  1. Longtime ffs, common seriously. Did you think that was true 100% as you typed it out. You'll wake up in the morning, read what you typed and think "what was I on"
  2. I would expect there to be eventually a Scottish cup for all the teams from tier 5 and below to enter. Whether that's the trophy that was the SJC or a new one who knows, I think and hope there will be an all in Scottish
  3. Longtime I've listened and listened to some shite over the years in here, from junior hardliners and from pyramid hardliners as well, as I'm sure you have. We've all said things on here regarding each of our views, some with even stronger views that other don't like, me too and I get that, the offensive people and ignorant people on here, we know the main ones, we just ignore but for my tuppence worth I will say.... The junior cup is not embedded inside the pyramid, it isn't, only in certain peoples minds. The teams that have moved from the junior ranks to the pyramid ranks, most have retained their junior status because they don't know any better or their committee isn't forward, future thinking people. Time is time and eventually these people will move out and younger ones will take over and the views of the club will change, the membership of junior clubs will slowly become less and less each year I don't believe the junior cup will be played this season for the simple reason as I see it virtually impossible to fit in, especially for the teams in the West tier 6 league but then again, I'm not a fixture guy. Agree the mess about the East and North etc.. trying to find a way that they can easily and smoothly move into the pyramid is hard but sure someday I'm sure it will be done. Yes in the East, there are a few teams who intend to move to the pyramid for season 2021/22 (FACT - and no I wont elaborate) and will those couple of teams moving have a knock on effect with the other East teams, mibbiees aye, mibbies naw. Not sure how the tayside and Aberdeen sides will work out so its anyone's guess. If they all move over there could be the ''South Challenge Cup' and maybe a northern counterpart 'North Challenge Cup' and even an 'East Challenge cup' and then there could be a 'Scottish Non League Cup' What would this mean for the Scottish Junior cup well the grade will truly be finished and they could either use the trophy for the main non league cup or just put it in the SFA History room. Right now we are where we are, Covid stricken and football, all football, is suffering so we have to get back to what we all love, football and here's hoping the season starts. I'm looking forward to the league starting, (fingers crossed) and just want to enjoy watching football. I'm sure as the season starts there will be the usual banter on here, windups, and egits and even the trolls. Im happy to read all that on here, why, because it means the season has started back
  4. Yeah of course, I think we all want fans back. I cant see any team continuing easily for a season without fans, certainly from the Lowland league down. I cant see fans being back in October the way all these covid spikes are happening and then we have to wait on the tests with the top teams
  5. I believe that is correct but then again, no fans are allowed into football matches
  6. if its true that there will only be the SSC then it has to be but the Scottish senior cup will obviously take precedence. the Scottish junior cup is not part of the Lowland association so if the stop the other domestic cups from happening to make space then im sure the SJC wont happen either
  7. Heard that there will be only one cup this year which would be the south challenge cup. Makes sense, excellent draw with some excellent ties
  8. I know in the 90's Benburb's Social club was open on a Friday and Saturday and definitely during the day of training, Monday n Wednesday but cant remember if was open other days but know it brought in a substantial amount of money
  9. think the thread is about Dundonald Bluebell ? Well I'm positive it is !!!
  10. I suppose the reason for the post was that it has interested me in past but it came up in conversation yesterday and though this would be a good place to find out the state of affairs in regards the social clubs the now and in the past. Some social clubs were owned by the team, some were owned separately and had a connection and worked in unison. The Glasgow Perthshire team have played at Keppoch Park, Ashfield Street, while the social club with the name of 'Glasgow Perthshire Social Club' was on Springburn Road, which is about 2 miles away with the duel carridgeway and all that, mibbeys it wasnt connected, am just not sure But its also good to know what teams have a social club and ones who own and run their social club
  11. no it wasn't, we all know he really meant 'Dundonald Bluebell'
  12. ffs , common sense, he was meaning Dundonald Bluebell
  13. Speaking with a friend the other day and about social clubs and which ones are connected to their local club or owned. Pollok used to have the club beside the park which is now a restaurant.. Benburb's social club used to be in the old ground but was burnt down about 2000, maybe earlier Arthurlie's has a social club just up on the main street and not to far away from the ground. Interestingly enough, I was asked Glasgow Perthshire had a social club and I wasn't sure but as the park is beside Ashfield's park I was informed there used to be the Glasgow Perthshire social club on Sprinburn road so would that have been the one connected? What clubs, especially all the ones who moved form the junior ranks in the West to the Pyramid, have a social club connected to them ?
