  1. Don't really get the logic in this argument. More clubs going part time, as looks possible, will mean that full time players will have to go part time so it's possibly the same player pool of players your attracting. Is there really that much of a wage gap between lower paid full time players ( like ours are probably) and the better part time players who will command better wages? Given the problem we have in attracting good full time players to come here, how can you be sure we'll attract good part timers. Some Lowland League and WoSL teams will still pay more than us anyway if we go part time which will be a better attraction for Central Belt players. A hybrid model might work but that raises more problems with maybe split training times, etc.
  2. Certainly doesn't come across that we've got any "characters" in the dressing room who can lift spirits when needed. Just need to watch them in match pre-match warm ups, looks like a chore for them with little or no inter-actions with each other. No Mikey Doyle type jokers in the pack by the looks of it.
  3. Aye, and when he gets us promoted we should bin him again cos he'd probably take us right back down within a season or two.
  4. The thing is the longer he's out of work the more chance of him considering offers further down the chain or he risks becoming the "forgotten man". Not sure if his Dumfries connections would sway him, if the money's right he might consider it. If he's waiting on a Championship opening, apart from Ayr, where I think he's liked and loathed in equal measure, what other Managers coat is on a shoogly peg. Anyway all hypothetical the noo cos we've got a man in place under contract.
  5. No problem with him keeping the players in the dressing room as long as its a two way "discussion" with the players allowed to have their say as well without fear of reprisal.
  6. Could they not have printed a picture of him in another clubs top? He's had plenty clubs, why did they have to rub it in that he was once at QoS. Seriously, yes seriously, I may be in a very low minority but I didn't think he was as bad as a lot of our fans made out. Worked hard, scored a few goals, but struggled to get game time after an injury. Doubt if many fans of his previous clubs will be overly complimentary though. Good luck to him.
  7. Hope Church doesn't turn out to be this seasons version of Chima.
  8. That's surely why we employ physios and sports scientists to advise the manager and ensure injured players train accordingly and don't rush back too soon. I think Brydon broke down in training cos we tried to rush him back. I agree tho, we do seem to pick up a high percentage of injuries in training.
  9. Kelty coming off the back of a pumping from Falkirk will be looking to restore some pride. Maybe were a bit unlucky with a couple of decisions. We don't have anywhere near the same firepower as Falkirk and Bartley has us trying to play a form of football that the players don't seem comfortable with or are maybe just not good enough to execute. We're still missing a few players through injury or are 50/50 to be available, and two of the players we expect a lot from, Connelly and Cochrane (Saturdays cracking goal aside) haven't been performing anywhere near the standard we need in midfield.. On the upside, we've ran Falkirk and Hamilton close the past two weeks before falling to sucker punch late goals, so if the players concentrate, put the effort in and cut out silly mistakes we may just take something from this game. Hoping to take in my first game at Kelty on Saturday, travelling more in hope than expectation tbh. IN MARVIN WE TRUST (but not sure for how long).
  10. Every defeat, Falkirk, surprise surprise, are of no more or less of a relevance to me than every other team we lose to. I'm a bitter person most of the time tbf, not exclusive to football.
  11. You've (perhaps inadvertently) admitted that Reilly is a good striker there. It's on record now.
  12. Not exclusively a Reilly or Bartley tactic, see it quite often in all grades, the striker leaning into the defender or giving the defender a wee nudge when the balls in the air. The trick is to time it right so that the Ref sees the defender giving a retaliatory push and maybe awarding a free kick. 9/10 in that situation the defender will be penalised if the Ref sees it. Of course I don't expect Falkirk players would ever attempt such underhand tactics.
  13. Must be great living in the Falkirk area with all these marvellous doctors and physios about with the ability to diagnose from the Stands if a player is really injured or faking it.
  14. Aye, better if they tried to cause havoc out on the streets whilst wearing balaclavas.
  15. I used to park near the college (?) if I was early enough (saved parking fee and just about as quick to get away) but my ageing bones mean I like to park closer.
  16. Same with the section of seats next to where we were situated, too simple for them to put a tape or rope from the top down that section of seating to indicate it wasn't to be used. Or move the tarp that was covering the next section over a bit. Don't know if it was a wind up but someone said it was an area where flags and banners could be placed. Also while I'm on the moan, can't the car park stewards arrange the parking of vehicles in rows of two leaving adequate space between each double row to get cars out and away early if required. Obviously at £5 a go the more cars crammed in the better for Falkirk but it's not handy if you've got to wait ages on someone dawdling back to their vehicle or you need to leave in an emergency. It all seemed a bit chaotic with cars going in all directions.
  17. My thoughts exactly, Connelly, and Cochrane to a slightly lesser extent, were poor. One of those games, the harder you try, the less effective you become. I thought Bartley should have freshened things up a lot sooner too and also introduced Hutchinson for 20 minutes or so to give a bit of physicality up front. We're still a bit powder puff in midfield too, not winning the ball further up which doesn't take much pressure off the defence. A game where we could have sneaked a point or even stolen a win but not really surprised we collapsed so near the end.
  18. Wasn't having a pop at you, more at Greenacres who appears to know every players contract agreements. I actually agree with you about possible clauses in loan deals that loan players have to play when available at the request the parent club. I used Cameron as an example because he was the most obvious example of a loan player imo being continually selected when he was as good as an empty jersey most weeks.
  19. You mean that when Wullie Gibson took over from Johnston he actually chose to continually play an ineffective Innes Cameron rather than being forced to by a clause in the loan contract. That should have been a warning as to his managerial ability. Fwiw I think that some loan deals may require that a minimum number of appearances be made.
  20. Hardly hiding, the assistant referee nearest the tunnel, or fourth official if there is one, usually goes to the head of the tunnel area at the final whistle to watch for any potential trouble as the players, coaches, etc go to the dressing rooms. Noticed it happening a few times this season but not sure if it's standard procedure now.
  21. At £5 a pop to park our tractors and the price of corn shooting up its no wonder we don't bring many up.
  22. OR, rattle in a couple of early goals and gain confidence from that.
  23. Anyone know the situation with Cochrane, he seemed to twist his leg last week and went off ( didn't look in too much discomfort tbf). Hope Efe's got his alarm clock set, really need him to coach the young defence through games. Goes without saying really, a hard game against a team on a good run, bringing home a point would be OK imo.
  24. Difficult to avoid teams we've played loads of times over the years tbf, the "foreign" teams are out iirc, Premiership "B" teams I wouldn't want to meet anyway, only leaves a few from L2 possibly. At least it's a team outwith our division and at home, although a day in Arbroath would have been nice. Edit: Just noticed New Saints are still in but we've been there too.
