Very interesting. This version, based on local records, had it at the corner of Victoria Road and Allison Street above the Victoria Bar. It’s a decade old now. The detailed map version would likely be more reliable but the 2013 version also offers an opinion on why they would have chosen this location as the meeting venue.

Bizarrely, I was taken to Strathbungo Primary for swimming lessons in the early seventies and never knew all this was sitting right next door.

Growing up in Govanhill in the 60s and 70s, the received wisdom was that Queen's Park FC started above the Victoria Bar on Vicky Rd. In those days we knew that Eglinton Terrace was on Victoria Road between Allison St and Prince Edward Street. Street numbers generally started towards the town centre and increased in number from there. What was not considered was -

    1) Terraces were generally the whole terrace (including round corners), and

    2) In 1867 Govanhill was not yet part of Glasgow.

So in later years, when the Terrace was renamed, the old numbering system was lost. The new research and findings undoubtably give the accurate location of the original meeting. Brilliant work!

  2. Not sure how this one will go tbh. After Doolan came in Partick did great towards the end of last season but couldn't quite get over the finish line. They've lost a couple of good players since then and results haven't been brilliant so far.

For me, QP are still a team in transition and I'm not sure how our young team will stand up to the rigours of the full Championship season. Top half is what I want.  In all honesty, I expect the Jags to be there too. Time will tell.

One all draw I think which would be good for Queen's but disappointing for Thistle.

    Well, that's some ill-informed crap!

    1) Section C was marked "Queen's Park/Hospitality" - see below

    Queens-Park-vs-Arbroath-Supporter-Info.jpg

Section C wasn't listed when I went to get a ticket - just poor seats in A and B.

I remember the good old days when supporters would switch ends at almost every ground. Never any bother except for the odd bunch of silly wee boys that some teams seem to attract. Arbroath was always a great ground to visit - one of my favourite away days.

There are only 6 rows at Lesser. You’ve got a 33 percent chance of sitting in row 1 or 2 there.

The stand at Arbroath also not pitch side like I think it is at Lesser, it’s elevated some what in they 2 sections as there’s a disabled area infront.

I wasn't suggesting Lesser Hampden was any better. I was saying I wasn't prepared to do a 300 mile drive to sit at the front of the stand. I have been to Gayfield many times before.

Unlike last week, when we sold out our entire allocation at Lesser within hours, QP didn't sell out the seats allocated at Gayfield. Section C of the stand was nearly empty.

If you had brought a support, you would probably been given the terracing up to the Pleasureland corner.

    Poor show.

I decided not to bother as the only tickets available were in row 1 or 2 in Section B - not worth a 300 mile round trip. Section C was not available.

I’m sorry but that’s just patronising bullshit.

If these guys don’t keep 100% focus then they could quite easily miss the Arbirlot Road right hand turn off the Westway to take them down towards Keptie Pond (the quickest route) and end up all the way up at Lochlands cricket ground. That would mean adding on a good half a mile at the very least.

    M25 my arse.

Is that the same route that the 11:41 from Queen Street takes?

😂 - brilliant links in support of your argument.

OK back to reality, Can you back up your statements with some facts/evidence?

When I first started attending occaisional games (pay at the gate) the group I went with all sat in the comfy seats. They were all ST holders, and not members. We never had any problems sitting there. The stewards checked you had a season ticket, but not a membership, and I just said I was with them and there were no issues.

In fact if you entered via the main entrance (rather than the turnstiles) and bought a ticket at the wee table in reception, that ticket got you into the comfy seats too.

However, it could well be different this time round. At the two games we played last December I don't believe the comfy seats were available. I seem to remember that the question was asked about this, and the tea room, at the members meeting a month or so ago,  and at that point they didn't know what the setup would be, but suggested it may be similair to the December games.

I reckon it will be the same as the December games. The SFA would probably charge us more for the tea room, soft seats, smiling stewards, hot bovril, etc.
