............and the press release isnt complete without yet another bout of "Budgeism"
“The 30th August will be a truly momentous occasion. It is the day we deliver on what we set out to achieve; the day Hearts becomes the largest fan-owned football club in the UK. So many said it could never be done. Well, together we have done it. Thank you all. Now, let’s go on to achieve even more.”
Who Ann?
Exactly who said "it could never be done"?
Answer? Pretty much naebody.
Well done Hearts fans, if nothing else you will at least be rid of that auld daftie and her silly statements.
We get to do them on rotation now...I'm pencilled in for next ....March!

You've got to think that Hearts must have the highest proportion of players who directly retire/disappear out of football altogether of any top league team in football. It's genuinely impressive

Ben Woodburn has agreed to sign on loan from Liverpool until January. He hasn't set the heather alight in his previous loan spells but he was quite impressive in pre-season by all accounts and was on the bench for them at the weekend.
Very much on board with this but also dreading him signing for Rangers in January of he ends up being good.
It is better to have loved and lost than to watch 9 at the back again

Fair fucking play to any Hearts fan managing to complete this Herculean task
Plenty folk to choose from I suppose

Obviously they only started rigging the draw in the last ten years!
Actually, it'd probably be more plausible for the rigging, if any, to have taken place in the mid 20th century rather than nowadays.
On that - I had a look at the numbers on Scottish Cup semis involving both Rangers and Celtic from the first time Celtic entered through to 1992/93 (when they were drawn together, to many raised eyebrows)
Basically the figures prior to WW2 were 8 times kept apart to 4 drawn together. Basically exactly what you'd expect probability wise.
Post WW2 - Between 1950 and 1993 they were drawn together twice, bookending a quite spectacularly fortunate run of 14 consecutive times they were kept apart.
It's fairly likely that there was some chicanery, especially 60s and 70s as the game became more reliant on those 2 to fill Hampden

I'm no really on the 'Celtic were magnificent' train after that - it was so ridiculously defensive from us in the first half it played into their strengths without testing their obvious weaknesses. Yes they had some good movement but even the goals were two horrorshows at the back rather than anything brilliant.
They were still better than us after ht, but it was a far more even contest and they looked decidedlu uncomfortable under even gentle pressure. Early days for Starfelt, but he looks, to me anyway, absolutely shite.
We got ourselves in this position by not doing the job against Inverness - always likely to lose today.

Did anybody get injured?
Bruised egos and some badly dented pride. Other than that, think not

I know you remember your own team's stuff better, but Michael Stewart getting sent off for arguing with his own fans at Tannadice has to be up there.
Who was the Hibs player that got banned for hitting a linesman back in the 80s? I'm excusing Miko for Andy Davis cause most folk in the stadium admired his restraint

Can't remember of it was Neilsen or Pressley but Hearts on the attack deep in the United half after clearing from a corner and whoever it was sucker punches a United player back in the Hearts box seen by the linesman. Straight red card and penalty to United converted.
Might have been same game Michael Stewart sent off for a heads gone at his own support but there is a few of them to choose from.
ETA it was Zaliukas http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_prem/7165323.stm
It was Zaliukas. Worse,he didn't even make contact - he just took a swing and missed.
All time, Graeme Hogg and Levein at Starks was certainly the stupidest, if not the daftest, I've ever witnessed.

If only we’d had the foresight to send Jamie Mole on loan to Dumbarton instead of Livingston who knows what heights he might have reached
Harry Kane's gain I suppose

Thought of highly enough at Tynecastle, that he was given a new two year contract earlier this year.
Apparently, he played in the pre-season friendly against Arbroath season before last, which I was at, but I can't remember a thing about him, tbh.
So potentially 2/5ths as good as Jamie Mole. Could be some player

Got a few reactions there, good
Of course it was up to us to get a point, the only unanswered question is how the f**k the whole team succumbed to a mystery virus or food poisoning or whatever the f**k it was the night before the game
Is that the Hearts supporting referee who did not want to look biased in our favour?
Allegedly told to not give us a penalty?
I've no idea if he was told not to, seems extremely unlikely, but he certainly made a terrible decision at nil nil

This never gets old.
St Mirren could have fielded an 80yo granny in goal in that game (might have been an improvement tbf) and it wouldn't have mattered a toss if we'd done our job.
The effort levels and happiness of St Mirren players at Love Street have become the stuff of urban myth, but the blame for us not getting the job done lies with us. And that idiot Crombie obviously.
Can't really bring myself to try and have a rivalry with St Mirren

On what I've read about how his Cardiff teams often played. Fun 4-4-2 article on how he used an asymmetric 4-4-3 with Craig Bellamy on the right wing but no one on the left, and he did pull out a variety of formations with 3 or 4 at the back.
You're probably right that we'll stick with a 3 against Hibs purely because of the squad but might not be the case going forward. Or it might be, I'm guessing.
A cheat as well as a racist eh?

I have to say, if they stay fit surely Halkett and Soutar one of the better centre half pairings in the league this year ?
If every team plays to Halkett's strengths like today he'll be great. His mobility is less of a worry in a 3 but he still gets caught on the turn far too often against quick strikers

Overall i thought we deserved it. Has the better of the chances and defended very well. Poor in possession second half though

How Haring hasn’t picked up a second yellow for that I’ll never know.
How it was given as a free kick is beyond me, but as it was he was probably lucky not to get booked

Pretty happy with that, especially the start. Haring's daft booking is a worry cause he was coasting the game.

The result bothers me less than the approach tomorrow. If we're going to go anything this season we need to go into away games aiming to win them.
It's a tough game but there's no reason we can't win it.