  14. There are various options, but until a start date is confirmed nothing can be set in stone. Agreed I'm sure the WOSFL and Lowland League have worked together to see what options are available with possible start dates. We have to be aware, Football could be hit if the Scottish government see a rise in spikes of Covid and football may start next year, or start Mid October this year or November etc... Nothing can be worked out 100% as we just dont know how and when Covid will league us but I'm sure every eventuality of a start date has been looked at.
  15. Interested to find out what fans views of spfl 2 and 1 teams are of this type of league and do you see your team starting a U20s team in the future or hope they do or don't do There's been a few senior teams drop their reserve team due to financial implications of Covid and with Edinburgh City in SPFL2 and East Fife in the SPFL1 both having a U20 team in the development league last year and continuing the same with confidence for this forth coming season, what's everyone's thoughts of more SPFL 2 or 1 teams starting an U20 team to join the Lowland Development League with all games on a Friday evening. For anyone who doesn't know, last year the development league had 29 teams in two all in conference divisions but this year due to new WOSFL starting, some also started a U20 team and this coming season the league now has 68 teams split into two regions East and West with 3 conference divisions in the West and 2 conference divisions in the East. Current listings for both regions season 20/21 are attached
  16. yes 100% but I don't agree or like the way some of their fans or, dare i say it, members act on here but then again, some of the abuse they receive on here is not nice either
  17. Ped I get what your saying and agree with most, having been involved with junior football all my days, I loved it but realized early on it's a glass ceiling/bubble and that's why I always wanted pyramid football. Junior Association football is dying, there's nothing to hide, it was amazing at times but times move on. Yes you will get people from the pro juniors saying this new league is a shambless, the standard is crap, this and that, or any blip along the road gives an excuse to put these new pyramid leagues down BUT at the end of the Day its only football, junior, senior, youth, amateur etc.. the difference is the junior teams have left the junior league for whatever reason and are now in the senior pyramid league and if those teams want to progress to try their luck in a higher league like the rest of the teams in the pyramid, then that's fantastic, if other teams are happy to stay at the level they are at then what's wrong with that. I think we will find that there will be more junior teams leaving the junior leagues next season especially when they see the progress some have made this season and previous seasons.
  18. Agree with you in what you are saying although from last year juniors and the teams moving to senior status, most players will or would have been on an amateur's registration. This is where the lads receive a payment to cover their travelling expenses and training gear, washing it and so on, as players on amateur's forms are not allowed to receive payments from clubs other than what's stated and more. Its up to clubs and players to honor this but many times there has been problems in the past. Players taking money and then leaving and not bothering to return. The downside for those players is that the club let every other club know what they did and then usually blackballed or sometimes the clubs fall on hardship times and don't have the money to pay the players. You would think clubs would honor the players and players stay but first comes first is the club and if players are leaving then they are the last to get paid if your team doesn't have a wealth of money. That's if this is on an amateur's form. I would like to add, I find it sad and embarrassing of ANY player on an amateur's form who wants money from the club for the time during the COVID. for one thing, all clubs are stretched and second as theesel1994 says, they aint playing, they aint travelling and they aint training, so they should not be picking up a penny during this time
  19. I'm sure every team in Scottish football have looked into the development league, its common sense to do that but it would only work with part time teams in the current development league structure, the big teams who are full time will be in some other kind of game day structure through the day either in a reserve league or as some do already U18s. There's a few teams who have stopped their youth and or reserve team as they have to cost cut due to the corvid situation and the effect of club revenue. Will the development league get bigger, yes as we know there's a few teams getting ready for next season. Will more teams from the SPFL join, possibly yes I suspect this maybe a big interest for quite a few of them. Lets see how this season goes with the development league and as I said before the big question for most of us is which cracking game to go to on a Friday evening as there will be a few every Friday night
