  1. Simmons is SPL class. Far too good for the likes of us. Cheers Gus.
  2. Hutton was a decent keeper for us but he left us at a low point after that cup final error. Hasn't been a great success at Accies either. Personally I'd rather keep Robinson. If Robinson moves on then Hutton would be decent enough though.
  3. I`d like to see Hibs win it at long last. Mind you if it goes badly for them I can see Griffiths doing a "Barton".
  4. I'm not saying for a moment we should offer him a deal but I wouldn't be astonished to find McLaughlin still with us next season. Brighton should retire and I'd imagine Simmons will find his rightful place in the SPL.
  5. Unfair in my view to criticise Clark's attitude. It remains to be seen if he does a job for us at SFL2. Presumably our new manager sees something in him that makes it worth giving him a new deal.
  6. Correct to a degree. Even in the Harkness years we had seasons with good crowds when the team was doing well. The team built by Willie McLean and taken on by Mike Jackson in the mid 70s was in the Harkness years was it not and crowds in my memory at least were decent. Crowds plummeted in the later Harkness years when as you say he was poorly regarded. He tended to be held in poorer regard when the team was shit though. I`d accept that the local PR of the club is important to a degree but results are the main factor IMHO.
  7. Crowds will reflect whether the team is winning or not, not who is in charge. Fans want to see winning football.
  8. I just think our OS should at least make the effort to get things right from a factual point of view. The post last night is sloppy in the extreme. I`m pretty much resigned to us going down but key details of the stuff posted are just plain wrong. They are even more negative than the situation actually is, difficult I know but they`ve managed it.
  9. What a load of rubbish on our official site tonight. Apparently if Ayr win one more match then we are destined for division 2.. Now while that may prove to be the case it isn't factually correct as things stand. If Ayr take 3 points and we take 6 (pretty unlikely I know) we in all probability would finish 9th. The same article also claims that Raith's victory last week secures their first division status. Again not true as things stand. Really poor.
  10. Good point. He was excellent today and looks a threat at EPL level. Would have been a great signing for West Ham.
  11. We have been awful pretty much all season. For me Gus made another of a series of crucial errors in bringing in Potter on loan. This isn't a dig at the player but about management priority. If we had the cash to bring in 2 players then a forward was essential hence Parkin was a good move but we desperately needed a midfielder who could dictate the game at this level.
  12. I see the opening statement on the revamped official site is "business as usual" It sounds like it certainly was on the pitch today that's for sure.
  13. Absolutely. I think it was Padraig Harrington who said any club golfer who doesn't get hybrids instead of long irons is putting themselves at an unnecessary disadvantage.
  14. Great shooting. My best rounds in bounce games are 72 round Dumfries and County many years ago and 72 round Ballater a couple of years ago. Best in a competition a 75 (4 over) round Scotscraig.
  15. Really good standard to be playing at that level. Murcar is windy even on a calm day in my experience. Good course though.
  16. The R and A website has a specific section on equipment and conforming to the rules. Link
  17. Played lots of top courses but never asked for a handicap certificate. I do know of one or two folk who have been asked to produce one but think this is pretty unusual.
  18. No question about it. Short game is key. As long as you avoid real disaster with the long game you can score well with a decent short game. A great deal of it is mental and a good strategy is key. The old adage of a poor putt being as good as a decent chip from off the green is very often true. You see many players trying to hit high approaches from near the green when a putt or a low pitch and run is easier and much less likely to produce disaster. As others have said modern equipment is very forgiving. For most players the newer "hybrid" clubs are much easier to hit than the old 2, 3 or even 4 irons. Hitting the ball a long way off the tee is great but keeping it in play is key. Golf can be a most frustrating game but when you play well it`s fab.
  19. While we are unbeaten in 5 league games I think resurgent might be overstating it TBH. We`ve taken 7 points from those games winning one of them.
  20. Even if he hadn't come on I still don't think he could have played. From memory we were fined when Jamie Adams played and scored in a cup tie against Cowdenbeath when he had been an unused sub for Killie in a previous round.
  21. No. He was on the bench for Pars V ICT in the replay in previous round. Hopefully someone at the club will realise this.
  22. Hard to say if it's possible. The players absent are a big miss though conversely their absence might actually increase the chances of us completing the game with 11men
  23. Please forward the above post to: The manager, QOSFC, Palmerston Park, Dumfries. Difficult to disagree with what you say. We were an absolute shambles until we changed to a back 4 on saturday. It really says something when we looked better with a back 4 and 10 men than we did with a back 3 and 11 men.
