St Mirren have never won the league title. In fact only 9 Scottish clubs have won all 3 trophies.

Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs, Dundee, Dundee United, Kilmarnock, Motherwell.

You would have to say that the city clubs are all bigger in respect of fanbase and even clubs like Dundee and Dundee United who have had long spells out of the top tier are bigger clubs and historically have been more successful.

Looking down the way, even clubs which in the past could have been considered similar size such as St Johnstone, Partick Thistle, Dunfermline and Falkirk, never won the league And have even all fallen into the 3rd tier in recent times.

Not sure there is much in the debate other than bragging rights though. Its where you finish up at the end of each season that counts.

That was broadly my impression, so appreciate that.

He won't play through the middle on his own, he'll have a foil to play off. While his time in the championship was a lower level, obviously, he also played alongside a big b*****d in Lafferty, which probably helped on the deficiencies that you highlight.

Big Carebair will look after him.

    Feed the Carebair........

“Asked if the Scottish international had missed the game due to injury, the Town chief said: “Al’s alright, it was just a bit of a selection one to be honest, it felt like what we needed on the bench.

“We absolutely love him, he deserves to play football as well, because he’s the best professional.

“It’s probably a little bit difficult for him to get that game time, so it’s something that we’re looking at, at the moment with him.

“He deserves to play. We love him to bits here as well, so if he’s here, brilliant.”

Sounds like "Kettlespeak" for, he has absolutely no future here and we are actively trying to move him on!

  7. Quite surprised that the St Mirren support wasnt bigger given the start to the season.

I understand the season ticket argument, but the Motherwell support didnt have it on their season ticket either and I would suggest 1400 is probably up on our usual attendance in Paisley. Of course away fans tend to be your more hardcore anyway so if the match was at Fir Park we might have seen roles reversed.

Maybe a hangover from the summer holidays?

Anyway. Well done on your victory. Good luck in the next round.

  8. Will be really interesting to see what happens to Hibs this year.

Certainly the Nisbet transfer cash makes it easier to pay transfer fees when you already have a solid fanbase that covers the day to day running of a premiership club. But you still have to spend it wisely.

Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen have all spent significantly more than us in the last few seasons and havent been streets ahead of us on the pitch.

And lets not forget what happened to Dundee United last season!

They arent alone of course. We havent exactly been the most prudent in the last couple of seasons with our recruitment, so its more important than ever that we get it right this season and stabilise the ship going forward.

SK has done a fantastic job so far. Here's hoping that his signings will all come good and we can give the city clubs (outside the uglies) a run for their money.

  9. Really enjoyable game of football on a tricky pitch. Well done to the Dundee groundstaff for getting the game on/finished.

Thought both teams played some nice stuff at times. The boy McCowan looks a player. Very impressed with him. Very unlucky not to get a goal which he would have deserved.

Thought we played really well on the transition, with just the final pass eluding us or holding up in the water a lot of the time.

A point was about right. Both teams will probably play worse this season and win.

Seeing the Miller strike on sportscene, how can you give that as a goal kick?? It was about to go in potentially??

That really annoyed me at the game.

Probably wouldnt have made any difference to the result, as we didnt get the better of the Dundee defence at set pieces all game, but how the referee or indeed his linesman cant see the change of direction of that ball is a mystery!

We will gloss over Caseys pit-a-pat with the ball in Kellys hands though. 😆😆😆