  20. Hey Kirk St Maritz There been a few people shouting their mouths off, either at the windup, trolling, some not fully understanding the concept and or even the long term positive effect this will have on youth football Mid Annadale played in the Lowland league last year against the following teams: BSC University of Stirling (SLFL) Bonnyton Thistle Musselburgh Athletic Heriot Watt University Kelty Hearts Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts Penicuik Athletic Civil Service Strollers Preston Athletic Dunipace Camelon Juniors Broxburn Athletic Newtongrange Star and guess what, a lot of travelling for them last season where the opposition only had to travel to them once and we HAVE NOT HEARD Mid Annadale moan about the Lowland league from last year or heard them moan about it this year, no, why because they know the benefits of the league, they know the positives and know all the potential this league offers youth and first teams together. The Lowland league has regionalised the league into West and East regions which is fantastic and then they stated they may have to put the West into 3 divisions if its a late start, which they have done so and they also stated they might regionalise it with in the West region as well to save on travelling and also seeding Its very easy to work out the league structure, its very easy to work out why and guess what, the lowland Development league is very experienced in organising this level and a sit has grown continuously since it stared and I suspect it will be bigger next year
  21. For Every team it costs money to run a home game, some might be £200 some might be £100 some might be less. I know teams who will be charging £1 or £2 to get in, I know of teams who will have donation buckets and its up to the visitors to decide if they want to put money in. You also have to remember for the past 4 years or so that the development league has bene operating the teams have all received their money back that they paid out for referees fees. So if you paid out £60 for each 13 home games, that's £780 you will get back form the SFA. Unless they are so skint they cannot afford to give the development teams any money back. This has been talked about earlier. If you are renting the council park then I'm sure you can charge but I think there's got to be some arrangement in place. Sure someone on here can confirm yes or no. You can definitely have a donation bucket for the games
  22. So outwith all the bitching about this team and that team training I heard that the WOSFL have implemented that training can start on the 20th of July and must comply with all CONVID and health and safety regulations and it means 4 players per coach no contact and 2 meter rule still applied. What's everyone's thoughts on this and have I got it correct from my interpretation of the new rules
  23. There's no arguments, if you knew how P&B worked you'd realise why some people are the way they are. I think most realise how good this potentially is and First team clubs that have added a U20 team realise the importance and the possible big effect it can have on their club as a whole. This is a development league and that's what its about, developing youth players and to reach a level that will give them a chance to progress to the first team of their club or even beyond. Last season in the development league there were clubs in the development divisions at mid level or even lower down in the two divisions who supplied players to their first teams and other players to teams even higher up, That's why you have teams like East Fife and Edinburgh City who are in the SPFL 1 and 2 respectively wanting to continue in the development league. There's been a few blips along the way and some moans and some blinkered moans about the league draw, structure etc... but in general nearly everyone is looking forward to a fantastic future of development football that I believe will be here for a long time to come. Last year the league had 29 teams, this year the lowland development league has 68 teams with 5 from the West continuing this year for a total of 38 West teams, 33 are brand new to development league. I mean look at the list below a fully functioning West Region development league that we believe and told it will be ALL-IN in next season West Conference A West Conference B West Conference C Bellshill Athletic Blantyre Victoria Bonnyton Thistle BSC Glasgow Caledonian Braves Carluke Rovers Cumbernauld Colts East Kilbride Forth Wanderers Kirkintilloch Rob Roy Mid Annandale Newmains United Shettleston St Roch’s Benburb Clydebank Drumchapel United Johnstone Burgh Maryhill Pollok Renfrew Rossvale St Anthony’s St Cadocs Vale of Leven Yoker Athletic Ardrossan Winton Rovers Arthurlie Beith Cumnock Darvel Irvine Meadow Kilwinning Rangers Largs Thistle Maybole Neilston Troon Whittles Victoria and with an east region below, I can only see the development league becoming a lot stronger and bigger with many first teams benefiting greatly from these players development East Conference A East Conference B Bonnyrigg Rose Camelon Edinburgh City Edinburgh South Edinburgh United Edinburgh University Gala Fairydean Rovers Glenrothes Kelty hearts Kennoway Star Hearts Kirkcaldy and Dysart Musselburgh Athletic Penicuik Athletic Preston Athletic Sauchie Spartans Blackburn United Civil Service Strollers Dalkeith Thistle Dunipace East Fife Heriot-Watt University Hill of Beath Hawthorn Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts Jeanfield Swifts Leith Athletic Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale Tynecastle University of Stirling Whitehill Welfare
  24. and doom and gloom is back Anyways folks, which team are you going to follow out of the 68 development teams
  25. Its very easy to see why. its different from the junior days, youth players are seeing potential to go to a higher level. in every football committee and set up there are older members and younger ones coming through with updated visions they can be in a U20s team and then if doing well make the step to the first team for experience and if too much, go back to the u20s until developed and ready its a pathway, there is interest from all angles , there's more people wanting involved, there's youths seeing a clear pathway and want to stay in football at a chance of it
