  1. As has already been covered, a better performance today, not so much tippy-tappying about at the back and at least making the opposition keeper work. Can't remember Botterrill having a save to make an defence looked fairly solid. Luckily we didn't fall to the usual late sucker punch. Mumbongo did well when he came on, at least gave the Kelty defence something to worry about and unlucky with a shot off the post, I won't get too carried about him yet though. I don't like criticising Refs but that one today doesn't help himself, how he worked out some of those early bookings is a mystery. Someone must have had a word with him at half time 'cos he calmed down a bit. Anyway clean sheet and a point away from home against ( another) bogey team not to be sniffed at even if Kelty weren't at their best.
  2. As admirable as this fans actions are with the clean up its really only papering over some very large cracks. For instance a couple of the the outer doors at the turnstiles at Portland Drive have been smashed, if as seems to currently be the case, we're only using 2 turnstiles why not brick up the unused ones, I'm sure the Charman can spare a brickie and labourer for a day or two. And I don't mean just throwing up some concrete blocks but a proper sympathetic repair that doesn't stick out like a sair thumb and look worse than the smashed doors. That's just one instance that I notice when attending but there must be many more. As I say, the efforts of this person, and other volunteers, is admirable, but some things need a bit of professional work done. I can kind if sympathise with the Board in a way, do you spend money tarting up a stadium when you can't guarantee which trajectory the club is heading, and which may never again see substantial crowds on regular basis. It wouldn't be so bad if the team was doing well, you might excuse a run down stadium a wee bit, but we've got the worst of both worlds, a poor team playing in a decaying stadium.
  3. And how many applicants would you get for the job if that was In the contract? Every Club in the land would surely have that clause in if it was feasible or legal. It would still probably involve a pay-off fee anyway.
  4. Agreed a deserved win overall but Connelly missed a couple of chances first half when he skied the ball over when well placed. We were ok for about the first 10 minutes of the game then it was basically trying to hit on the break. Reilly and Cochrane coming on second half gave us another (brief) decent spell but at times it was like a training game for Hamilton.
  5. And in that spell of 4 or 5 poor seasons the cry from the fans seems to have gone along the same lines of writing the season off and regrouping for the next season, yet each season just seems to get worse with no apparent recovery plan in place, and no outward signs that those in charge are even that bothered about the obvious overall decline of the Club.
  6. Aye, they've tried everything to make it interesting, and it's not worked. Get it back to the original format. The EFL equivalent doesn't invite "outside" teams, ( apart from EPL U21's) it's been tampered with too much up here. The only upside as far as fans are concerned is the prospect of a different away day.
  7. Palmerston not in the running SD? It's not as if it's a great distance for Airdrie fans to travel, about an hour down the road. Might even give the Club a wee nudge to tidy the bit up on advance.
  8. Doubt the SFA will have much if any input seeing as its an SPFL tournament.
  9. Pretty sure it used to be up to the parent club if a loan player was allowed to play against them but now think it's actual rule that they can't play.
  10. Just noticed the Standard says Dumfries Office is closed, never realised that. Editor Jackie Grant's number given as 07917 516166 maybe can point you in the right direction.
  11. I wasn't in attendance and haven't seen any footage, what kind of injury has Stone sustained?
  12. Aye, Billy must have had a word and told Marv that shots at goal is a basic requirement of trying to win games.
  13. Two away games without a shot on target, a long journey up to theoretically difficult opponents at Cove with Marv probably happy to come away with a narrow defeat, sorry count me out of this one. Ok, add me to the list of "not a true supporter", it's getting truer by the week.
  14. Was Marv in a surly mood? Ah well probably understandable given all the flak aimed at him.
  15. Without checking you'll have a good few goals coming from other positions though so that takes a bit of pressure of a lone striker, especially if the lone striker is chipping in with a few assists.
  16. It must have been the Alloa centre half's easiest game of the season on Saturday, he won almost every header lobbed up towards Hutchison. I think the only header Hutchison "won" bounced off the top of his head in the build up to the goal iirc, certainly wasn't meant. As has been said, maybe the lone striker role doesn't suit him but, imo, impressions up til now aren't filling me with hope that he'll score double figures in a season. Wish Iain Wilson all the best at Morton, he always seemed to try his best when he played, shame it didn't work out here. I hope his injury problems don't suddenly flare up now he's signed a permanent deal though.
  17. He's given Hutchison a 2 year deal, would you trust him to get a decent option in.
  18. ^^^^ Very much this. Thankfully we dragged Alloa down to our level to save us from another defeat, and will probably keep Bartley in a job a wee while longer. I was wondering during the game what we actually do at training (apart from players picking up mysterious injuries), our passing is atrocious, our ball control is atrocious and we don't look fitter than any of the part timers in the division. Do we work on tactics, if so the players don't seem to be tuned in to what's being said. Must be difficult to work on tactics though if your starting line-up isn't settled from week to week. I also think there's a few players need to have a good look at themselves and ask if a life as a professional footballer is a realistic ambition, on some of today's showings they should be looking for better job security.
  19. How does he announce the music, by artists name or record serial number.* *I know they don't actually use records anymore but I'm old and nostalgic.
  20. Aye, he looked like he was trying to hammer home a point to the Manager in that game.
  21. He better do it quick then, his time, and games, are fast running out.
  22. Stunning. Get it framed. I'd buy a copy of that, or maybe a couple. Another money earner for the great man's Testimonial or for charity of his choice. On the game, Dobbs got the backing of a crowd he deserved. The football was secondary but the "Scotland Legends" team definitely looked fitter and were taking it more seriously than the Queens team. "Tan Man" Lyle still looks fit but I'm not advocating signing him up. Alan Martin in goal and the fans on the terrace looked to have forgave and forgot their spat and he was rightly given a warm reception which is how it should be on occasions like this. As or the PA man, agree that having a team sheet would have helped, just calling out numbers for the subs wasn't a good look, and not giving out the correct score was also bad considering he likes to do it after every goal, it shouldn't detract from the purpose of the day. Would maybe have been nice to see Faddy swapping sides for a wee bit too. I've still no idea who the Scotland "Legend" was in goal though.
  23. FTFY. *And taxis aren't always that reliable either.
