  1. They were both fucking awesome tonight as well. I've listened to the album all the way through a few times now and it still sounds just as good as it did on the first listen
  2. I could only get a ticket in seating and was a biy annoyed that all the standing tickets were sold out (or punted to GetMeIn, StubHub etc), but so far it ain't too bad. Still thankful I'm standing for the next two gigs, though.
  3. Off to Kasabian tonight as well. Haven't really listened to Slaves much, so I'm interested in seeing if they're any good. I've also got Shed Seven next week and Gogol Bordello a fortnight after that. Quite a promising few weeks, all in all.
  4. Just back from Ljubljana, their airport was a piece of piss to get through, no problems at Edinburgh or Stansted either on the way there, delayed flights aside.
  5. Ordered a ticket for Gogol Bordello in December earlier, and still very tempted to get one for Sasha at the Liquid Rooms tomorrow, if there are any left.
  6. It does sound a bit classier than when I was last in. Makes me miss The Vale even more. The Newtown Bar in Bo'ness is a fair shout, though there are a few more contenders there, especially the Crown Inn, the Turf Tavern and the Learig (if they're still open). The only decent boozer in Bo'ness is the Richmond Hotel, IMO. As far as Edinburgh is concerned, The Marksman is a bit of a dive, as is the Duke's Head a few doors down. Central Bar has a bit of a reputation, but I didn't have any trouble last time I was in there. One pub I will probably never venture into in Edinburgh is The Ferry Boat, as it looks pretty dodgy from the outside, and is apparently even worse on the inside. The less said of Port Glasgow's pubs, the better.
  7. Idlewild at the Hidden Door Festival were fucking class tonight.
  8. I'm now booked up for Idlewild at the Leith Theatre at the end of May. £19 for a ticket as well, not bad at all. Part of this festival: http://hiddendoorblog.org/
  9. I managed to get a Glasgow ticket for Shed Seven in Wednesday's pre-sale, and have a signed copy of their album pre-ordered. I've also managed to get a ticket for Ryan Adams at the Usher Hall in September. Apart from that I'm also looking forward to seeing the Stone Roses at Hampden in June.
  10. I'm going to try and get a ticket for the Glasgow gig in the Wednesday pre-sale. Also noticed tickets for Ryan Adams are on sale on Friday, will be the first time I've been to the Usher Hall since seeing the Manics there if I can get one.
  11. Thankfully I've only seen one meme posted up about Marine A so far (which I would assume is some Britain First-type clickbait due to the 'patriotic' name), and surprisingly few folk ranting about FIFA. Funnily enough, most of the "sport are troops" types on my friend list seem to be of a "send 'em back" mentality. How odd.

  13. Linlithgow Marches today, seems to be dwindling every year. It'll probably be another few hours before I bump into some local bams.
  14. I've just booked my ticket for this, I'll be fucking buzzing by the time it comes round.
  15. Celtic Park - Celtic/Scotland Ibrox - Scotland v Georgia Easter Road - A Hibs v Dundee game years ago, a couple of matches v Ross County and the Scotland v Qatar match in June Cappielow - Been to one or two matches v St Mirren here with my old man, as well as a fair few other matches in the last few years and once in the away end with a St Johnstone-supporting mate Love Street - St Mirren v Morton St Mirren Park - St Mirren v Ross County Firhill - Partick v Morton as well as one or two Junior Cup finals with Linlithgow Rose Hampden - Scotland v Lithuania (the Mikoliunas dive one), the recent match v Germany and a Ross County away game. McDiarmid Park - St Johnstone, as well as the Challenge Cup final won by County Rugby Park - Junior Cup final Palmerston - Queen of the South v Linlithgow Rose I've also been to The Falkirk Stadium, Almondvale, East End Park and the Caley Stadium, as well as Prestonfield (Linlithgow Rose) and Newtown Park (Rose away to Bo'ness). Also been to Ainslie Park once as well, just after the death of Arthur Montford. Outwith Scotland, I've only been to Elland Road.
  16. Just read on my FB news feed that Ryan Adams is releasing a cover version of Taylor Swift's "Style" and "Blank Space" http://www.stereogum.com/1824747/preview-ryan-adams-cover-of-taylor-swifts-style/mp3s/ Could be interesting.
  17. No doubt I'll be quite buckled by the end of it, but I'll be heading up to a mate's house for a barbecue, and while I said I'd start drinking at 10, if I'm up there earlier I'll probably have a can at about 9 or so, and my plan for pacing myself will go out the window. It'll probably be early afternoon before I head into town to take in the procession, and I'll probably eventually end up spending a few hours in the Swan, bumping into a load of folk my dad drank with while he was still a regular.
  18. It was the Leith Gala Day on Saturday, from what I was told about it, it's probably a good thing I decided to watch the Scotland game elsewhere. Next up is the Linlithgow Marches tomorrow, where I'll be catching up with a few mates and trying to avoid all the utter cu[test][/test]nts I can't stand, as well as wondering how anyone can get up to go to the pub at 5 in the morning. That said, I'll probably start at about 10 and make a feeble attempt at pacing myself.
  19. Just about to head into the Manics gig at the Usher Hall.
