Every club in the country will have held some form of trial like this multiple times over the years. It usually happens just before pre-season training starts, and the best are integrated into that as full trialists. As I say, it's not usually mentioned at all. Clubs are recommended by agents around 20-30 players every summer, a huge chunk come in the first week after contracts end, if you had twenty people applying for the job on one day, would you spend twenty days looking at them all individually, or get them all in for three?
