  1. Shame for Robertson as up until that point, that was the best I've seen him play this season.
  2. Was just about to post the same. I'm glad it wasn't given, but it seems that refs taking the easy option in those situations also extends to those on VAR.
  3. Finding themselves ahead after poor performances has been their M.O. this season.
  4. It's hard for me to articulate this without sounding Brexity, but I don't like teams signing foreign players for their academies as I think it sort of defeats the purpose of a youth system. Same with counting folk who have been in your academy for about a year as academy players. I think there are a lot of good things about how globalised football's become, but I also think that makes it even more important that you have young, relatively local players coming through on a somewhat regular basis, especially when you're like Celtic or Rangers and don't really represent anything about the country your club's based in. Even a quarter of the way through a good season with Accies, it's been annoying that that academy players are getting knocked further and further down the pecking order in favour of run-of-the-mill Scottish lower league footballers.
  5. I was surprised that he opted for Mumbongo ahead of McGlynn, but with us going a lot more direct at that point in the game, I wonder if he fancied Mumbongo to make more of those situations (which he didn't in the slightest). I hope we see McGlynn in from the start in one of the next two games as he's had a positive impact from the bench plenty of times, but it just seems like Rankin doesn't trust him yet, which is surprising for us because we haven't seen him from the start but it could make sense if we were seeing him every day in training.
  6. I wasn't sure if we had it in us to compete in an even game as we hadn't had one in the league before today, but I thought we were absolutely fine and nowhere near as bad as the marks on here are making out. Far too sloppy in the final third but Scott Martin's one-man midfield was fine and Kilday was excellent. It was just an all-round crap game which didn't tell us much about either side.
  7. Accies used a picture of Ryan One to promote a game after he'd already left the club so I wouldn't be too sure of this.
  8. Always funny seeing a fan applauding earnestly after a defeat right next to someone going of their nut.
  9. @MarkoRaj Don't worry, brother, I knew what you were referencing.
  10. I find that very hard to believe given their subsequent post on this thread and the reaction from them and other Falkirk fans to a calm explanation from another poster last year.
  11. Rory Wilson's apparently a good prospect but not played any senior football.
  12. I've only seen him in a couple of u21 appearances so can't comment too much, but Clarke seems to be a fan so if he keeps scoring then it wouldn't be a surprise to see him in the first team squad soon enough.
  13. I remember thinking his videos at the start of the pandemic were straightforward and useful updates during a messy time. Hadn't really given him any thought since then - is it just a case of him getting a taste of fame/power and seeing this as an opportunity to prolong it?
  14. I was actually wondering today about the last time we didn't start at least one of them. Think it was Slovakia (A) in 2020 when McBurnie led the line.
  15. Nah definitely not. There's no place for bigotry in football or indeed life.
  16. So, as expected, it isn't a case of ignorance? You genuinely don't care that you posted a racial slur? Yes my post was removed but I completely stand by it. @AndrewFFC posting "Shut it tink" was embarrassing and I'm glad his post was removed, although it is strange that his was deemed out of line but yours was absolutely fine. I don't know which mod was responsible for that but I'm happy to take it up with them as per your advice.
  17. The height of Gauldmania was around March-June 2021 when he was getting a lot of plaudits for his Farense performances, however Clarke went with Turnbull for the Euros. I don't think selecting Turnbull ever worked out, so you could argue that Gauld deserved his place, but there was also a lot of clamour for Turnbull at that time due to his form for Celtic.
  18. Jacob Brown's gonna end up at the Euros, having been in the squad for 2-and-a-half years, and we'll still have no idea if he's actually any good.
  19. Pretty much as expected with returns for Cooper, Taylor and Brown; Anderson, Tierney and Shankland dropping out.
  20. Absolutely - I learned its origin from a post on here. Where this argument falls down, however, is that the racist nature of the word was already pointed out to Falkirk fans last year: The guy who initially used it yesterday, @NavyBlueArmy1876, didn't like it being called out back then either so he was clearly aware that it's racist. It's also worth pointing out that hapless moderator @Andy Dufresne banned the person above who called it out and liked a subsequent post containing the slur.
  21. While this is obviously true - a player can't contribute if they don't get a chance - Clarke is a clever guy and I usually trust him to know if a player will fit into his team based on what he's seen of them at club level. He'll make mistakes, and maybe overlooking Gauld has been one, but imo he's earned the right to be given the benefit of the doubt.
