  1. He seems to be doing a good job at Saint Mirren but most of what they're bring in looks to be stuff that we (Flow perhaps) have already introduced - fair play to him, that's probably why he was taken on as St. Mirren follow us down the fan-owned route. Alan Burrows has done tremendously well for us and, from the initial days of following his reports from McGhee's training camp in Austria, it's been great having an out and out Well fan involved at the club and being so vocal and visible in his role. God luck to him whatever his next step may be - I'm amazed he's stayed so long as he has progressed right through the ranks and now hit the ceiling at the club. The stress and affect on family and social life must have been massive and he's due a well-earned break. For all the comments about it affecting the rest of our season, he's staying on just now and the budget has no doubt already been worked out - I can't see his departure changing the signing policy.
  2. We had a teacher at our school called Mr. Deacon. You can imagine his new nickname.
  3. We had that with Hibs and won - the argument that is. Obviously we lost the game.
  4. I don't really get these things but from my limited understanding - does this say he's shite?
  5. He's now a teacher at my kids' school and I met him at a recent parents' night (although I didn't know it was him at the time). He still seems to have a weekly YouTube broadcast. Anyway, how's about "Haw Mister, gonna lift me over the turnstile"?
  6. Well... For a highlights reel, there was only really one goal in there that made him stand out as being anything above what I could manage and I'm in my 50's. How does taking a pass and playing it to someone else get in his highlights?
  7. I'm trying to work out if you're just desperate for Capt Oats to post highlights from Skippy Sunday?
  8. I'm managing to keep my fear in check regarding Hetherington. That doesn't mean I'm confident we'll win but he was a long way from making it with us and has kicked about at a pretty low level since.
  9. Is it a knee problem he had previously? The club statement mentions an ankle injury as the problem.
  10. Interesting that Hammell is suggesting we're trying to secure Penney permanently with a loan extension being the second preference.
  11. Is it not just a couple of steel posts that have pinned hinge connections at the top to allow to them to be swung up out of the way when games are on? The roof will have been designed to take certain wind loads and the design will allow for a reduced probability of those happening during a game so that the roof can resist the lower wind loads without the additional support. There will probably be a similar judgement applied to potential snow loading and this will have been part of the original design so will remain the case unless they rebuild the stand.
  12. I went to a Thistle game earlier this season and thought he was the outstanding player on the park. One game admittedly but I was very impressed.
  13. Hopefully the first of a few additions to the team. I think I've asked this before but does anyone know what became of the Motherwell Supporters Trust? I was having a bit of a tidy up and came across some paperwork but it's from 2003/4 and the last tweets I can see were from 2012. I take it this was where WellTrustFC came from and it led to the Well Society but can't see any confirmation.
  14. You've got a few seasons of 'debatable ' penalties to make up for before you can talk about evening out over the season. In any case, that might have seemed harsh on the opening day but the rest of the season has shown that to be a standard handball decision these days (I know I'm setting us up for one of those really annoying handball penalties).
  15. Oh well, that'll explain why I couldn't get Tapatalk to work today. Like JackRae2, I'll probably use it less as I find the mobile browser clunky and ad-ridden (I'd paid to remove them from Tapatalk). As an example, I've just tried to quote JackRae2 aand my screen highlights his text in blue but doesn't let me type a response- any idea why that's happening?
  16. The goal I remember was a tap in at the far end of the park but you might well be right about him scoring twice.
  17. I'm sure I saw Hendry score in a 4-2 defeat at Easter Road. Not sure he did much else.
  18. Imagine if you let Archie McPherson influence how you voted.
  19. Yeah, Fergie (Ian Russell) died a good while ago. I grew up in Hamilton and the old Douglas Park was a great traditional ground to visit. Hamilton (like most places in the west of Scotland) suffers greatly from many locals supporting other teams (and I appreciate the irony of me speaking as a Motherwell supporter) but in those days, when football was more affordable, a group of us (Accies, Motherwell, Rangers and Celtic supporters alike) would go to games ( Cup games, midweek etc) just to enjoy going to the football. I don't think it's as easy or as affordable now, particularly with seating.
  20. The Spy Who Came In From The Cold with Richard Burton. Watched it tonight from Sky Cinema. I've seen the TV series but it was a long time and this film version was wonderful, just so clever.
  21. Just come through duty free in Stansted and it's very slim pickings for domestic travellers. They gave me a taste of Longmorn from Elgin which I hadn't heard of before. It was nice but not nice enough to spend £56 on for 70cl.
  22. That doesn't come close to the attempts made to get the game on at Inverurie! Postponed every few days.
