  1. Remember that you can't park overnight at Ingliston - the airport needs its parking revenue
  2. If you listen to any BBC commentary from Gayfield, you would think that the away team had never played a match outdoors in a slight breeze, Home advantage is all generated by a gentle zephyr blowing down the pitch from the Harbour End. This explains Arbroath's unbeaten home record over the last few seasons.
  3. Just to be pedantic, if the next election is 28/01/2025, all the SNP MP's will be "wiped out" on 17/12/2024, when all the current MP's technically get their jotters until the election. Starmer, however, will not be PM until King Chuckles the 1/3rd invites him to form a government. That will be on 29/01/2025 at the earliest, due to the fact that people have to vote & the votes have to be counted. Your clock is counting down to f*ck all - what a waste of everyone's time. HTH
  4. There's no "Daily Record Bias" thread, so I'll just put this here... https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/lifestyle/money/calls-scrap-scottish-tax-bands-32546821 This article is from yesterday's Daily Record. Effectively, it's publicising a petition to remove tax varying powers from Holyrood. It describes the petition as "new", even though the poll has been online since 8th January, and has only attracted 4700 signatures in that time (including today's boost thanks to the Record's publicity - it's gone up by over 100 since I began typing this post) The sub-headline states "All workers in Scotland earning over £28,000 a year pay more tax than elsewhere in the UK." Firstly, that's not true. The breakeven point is ~£28,850. Secondly, 51% of Scottish taxpayers actually earn less than this, so they will continue to pay slightly less Income Tax in 2024-25 than if they lived elsewhere in the UK. (source) Anyone wanting to switch to the rUK system is LITERALLY demanding a tax cut for the highest earners and the bill to be footed by people earning less than £28,850. The Record really is a scummy and devious piece of shit.
  5. Didn't Wet Wet Wet sponsor Clydebank? Oh, right...
  6. You've not shown the whole picture in all its gloriousness. From the top: Vintage jet planes, some dating from 1979! A man looking into an unidentified object! Rishi, our unelected, impotent PM! Chuckles the 1/3rd, who is probably pissed off that the Tories are using him in a political advert! An Aston Martin - not a british owned company since Leyland days - currently Canadian owned! (Slightly worryingly, a company called Yew Tree Overseas Investments are involved. I'm sure it's a coincidence) A football team that only represents one region of the UK, and have won f*ck all for 57 years. Excluding WC/Euros when they had home advantage, they've made a grand total of 4 semifinal appearances since the tournaments started! An unidentified big boat. The UK currently has the world's 10th largest merchant fleet! Where exactly does this "second most powerful country" claim come from? Surely some of our resident Yoons can explain?
  7. The Team GB website would appear to disagree with your view https://www.teamgb.com/competitions/st-louis-1904/3dHUQMzc0aOUJ4TFYkpm5l
  8. Is the Sun aware of the 1904 games in St Louis, where the "British" team competed in green shirts with a shamrock on the front? Our "British" gold medal winner Tom Kiely, refused all funding from the British Olympic Association, paid his own way, and insisted he was representing Ireland. However, as Team GB likes to boast that they are the only nation to have won at least one gold at every summer games, they insist on classifying him as "British" Sad f*cks.
  9. I hope that they made a comedy sci-fi programme about this hilarious happening.
  10. Given Murdo Fraser's views on recording unsubstantiated criminal accusations against himself, can he assure us that he doesn't record any enquiries from his constituents that relate to civil law matters or to criminal complaints that are either unsubstantiated or that do not lead to prosecution? How does he keep track of these matters if he doesn't record them?
  11. The good news for dogs is that the Fireworks and Pyrotechnic Articles (Scotland) Act 2022 will get rid of all-year fireworks licences, and will make it harder for the general public to obtain fireworks The bad news is that the part of the Act restricting sales to specific periods isn't fully in force yet, and won't come into force until compensation arrangements are in place for the affected sellers. None of the politicians involved have the guts to ban firework sales to the general public.
  12. With regard to the side that Simon says wasn't used at all, I'm sure that I read somewhere that there was room for one row of spectators between the pitch & the wall. It might have been in a report about the Rangers 'beaten on a back green' protest? I'm not old enough to remember the old stand on the sea side, but remember that the ends & sides had covered terracing on the High School sports day in June 1968. There are a lot of older fans than me that can maybe remember when they were built?
  13. Every post you make is usually full of abuse toward other Arbroath fans. It's easy to express your opinions without resorting to abuse. Your reply to me is a case in point: I note that no Arbroath fans have liked your post. I'm not surprised. EDITED TO ADD - It's "you're too thick", not "your to thick", by the way. HTH
  14. I'm still more shocked by the fact that Labour ignored the Bain Principle.
  15. I note that the committee voted 8-2 in favour, with only the Tories voting against. This means that the two Labour members must have voted for an SNP measure!
  16. When you leave, can you please take @Anotherlichtie, @Lichteeeeee and @glasgowlichtie23 with you? That would be great, thanks.
  17. More Rezillos tarcks Vince didn't play on. What a bunch of Bongo Brains.
  18. Good tries but Vince played bass during their period as the Revillos. As far as I'm aware, he never recorded any of the Rezillos tracks. Personally, I always preferred their Revillos period - The Rev Up album is easily their best work (even though Vince didn't play on that either, as far as I'm aware!) RIP
  19. Some guy was on Sky News earlier saying that the England fans will only wave St Georges flags and won't wave this new interpretation. Harking back to 1966, there are more German flags than St Georges crosses in this shot. Silly b*****ds, waving the wriong flag...
  20. Not quite as good as Aberdeen, but Arbroath took the lead after 20 seconds against Celtic on 16th December 1972. Arbroath had a second chalked off for a hotly disputed marginal offside before Celtic equalised in 71 minutes and scored the winner in 86. Celtic were allowed to get away with a ridiculous number of fouls as they hacked their way to victory. Once Tam Cargill had to go off injured, the writing was on the wall.
  21. I assume that the posters above also complained vociferously when Westminster introduced similar legislation for England back in 2022? Implementation of some of the measures (like 3 for 2's or BOGOF's) has been delayed until 2025(?), but the ban on junk food at entrances and tills has been in force for a good while now.. Were the SNP & Greens at fault for this too? https://www.specialityfoodmagazine.com/business/hfss-explained-what-the-regulations-mean-and-when-they-come-into-effect#:~:text=What is the HFSS regulation, with 50 employees or more.
  22. Yeah, that's the same caseback opener I have in my cheap amazon watch repair kit. It's not great quality, but does the job.
  23. Christmas watch arrived yesterday. Absolutely delighted.
  24. Won't it cost you more than £80 to fly in from abroad to attend court?
