  1. Very big for his age but quick too. He is good technically but doesn't always show it yet. He mostly played as a winger for us, but Sheffield United supposedly want to develop him into a different position (presumably striker) which will take a lot of work but I can see why they might want to develop him in that way.
  2. If he's good enough to come on away to Arsenal then he's good enough to play for Scotland
  3. Really poor half from us. Sloppy all over the park and very easy to break against.
  4. 17-year-old Ryan Oné makes his Premier League debut for Sheffield United. Almost certainly getting relegated but not bad for someone whose last league appearance came against Montrose.
  5. Maybe we shouldn't let "the p***ks" use VAR until they're absolutely certain they won't mess it up - ideally sometime after Earth gets swallowed by the sun.
  6. Tait and O'Hara are definitely the underperformers at the moment. I think dropping Henderson back into Tait's role could work to an extent, but he's also our best striker so I'm not sure I'd want to move him. Same with Barjonas who, imo, is perfect on the left as he gives us a level of control that is hard to get from a wide man at this level. If he's playing on that side, then you need a proper goal threat on the right, which is why I liked the idea of O'Hara or Winter out there but they haven't provided that enough. We've got a lot of wide options, but none of them look like goalscorers. I've not been a fan of Murray but maybe he does deserve a shot from the start.
  7. Not working for me either. Maybe a higher booking fee will solve it.
  8. It was a strange game that didn't make an awful lot of sense. It might have just been an example of inexperience from both sides as Molde completed crumbled at 1-1 then didn't know what to do with ourselves at 4-1. McGinn was our star man and his crossing was much, much better than it was last season. That was a big weakness in his game and was really holding him back as a full-back, so it would be great if he's improving in that respect. He and Kalala were always big dangers 1 v 1. I'd say that of the players who haven't already made their first team debuts, Kalala's the closest to doing so. Dangerous 1 v 1, a real grafter and has the potential to be effective in the final third. It's just a shame that none of these guys look like getting any opportunities any time soon as we've shunned young academy players in favour of no-mark squad fillers, which has been my only real complaint so far this season.
  9. The Texas Chainsaw (or Chain Saw) Massacre franchise Last year I went through all 13 films in the Halloween series so I thought that this October it would be "fun" to give the same treatment to the Texas Chain Saw Massacre franchise. I initially planned to give each of nine films individual reviews, but it became clear after the fourth one that that wasn't gonna happen as too many were merging into one in my head. Here goes. 1. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre I don't need to say too much about the original as I've reviewed a couple of times on here before, but every time I watch it, it gets closer and closer to becoming a perfect film in my eyes. By establishing this disgusting yet authentic atmosphere, it makes it all the more horrific when it descends into a complete nightmare. Obviously the audience knows that it's gonna go to shit - it's called The Texas Chain Saw Massacre ffs - but it still packs a gigantic punch when you realise what's bubbling underneath the surface, and the mystery behind it makes it all the freakier imo. 2. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 I reordered the Halloween run-through so that I wasn't finishing on the best film - but this time I made the mistake of starting with the only good one, although I had heard mixed things about 2 so was quite interested in that - but despite a strong opening half, it makes the cardinal sin of setting the rest of the film in an underground lair which ultimately resembles a 2000s video game adaptation of the original with grander set-pieces, more "cinematic" sets and characters who look like they couldn't afford to license the likenesses of the original family. I will give this bonus points for containing a really excellent jumpscare, though, which was preceded by the tensest scene in the film. 3 & 4. Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III & Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation This is where things started getting confusing as I thought parts of 3 happened in 4 and vice versa. I don't really remember much about these two other than they seemed to be more a continuation of the silliness of the second one, which was exemplified by 4's beginning and ending. It begins on prom night but only stays there for about five minutes before somewhat inexplicably moving to rural Texas via a crazed car journey from prom. Nothing much else happened until the final act which descended into more craziness, but the kind of craziness that was clearly a case of the creators going "this is gonna be fucking crazy" which made it less enjoyable. The ending really is mental and teases some Leatherface-related illuminati conspiracy similar to whichever of the Halloweens did likewise (5 or 6, or maybe both). It was a stupid idea for Halloween, and it was an even stupider idea for a TCM film. Thankfully they abandoned that and jumped to the edgy mid-2000s remake and its prequel. 5 & 6. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre & The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning I say thankfully only because of what they left behind rather than what they moved to. I think I would've liked these two a tiny bit more if they were their own thing rather than a remake/reimagining, as these were as if someone looked at the original and thought "I know what this needs: more gore, more plot and a less authentic atmosphere," which resulted in another couple of try-hard, edgelord entries. Its decision to go down the prequel route was strange, too, given that Leatherface had about two seconds before turning into the Leatherface we all kinda know. If anything, it was more a prequel to the fake cop who, tbf, was more interesting in a film like this than Leatherface was. We've got a proper Leatherface prequel coming and it is not a fun watch, so I suppose I preferred the initial scenes of some screwball abusing the powers of being a backwater cop. 7. Texas Chainsaw Texas Chainsaw (3D) brought the franchise into the 2010s with a film that felt like the glossy Scream or Final Destination sequels around that time, and if there's one thing you don't want your TCM film to be, it's glossy. There's a grander plot which involves a carnival, a police station, familial beef, more conspiracies etc., which is another unnecessary addition in a long line of ways in which filmmakers have unnecessarily tried to pad out the concept of the original. It got to the point where I couldn't really believe that I was watching a TCM film. 8. Leatherface This might actually be the most legitimately weird one out of the lot, mostly because I got the impression that they actually thought they were making something with merit. It's the origin of Leatherface in which a handful of patients in a psychiatric hospital break out during a riot and cause shenanigans upon their escape. It actually goes through long (boring) sections that are more interested in the characters than the gore, and its twist genuinely surprised me. Neither of these were enough to make up for how dull it was, but I'm at least happy that there were a couple of distinguishing traits in one of these films. 9. Texas Chainsaw Massacre I reviewed this one last year and really hated it, but in comparison to the rest of this trash, it was actually a wee bit more enjoyable. The bus scene is at the very least the second-best scene in all of the sequels, prequels and remakes, and this film really is just a few decent set-pieces loosely connected by a hapless script.
  10. I don't think we've been lucky at all. Only two results haven't been fair reflections on the matches: Stirling Albion away (drew but could've won) and Alloa at home (won but could've drawn), so they're balanced out anyway.
  11. We're also badly missing a threat from set-pieces. A couple of short free-kicks have paid dividends this season, but I think we've only scored in total one headed goal so far (Tait v Montrose) and the deliveries from Tait and Murray have been pretty awful. When you're as poor from open play as we were in the second half yesterday, you'd hope to pose some sort of a threat from the number of corners we had.
  12. Yeah I can see how that would make it more palatable. I prefer the smaller Spider-Man stories, so fancied playing through the main narrative and then treating the side stuff like disconnected/standalone sort of day-in-the-life Spider-Man situations. It was a good idea in theory but the side missions just didn't have enough to them to make that work. The main story was really strong, though, so it was good doing that without getting distracted. As fun as it is swinging through the world, the characters were what I enjoyed most about the first two games and their continuations are what I'm most interested in about this one (but not until the price drops).
  13. I'm quite glad I replayed the first one earlier in the year as it became a bit of a grind doing the same pish side missions over and over again, which sounds like it's an issue with this one too. Having that time between the two could help me enjoy the new one more.
  14. Fs, the smaller squads honestly put me off doing international saves.
  15. Robertson likely out until 2024: https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/andy-robertson-injury-shoulder-liverpool-b2433167.html Here's hoping he's back for the March games.
  16. I find it a bit strange that Naismith only got 51 caps considering how long he was a Scotland player for. There are some players who in my head were mainstays for years but only got about 20-30 caps.
  17. Start the Scotland one now and let me know if they've finally increased the maximum squad sizes from 23. Thanks.
  18. I'd have King of Comedy as my favourite, but I'm on 13/25 so I'm not saying that with much confidence, especially as it's been a few since I watched most of those 13.
  19. Still a long way to go, and he's not the player he was 2-3 years ago, but I'd be surprised if Armstrong misses out. He features in pretty much every game, and certainly in every international window. He might also be our most natural winger at the moment.
  20. Gunn, Gordon, Kelly Hickey, Patterson, Porteous, Hendry, Hanley, McKenna, Tierney, Robertson McTominay, Gilmour, McGregor, McLean, Ferguson McGinn, Armstrong, Dykes, Adams, Christie, Brown Take your pick for the 23rd spot: Cooper, Souttar, Taylor, Jack, Nisbet, Shankland, Doak or Other
  21. That's quite annoying as I can't remember the last time we named an initial squad with just 23 players. A couple will be unlucky to miss out and some might sneak in based on their versatility. I wonder if Clarke will try and go with 23 in the next two camps or keep with larger squads to still give some players a chance to impress in training.
  22. Never seen us play a non-UEFA side so I'm all for that
