  1. BBC's documentary on the Hacienda tonight was fantastic from a music history point of view but skipped a lot of the financial problems.
  2. A lovely walk around the west wend of Glasgow with the good lady Mrs. McSquackle. Beautiful sunny afternoon afternoon after the morning's rain blew through. Stopped off at the deli at Celino's and picked up some delights for tomorrow night. Motherwell don't lose until tomorrow so fairly perfect afternoon.
  3. I didn't know about it until there was a comment in the Utd v Motherwell thread last week. I don't think it's as common knowledge as you seem to think.
  4. My wife was a bit perplexed at me getting more excited than a middle-aged man should be at the sight of big Sol in Tesco Maryhill this afternoon. It was either him or another very good-looking big beardy man - looked a bit out of place in Tesco.
  5. I've read (and enjoyed) the book but didn't realise this was based on the book. When I saw the trailer it reminded me of the book but I thought it looked dreadful and, as you say, OTT. Decent reviews on here though so I might give it a go.
  6. For anybody who didn't see it, the wee tribute to Michael Higdon as a cult hero at the very end of A View From The Terrace a few weeks ago is tremendous (the episode with the girl on the panel).
  7. My memory of Grange Hill isn't what it was - is that Gripper Stebson?
  8. I don't think skooshy cream would have saved it for me! Had a few mouthfuls and then down the sink it went - there's not many beers I've needed to do that with.
  9. I thought I'd try this from Fierce seeing as it's Halloween. Don't think I'll be rushing out to buy more.
  10. Assuming they have the footage they say they have, it surely can't be the clip you have referred to, so the appeal will only see the footage United want them to see (as well as the existing VAR footage). So do they trawl social media looking for other views? Do the good people of Pie and Bovril need to submit it as the case for the prosecution?
  11. Looks like I need to get myself back down to my local Asda. Back to my Aldi haul, Jaguar from Kelburn has a nice wee zing to it.
  12. I was surprised to see presenters on BBC breakfast wearing poppies this morning. It's October! It has its place as a means of remembering those who have lost their lives in conflict but also as a reminder that conflict should be avoided where at all possible. I believe that was the original intention and don't know how it's developed into this competitive nationalistic fervour.
  13. Shed looks fantastic. Standard design load for snow or maintenance is 600kg per square metre. Assuming 60cm spacing your 9x2 joists will be fine for standard snow loading. The only issue would be if there's a chance of snow drift building up. Is the roof within a metre of a taller fence or similar? I wouldn't worry about the walls if they're built from any reasonable size of stud (3 x 2 minimum). Critical design will be for wind on the wall and you've already said it was fine for some high winds.
  14. Aldi were also selling a few from Fyne Ales. I've been struggling to pick up their stuff recently unless I call into the brewery. A bottle of Vital Spark tonight. Magnificent!
  15. Wanderlust Wheat Beer from 6 degrees north. Lovely with a slight lemon taste to it.
  16. I'm constantly amazed at the number of arseholes who pull manoeuvres like this only to then turn off or to beat you to a set of traffic lights a minute down the road.
  17. Loch Lomond's Welcome to the Jungle Mango and Pineapple Pale. Alright, if slightly bland. Hints of the pineapple coming through.
  18. I'm sure I had that on holiday in the summer. No messing about at 8.5%! Anyway, I'm trying a few from a recent Aldi trip. Stewart's Orange Hop is a really nice Pale Ale although I'm not getting much orange from it.
  19. So sorry to hear about your loss and for those others close to Amanda - may she rest in peace.
  20. When I was working one summer at a DIY store we'd stand on the forks and drive it up and down the access road. Health and Safety would have had a field day even back then (early 90's).
