  1. I'd hoped we'd left pitch invasions to the likes of Partick and Ayr fans. We've had plenty of important goals scored over the years but can't really recall many or any times when our fans have gone over the barriers to celebrate. We've gone on the pitch a couple time up when we've won titles at Forfar but not during games. It amazes me when players are booked for leaving the pitch or going over to the fans to celebrate a goal, but in big competitions like the Euros or World Cup, when they score players run to the sidelines and subs run onto the park without anything being done.
  2. It won't alter the fact that we are the BIG team in the Region.
  3. What! With no cushioned (maybe even heated) seating, maybe even a restricted view and possibly too far away from the buffet table at half time, can't see that catching on.
  4. Don't know if it's supporters being deliberately thick but the notion that having a big striker will mean nothing but launching high balls up via route one ad nauseum seems to be their main fear. It is possible to play "the modern way" with a tall physical striker to get on the end of crosses in from the wings when the ball players have played their fancy passing with movement and pace in the build up. If your striker is also fairly decent with the ball at his feet, who knows, he may also be able to contribute to playing "the modern way".
  5. Thought McGuffie was quite effective in the spell just before being subbed.
  6. I thought he was ok when Gibson came on, pushing us up the park on that side.
  7. Harsh on Logan, always going to be difficult playing out of position.
  8. He's pronounced Kelty the "wrong way" imo since he's started. I wonder if it annoys Keltonians as much as us being called Doonhammers. He's stopped doing a couple of annoying things like giving out the score after every goal and he reads the half time scores out properly now. All in all he's no bad. Not sure he pronounces McKay's name properly though.
  9. I was thinking the "Kelty" sign had been left so our PA man can see how it's spelt. Am I correct in saying its pronounced Kelty and not "Kealty" as he says it. Apologies in advance if I've been pronouncing it wrong all these years.
  10. Aye, comparing one game this season to the performance of our defence over all of last season seems logical.
  11. Which two is he better than? McKay? possibly, Brydon? don't think so, McClelland? raw and rash at times but has done ok, Ambrose? calm and experienced at the back, might get caught out for pace occasionally. East is good at carrying the ball out from the back but he has his flaws also. I wouldn't tear up my season ticket if he came back but I wouldn't be chasing him to return either.
  12. I'm the opposite, I think Botterill will be preferred starter unless there's something in Johnston's loan agreement about appearances. I've only seen Johnston once for us, via stream at Elgin, and he had a tendency to want an extra touch on the ball, not good when being closed down. Even if he is arguably better than Botterill, if your defenders aren't comfortable on the ball playing out from the back even a top keeper can be made to look shaky.
  13. Can't agree on Botterill not commanding his box,, true he was shaky on Saturday but thought at Queens Park he was decisive coming for and claiming crosses. Botterill's kicking may be a bit iffy but watching Johnston at Elgin he had a few scary moments too wanting an extra touch or two before clearing. Botterill clear first choice for me.
  14. No you didn't, not in league games at Palmy anyway, as comfortable and virtually trouble free performances as we could have wished for. Can't comment too much on games in Edinburgh, wasn't there, but going by reports on the last game you played well for the first half before we took command.
  15. ^^^^^ Pretty much this. As much as I'd like to be proved wrong I can't see Edinburgh City being as crap against us this season as they were last season. Bartley must use this week to get his defence ( and Midfield) sorted out. There's too much indecision, too many basic errors and horrendous passing. If we're playing out from the back we need players who are comfortable on the ball under pressure, have quick feet and have a bit of vision to see what passes are on. Just doing the basics would be nice though.
  16. Noticed on a few occasions on Saturday that Alloa players playing the ball over our defence for wide men to run on to managed to shape it or put spin on it to take the bounce out on landing. Don't know if its something they work on or are just good at it. We constantly overhit passes for front men to run on to.
  17. Why do you have to be so aggressive if you don't want searched, if you have the right to refuse to be searched just say so, no need to tell anybody trying to do their job to f-off.
  18. My thoughts at the time from behind the goal, a poor pass by Todd but McKay was rooted to the spot and made no attempt to intercept. I haven't seen replays so maybe being a bit harsh on him.
  19. Saw that from the Oakbank, took a bit of time before Stewards actually decided to put staff up next to them rather than just standing down at the front. (more entertaining watching the Alloa neds than the game at the time)
  20. Don't honestly see anything untoward in the Stewards actions there tbh, unless you go out of your way to be easily offended. I entered via the Portland Drive turnstile and was also asked what was in my jacket pockets, my glasses and phone. Didn't bother me at all him asking. Seems Stewards are damned if they do and damned if they don't when doing their job.
  21. Not sure what stage Brydon's recovery is at, and agree he's our best cb, but we don't want to rush him back before he's absolutely fit. Bartley's got to get his defence sorted in the meantime or displays like 1st half yesterday could easily be repeated.
  22. Fair enough that Ambrose steadied us a bit defensively today but it should be taken into account that Alloa had a commanding lead when he came on and they weren't maybe pressing as much as they had been in the first half. Whether it would have made a difference if he'd been on from the start we'll never know. As for discussions about McGuffie, I thought he as one of the few players who looked like making something happen when attacking second half and was a bit surprised he was hooked. The introduction of Gibson however injected a bit of life into us and helped us finish strongly. Cochrane has been solid in the League Cup games but he was poor today, and with Todd also having a bit of a 'mare at times the midfield was very weak. Deserved win for Alloa it has to be said, played with the energy and commitment that we sadly lacked for most of the game.
  23. Aye, it's Dumfries Show weekend so should have expected rain, surprised its taken so long. Sun trying to break through but think it's losing the battle.
  24. Tbf, it's the little things like the neglected sign or the office/shop being shut when it is advertised as open that brings it home that we are at the arse end of professional football.
