  1. f**k it, party in the smokers lounge. the school kids, they can have theirs behind the bike sheds as per tradition
  2. I think we're actually saving up for a massive problem further down the road, This social distancing pish - the idea that we should treat literally everyone we see as if they're a leper , will surely have serious adverse effects on peoples mental health and wellbeing. Especially for the developement children and young people. I don't mean by that that it will make people get a bit sad and down, I mean that longer term it will actual cause behavioural and anger problems . it's completely unnatural.
  3. Said it yesterday, non medical masks are at best a visual reminder, seeing everyone masked up stops people temporarily forgetting that there's a pandemic going on and allowing their behaviour to revert to type , other than that they appear to make little to no difference when it comes to spreading the virus , perhaps surgical masks would protect patients against many other less contagious diseases that a surgeon may have without realising, or normally harmless bacteria that would be exhaled through the nose and mouth that could be much more harmfull to a patient getting operated on. But if your surgeon had covid I doubt the wee mask they wear would help much
  4. since the world pretty much ground to a halt last year they have had f**k all to report on, and a watched pot never boils, so they have more or less been inventing gossip to keep their pages ticking over
  5. In countries where masks outdoors are mandatory it's made f**k all difference, in countries where masks indoor are NOT mandatory it's made f**k all difference, if you come into contact with a covid positive person whilst wearing a mask , you still have to self isolate. Masks are at best a visual reminder to stop people letting their guard down. we need to end this obsession with them
  6. But that is only part of it and probably not the biggest part. There's a tendency towards bureaucratic managerialism in centre left politics, as well as a preoccupation with the politics of behaviour and lockdowns fit into that. The SNP have fully embraced this and you have to assume it's pretty popular as the SNP are wildly popular here. At least it isn't unpopular. ETA: ANother factor is that for a lot of politically engaged people blaming your opponents for being stupid and evil is a big part of that engagement. Gammons, protesters and the like are convenient groups to blame for the virus. More than one person has said to me that they think that the spread is skewed to people who hate 'Wee Nippy'. Just look at the discussion here about Fallin a couple of weeks ago - they have the virus because they are all horrible bigoted No voting Rangers fans, not because it's an ex-mining town with significant poverty and probably an older population, all bigger risk factors for the virus than being a Rangers fan. Although not sure there's been any randomised controled trials to see which group of supporters are most likely to get Covid. Definitely Ross County fans IMO. Excellent couple of posts Chris one thing I would say though is, in my opinion that there has been too much hysteria about this virus from start to finish, That's my take, I quite like sturgeon and the snp but I don't like lockdowns in any form and I don't like the fact we've been treated like school children for over a year . and I don't drink so i'm not arsed about getting to the pub for a pint . I'm sure I have biases like everyone else
  7. who gives a f**k, theres a reason these clowns spend all day on the internet spouting their shite, theyd never have the baws to go and challenge people in real life, and even if they did nae c**t would listen, I realise that this post is ironic as they come but never mind, the point still stands. I don't know anyone in real life who is all knicker wetting aout covid. this time last year I had to almost sedate my partner as she was convinced that catching it meant certain death , thankfully that's subsided now. In the very early days my parents were quite shaken about my clinicly vulnerable sister who was acting somewhat blasé about it all, until she got her shielding letter, now a year and a bit on, I don't know anyone who's like those in that twitter post
  8. f**k it, looks like the rangers partys made next to nae difference after all!
  9. What is the defense argument likely to come down to? that it was an approved restraint and that the officer "reasonable believed" that Floyd was "at it" with his pleas of I can't breath and that the officer " reasonable believed " that Floyd would kick off if he released his restraint? so even if that were true, do you just kill someone if their not behaving? I mean I know it's America but come on there were 4 of them and they had the cuffs on him
  10. I like than analogy! Should add that unless you’re committing a very obvious AND serious breach ( like a big party with loud music). You probably have the same chance of getting in bother
  11. Has april fools came early this year? I can’t believe my eyes at this one
  12. I don't even think the re-opening we are getting now was on the cards until England published theirs, I recon they had every intention of going back to the old levels system complete with travel restrictions, wet pubs in level 1 only and all that pish. they haven't even given a pencilled in date for lifting all legal restrictions
  13. must have read yestardays wrong then from stv news ; The daily test positivity rate is 2.6% and statistics also revealed a total of 264 people are being treated in hospital, with 22 in ICU.
  14. only 5 less in hospital and no change to ICU, only a wee rolly today lads, save the cigars
  15. i'll be controversial here. I like interacting with others at work. I'm currently part time WFH and in the office . when I am in the office others are on their WFH days so it's only about 20% full. I find this & full time WFH both to be very isolating . and absolutely shite for learning and experience gaining, when your all sat together you can look over to someone to see what they're doing before you ask them a question, you just can't call someone on teams multiple times a day without becoming a pest. . we never really went for pints as a team but we did do such basic every day shit as getting rolls for breakfast and sitting together to eat them. The people here are not my "mates" as such but it's better than sitting yourself all day - either at home or in the office
  16. i'm really shite when pressed on the ball so i'm quite liking the idea of this no tackling socialy distant fives tbqhwy
  17. There won’t be any It’s very clear that none of the parties are going to make the first move, they’re going to let boris with his 80 seat majority and 3/4 of the parliamentary term left in front of him do that for them. He can afford to go first as he is unlikely to be affected politically if it goes tits up No one here, especially not the snp are going to open up ahead of schedule incase cases, hospitals and deaths rise to unacceptable ( political) levels because if that were to happen they would be crucified for “ recklessness “
  18. You don’t have to wear a mask at all times in an office like you do when you’re in a shop. You can take it off when you’re seated at a desk. Those in a workshop environment are not so lucky so there’s already double standards .
  19. Exaclty, the comparison I would make is imagine being told to wear a motorcycle helmet for going for a walk in the park? nothing wrong with it when riding a motorcycle but completely disproportionate for something low risk
  20. I honestly can't see it being many, even in asia it was hardly a majority who wore them before the pandemic and not to the extent that is required now. Besides so much of our communications relies on facial expressions and body language , you can't just pretend that doesn't matter. As for social distancing , I can't image any scenario where we as a society simply treat everyone we come across as lepers - which is what we've been doing , it would do untold damage to our collective mental wellbeing. for most people some form of human physical contact is essential. These c***s can f**k off
  21. I don't think that's true over all but there's probably one or two having their ego massively over inflated. for years I just assumed that everyone worked for the money, and that managers and people who climbed high up the ladder just done it to make more money than those further down . but no there are definitely some for whom their job means everything to them and how they feel about themselves
  22. come on now that's very surface level assumption making. The links between labour and the torries with their respective media friends and ally's have been built up over decades if not centauries and often involve several generations of the same family when it comes to owners and senior figures . The links between the conservative party and the daily mail have been in place for longer than the SNP have existed. The SNP were just a fringe party until devolution and are only now in their first spell in power, albeit quite a long one! You can't forge the sort of media relationship that labour and tory have in 20 years, especially in a 20 years when media has went through a time of unprecedented change
  23. Had a read at the comments, (i know i know it’s Twitter) it seems like she’s completely misjudged the room there Overwhelmingly negative response
