  1. Did he not stay part time in order to complete an apprenticeship?
  2. Yeah it’ll likely be Airdrie fans gloating over you next season. #roaringback
  3. In all honesty Raith aren’t a great side but they’ve made it hard for us and had opportunities to win the league so credit to them for that. This was mainly down to them being pretty solid at the back and relying on individuals to get a goal or two. This worked until their defence turned to shit (strangely coincided with Benedictus coming back) and Vaughan wasn’t producing. If you compare the two squads we have a much stronger squad and I’m struggling to think of any Raith players that would start a game for us. Vaughan is highly rated but I’ve not seen him have one good game this season and he’ll be well out his depth if he goes to the Premiership in the summer. All in all no one can argue we don’t deserve to win the league and if Raith don’t go up then Barry Smith will have a lot to answer for. As much as McCall might not be popular with some sections of our support he’s done a pretty good job this season and you couldn’t criticise him for much. Smith on the other hand has made an arse of it.
  4. I think most Ayr fans understand that both teams are quite close and had things been done differently for either team then the league might have panned out differently. As you said had Smith kept Vaughan up top with either Spence or Buchanan then he might’ve had the same effect as Shankland. Likewise if we had a decent goalie from day one we’d most likely have won by now. No sensible Ayr fan is letting the league go to their head imo but we don’t have to be having serious discussions and pandering to opposing fans. We’re allowed to laugh at Raith when they lose and they’re more than welcome to laugh when we lose.
  5. Tbh if we win the league I can see Arbroath going up through the playoffs. They’re the best team I’ve seen this season (bar us) and they’ve got an experienced manager who will know how to get them through games against Dumbarton and yourselves. Really wouldn’t have thought two years when you played Hibs in the playoffs that you’d be battling it out down here. Gary Locke has started this journey off and I’ve no idea where it ends.
  6. Yeah I remembered watching the updates of the Raith vs Rangers game on Sky Sports where Rangers could’ve won the title but blew it and the guy from Leicester scoring at least one goal. McKinnon would’ve been better off staying at Raith and trying to build on that season but it’s no surprise he went to Dundee Utd who he’d played for and was a big step up. Some owners seem to be more concerned with how their manager talks rather than how good a coach he is. Surprised they gave Yogi the job given how out spoken he is and the rant he gave to Raith TV last season. Barry Smith is a decent manager for getting a team organised (hence the good defensive record earlier on) but going forward it’s basically give the ball to Vaughan and hope for the best. Unfortunately you can’t do that when he’s crowded in midfield with no time to create chances. Craig Easton has a decent reputation, you might’ve been better off taking a punt on him this season.
  7. I never paid much attention to Raith that season with McKinnon but from what I heard you weren’t that great then managed to go on a run towards the end of the season which got you in the play offs. I really can’t understand why the Raith board thought it was a good idea to give Gary Locke the job. He should be nowhere near the running of a team. John Hughes at the start of the season would probably have been a good appointment as I think he’s a decent manager but he doesn’t take any nonsense. With guys like Bobby Barr in the dressing room and a relegation fight it was always going to end badly.
  8. Was there any truth in the rumours that Raith gave Smith the job instead of Stevie Aitken? Massive mistake if so.
  9. As is Vaughan. We’ve got a few players on 4 bookings but given we’ve got a few players missing because of injury we could do without silly bookings leading to suspension.
  10. I wasn’t even aware he had a job at Ayr until yesterday.
  11. I’ve absolutely no idea how it’s started but Craig Dargo, who’s now an under 20s coach with us, was on Twitter complaining at how many times Killie were calling Ayr asking about Forrest and then Shankland. The tweet has now been deleted. I think Ayr fans responded to him in a frenzied panic and then a few folk on Twitter responding to a Killie journo we’re suggesting Shankland as a target. A lot of panic about nothing really.
  12. Nice one, should be enough to keep you lot up which hopefully means we’ll meet each other again next season.
  13. If it’s the same McKinlay that played for us I’d advise you to avoid at all costs
  14. Yeah but with the exception of our attack we’ve been pretty weak so far this season what with injuries. What I’m saying is had Smith recruited better in pre season you could be doing much better than you currently are. But from the outside he seemed to pin his hopes on Buchanan and Spence scoring a barrel load of goals each which they haven’t done. Wouldn’t worry about it though as both teams have shown they can’t run away with the league so I’d expect top spot to change hands at least twice before the end of the season.
  15. A budget only does so much. If you had a semi competent manager in charge you might not have spunked most of your money on two strikers that have done very little and gave a new contract to an absolute cluster f**k of a goalie.
  16. Been good for us this season but I don’t think he’s good enough at the moment to be playing for a team with top 4 aspirations. Perhaps after a year in the Championship with Ayr he’d be ready for it but he’s not even performing consistently for us right now in League 1.
  17. And McCall had him at Falkirk and took him to Dundee Utd. Wouldn’t rule it out.
  18. He got a red card against us earlier on this season but it got rescinded so apparently that counts as a yellow.
  19. The red card was rescinded after Stranraer appealed. Does Davidson not have a red card as well?
  20. Bell only has 5 yellow cards so why would he be suspended?
