  1. SNW continues a long Star Trek tradition of having a complete and utter disaster of an episode in the middle of a series. The first three quarters of that was so bad it was almost unwatchable. The last 5 minutes were poignant though. This one can join Catspaw from the original series, The Royale in The Next Generation and Move Along Home from DS9 as episodes I will just skip and never watch again.
  2. Hayfever is attacking me badly just now. Antihistamines help but only to an extent. My eyes get it the worst. Pollen and cat hair are the worst for me.
  3. He says he ain't going. I believe him. He won't go willingly.
  4. This is an interesting point. I had many more sick days in my old job, which I liked OK but wasn't that fussed about, compared to my current one which I like a lot more.
  5. The guy working on my house said he would be here first thing. He showed up at 10.45 to tell me he needed to pick something up before getting started. He has literally just started the job. 3pm.
  6. Fishing for an update on the Prof? That man has taken years off my life. But today, for some reason, I have been copied into a conversation between him and a senior colleague. No idea why, but seeing the Prof utterly destroy this guy has been really very amusing. I guess it's funny when it happens to someone else. And seeing the other guy get increasingly, by increments, frustrated and angry has for some reason I cannot explain amused me no end. The guy is a complete tool; and I for one am glad that the Prof has done some good and ruined his day. The best bit is, the substance of the matter is so unbelievably petty.
  7. This is my thinking too. Things like stress can cause physical issues, most commonly sleeplessness which then brings its own issues leading to a feeling of being run down. I do however believe that if you are ill, and I mean seriously ill, a positive outlook can help.
  8. In my life, I have lived 39 years in Scotland, 3 years in Wales and 6 months in Sweden. Now, let me list the number of times I have been a victim of crime. Scotland: 0 Sweden: 0 Wales: 2 Thieving Welsh b*****ds nicked my moped, then broke into my car and tried to nick it. Oh, and my (then-6 year old) step-daughter had a knife pulled on her in Wales.
  9. Phone Channel 5. See if you can get on the Nightmare Neighbours Next Door show. You may have to reenact some of this though, like picking up an envelope, opening it, reading it and feigning shock.
  10. Kay Burley equating this to the miners strike. Daily Mail equating the loss of trains to lockdown. BBC bland to the point of sleep. British journalism is utter bollocks.
  11. The guys finished and were away by 3pm. The next crew come tomorrow. The wife now wants is to redecorate (me having done it 11 months ago). Reason to be cheerless.
  12. Paramount are the real pirates here. Pulling the latest Discovery season from Netflix the day before it was due to launch, creating their own paywall for no good reason - very few (if any) people can afford to sign up to every subscription service going.
  13. I had a wee issue with my bill. Phoned Ovo (whom I have been with since 2016). I entered my account number on the phone keypad - number not recognised. Got through to a human. Again, I wasn't on their system. Serious Scottish Power vibes with this. The woman i got through to said she would look into this and call me the next morning. I spent the evening assuming this was bollocks and I would be calling them again. But no. She phoned me back at 9 am. They found my account - it had moved to another system. But these moves are worrying me. I went to them in 2016 as customer service was my main thing, after years of being shafted by SP.
  14. Been there with my wife's step-mother. It's 3 years since we have seen them but in the years up to then, it was awful. She was just a vile woman (still is, but no longer in our lives thankfully). Her father now has lost all connections to all of his kids.
  15. After a wee delay, work getting done on the house has started today. It is a bit strange having teams of men I don't know traipsing through the house. I don't know how @RH33 copes with this on a regular basis.
  16. With costs going the way they are, it'll be nearer 70 quid this time.
  17. The latest episode of Strange New Worlds had Jesse James Keitel as the main guest character. They didn't make a big deal about her character being trans, it was only really hinted at. What they did do was give her tremendous role. She absolutely stole the episode. I found that a bigger deal than if they had made the whole script about her being trans, as other shows would have done.
  18. What is a first cousin once removed? Isn't that a second cousin?
  19. Schapps on ITV now being interviewed. Rail workers should go back to work in gratitude for furlough apparently.
