  1. Either they are taking the piss, or you are misunderstanding them. Here's a copy of the The Constitution, Rules and Standing Orders of the Scottish National Party http://worldofstuart.excellentcontent.com/uploads/SNPConstitution2020.pdf On page 122, it states 14.3 All selections of parliamentary candidates will be carried out on the basis of one-member-one-vote using the principles of single transferable voting. Nothing there about not voting meaning that you vote for the status quo.
  2. ⁸I see that Jody at Just One More Watch has launched his own brand. I've asked for one for Xmas, even though ot won't be available until next year. I've gone for the white model (8 colours available)
  3. So, as a non-member, how do you you know the election system give votes "to the status quo". That's not the system in use in my constituency, and doesn't seem very democratic. As far as I'm aware, the only time this system was used in Scotland was the rigged 1979 referendum, where the dead were held to have voted "No"
  4. Yeah, the '79 group were formed very recently... ... in 1979, or only 44 years ago.
  5. Seeing as I'm now trapped on the wrong side of the A83 landslides, is there any prospect of finding a live stream (paid or otherwise) of the game?
  6. Should I have made it more obvious that "Socialist" should have been said as sarcastically as possible?
  7. No evidence! Only if you ignore every opinion piece in the MSM and direct quotes from the Tories themselves. But yeah, let's go on believing that every vote for Labour is cast by a newly-born convert so the Socialist cause.
  8. Unfortunately, I was watching the reserves getting hammered 0-5 by Rangers Reserves on the Saturday However, Scotsport was on Sunday afternoons at the time. The STV colour TV cameras were at Ayr races on the Saturday, so they filmed the game at Ibrox. When transmitted, the sound was a good few seconds ahead of the film, so John Fletcher was only collecting the ball at halfway when the commentator (Arthur Montford?) was announcing that he had scored!
  9. Apparently, it's going to be a free vote with no whip. A cynic would suggest that this will allow MP's to maximise their "consultancy fees" from Big Tobacco in the run-up to the vote. An obvious side-effect of this policy will be that Challenge 25 requirements will also have to increase every year, resulting in bigger percentages of the population having to carry ID to buy tobacco. The right wing of the Tories will not agree with this "assault on their freeeeeedoms" Much as I agree with the proposal, I can't see it getting through Westminster whilst the Tories have a majority .
  10. I was given a sledgehammer. All morning I killed Yoons.
  11. Dhidn't IhpsosMhori shhow ah rhecent Yhes mhajority?
  12. I'm just taking a lead from another poster who stated that everyone that voted Labour should be considered a Unionist. I specifically asked "Is it fair to consider a vote for Labour in a Westminster or Holyrood election to be a vote to continue the union, given polling evidence shows that up to 30% of Labour voters would vote "Yes" in Indyref 2?" @orfc replied ""Basically no, if independence was their main concern they'd vote SNP Why didn't you step in at that point?
  13. My recollection was that you were a Labour supporter. Labour are Yoons, and enthusiastically support Trident (Jackie Baillie, anyone?) Apologies if my recollection was incorrect.
  14. Yet, as a Yoon, you support having American-manufactured nuclear missiles in Argyll?
  15. Channel 4 just showed someone outside Hampden with one. Idiot.
  16. Ars*holes who get themselves banned from Pie & Bovril, then slither back on under a new alias (or even multiple aliases) should be named & shamed Examples include @DiscoStu / @Samuel Corrigan / @CarrbridgeSaintee and whatever incarnation @Stormzy is using this week @RuMoore
  17. WTF? I was taking the piss out of the United fan's attempt to conflate a friendly commemorating a world record with their moving a league game for such an inconsequential reason. Surely that was obvious? We weren't even in the same leagus as United in 1985!
  18. I didn't realise that league points were awarded for this friendly fixture.
  19. ^^^ Has never drunk in the Grey Gull ^^^ When there were 4 pubs in Chalmers St, the Grey Gull was a distant 4th choice. Anyway, apologies for not picking up on your point.
  20. That's only £500 each for all expenses incurred for 20 players travelling. Do big full-time clubs like ICT really pay their superstars so little?
  21. Stormy (the multi-banned troll) is either unable to carry out simple arithmetical calculations, or is trolling again. Yawn.
  22. A few pictures of Skye settling in with her new big brother Eddie. Even though she's half his size, it's starting to be clear who is boss...
  23. In RAAC concrete news today: https://www.theguardian.com/education/2023/aug/31/english-schools-told-to-close-buildings-made-with-crumble-risk-concrete More than 100 schools are facing the immediate closure of buildings constructed from potentially dangerous aerated concrete panels, plunging the beginning of term into chaos for thousands of pupils. The government has found that 156 schools in England have reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) materials but only 52 have put mitigations in place against risks including collapse, it admitted on Thursday. Engineers have warned the material is at risk of cracking and spalling and of “shear failure”. I'll look forward to the condemnatory tweet from the Scottish Conservatives.
