Overall strokes gained of 7.25 whilst losing 1.40 on the greens is absolutely insane!
There was a stat at the start of this year that Rahm would’ve had a handicap index of +13 based on picking his 8 best rounds from 20 at the time
If you’re going to turn up with a mullet and ‘USA’ shaved into the side of your head, you need to play like Tiger circa 2000. Probably fair to say that Sam Burns is definitely not doing that.
A couple of surprising combinations there (on both sides) but at least Johnson has had the decency to put the personality vacuum of Cantlay & Schauffele out last to avoid holding the other groups up.
Hatton and Rahm has the potential to be box office. Could be a few broken clubs in that one.
They’ve mixed it up this year so we’re starting with the foursomes on Fri instead of the usual four ball so I doubt very much we’ll see him until Fri afternoon at the very earliest.
Not sure what the rest of you guys think but i reckon he’ll get a four ball slot on the Friday then we maybe wont seem him again until the singles. Hope i’m wrong though as I think with a steady partner he could be a very useful asset.
In terms of the Friday morning I’m going to guess at the following for the European pairings:
McIlroy & Hovland
Fitzpatrick & Rose
Fleetwood & Hatton
Rahm & Lowry
Confirmation that Man Utd have been the most Barclays team over the last 10 years.

Turns out that you can put a price on happiness (and much laughter) and it’s a mere £1.67 billion. Fair play lads
In terms of big hitters, McIlroy and Rahm will be the biggest from the PGA tour and i’d imagine that Hojgaard would be up there as well.
Fitzpatrick, Hatton and Fleetwood will be the best putters.
Not sure my matchplay record this year would cut the mustard. So far this year it reads:
Played = 3
Won = 0
Lost = 3
Ties forfeited due to hangover = 1
I feel sorry for Meronk but Aberg is a class above already and will be a top 10 player in the world by the time the next Ryder Cup comes around. Lowry should count himself very lucky though. One top ten this season is gubbins. His putting and scrambling stats for the year are also rubbish and is definitely in on reputation.
Overall it’s a strong looking team for Europe and i’m a bit more confident now than I would’ve been a few months ago.
