  1. The Girl With All The Gifts - 6/10 Meh. Interesting concept that evolved zombie children may harbour the cure for the infection. However, the premise is let down by an unlikely scenario - why would they be educating the children at all, particularly if their prejudices are so ingrained that they see the children as nothing more than "abortions"? Why not just dissect the lot of them if that's inevitably how the cure would be found? Anyway, still enjoyable for the odd scene.
  2. Kubo and the two strings - 8/10 This is one of the best animated films I have ever seen. It is very dark, quite atmospheric and macabre, but very well executed. A young boy must locate a magical suit of armour in order to battle a menacing villain from another plain who murdered his father. The supernatural aspects of the film are mesmerising and perfect for the style of animation. I've only watched this once and may be inclined to raise my rating to a 9 - it's that good.
  3. I feel robbed. After last week's I was really looking forward to that episode. Personally, I think that's the worst episode of Sherlock's history. The only part I enjoyed was a certain character arriving via helicopter but the rest was a contrived mess of ideas. The premise could have been good but I feel that the execution was poor.
  4. Unfortunately not. It's got a metal case and a bezel-less screen which is all locked up pretty tight. It's a gorgeous looking phone but unless I'm using it outside, it can quickly turn into a gorgeous looking brick.
  5. Update on my Ulefone Future. The phone gets very hot, very quickly running certain features like internet. The screen colour then bleeds and it becomes unusable for 10 minutes or so until it cools down. I'll power through for another few months but will need to replace sooner than anticipated. It's a real shame because the phone is lovely.
  6. Very true, however there appears to be evidence that this time it might actually be the case. Who knows. Anyway, I just wish people would stop using the term starlet to describe young footballers - it's weird.
  7. As far as loans go, the 3 boys from Newcastle are, apparently, very highly thought of and are all on the fringes of the first team. They might end up being alright but we desperately need at least one defensive mid, a striker, and a centre half in this window. No pressure Lee.
  8. I really liked that. Junky Sherlock is excellent.
  9. I presume we are out of spoiler territory now? Anyway - Spoiler alert. How would Sherlock have found out about the busts if not for the incident with the boy in the car? It's such a coincidence thereafter that it's all related to A.G.R.A. It was very well acted but the plot was just lazy.
  10. I wasn't a fan of Burn at all. Boyle, despite the occasional mistake, for me had it in him to be a very good addition. We'll see how they both get on I suppose.
  11. Sorry to see Boyle go. I thought he had the makings of an excellent centre half. The other 2 I'm not bothered about.
  12. You're right. Once you've seen that Bear sexually assault Leo, you just can't shake the image. In all seriousness, I thought Hardy was terrific in this. Leo is just brilliant in everything but this film just gave him so much scope to use his range. The cinematography was also utterly mesmerising and as you say, it was very beautiful to look at but also quite visceral in it's portrayal of the bleakness of the environment. The film only loses some of it's power for me once you realise how far from the truth they actually strayed for 'artistic license'.
  13. I was in the Frank Beattie for the egg chasing. I had plenty of leg room and a wall in front of me to hold my beer. All very civilised compared to my crushed legs and Capri-sun Nazi experiences of the East on match day.
  14. I got the Ulefone Future a couple of months ago and I can highly recommend it. It was £175 delivered from HK via geekbuying, (no customs sorry Njord , they put a fake receipt in the outer package stating it was a £12 charger.) The bezel-less display is lovely and the phone is generally faultless at pretty much anything. The battery isn't brilliant though and GPS is a bit screwy.
  15. I watched it when I was still in Primary 7, it gave me proper nightmares for a couple of weeks. Bloomin' brilliant horror film.
  16. My go to scary film has always been The Fog. I love that film, it's an almost perfect horror helped by a typically brilliant Carpenter score. 9/10
  17. Grosse Pointe Blank 10/10 This is a personal favourite but I probably hadn't watched it for a couple of years. It's just brilliant and will never get old.
  18. I still don't trust them. There's a special spray you can get to irritate them.................it's called deodorant.
  19. A Walk in the Woods 7/10 Based on the Bill Bryson book about tackling the Appalachian trail, (like America's West Highland Way except massive and with added bears). It was actually a bit of a buddy movie, nicely paced but lacking any kind of character development or pay off. The actors were all decent and there were a couple of belly laughs at times. Nick Nolte looks dreadful now. Robert Redford is excellent - as usual.
  20. Yup. Really, really bad. It actually doesn't make any sense. It's a 2/10 from me - one of the worst films I've seen for a long time.
  21. He seems quite a selfish player but I reckon moving to Germany might be a masterstroke. They all have a strong team ethic there and the pressing game is in vogue. Reckon he could fill in the gaps in his game quite well and become very good indeed.
  22. Apparently it requires an op. He's off to London on Sat. Huge, huge blow.
