  1. Yes not helped that our two best ball playing centre half are injured. Think they are trying to play the modern way out from the back, but you have to have the players to do it . Another tough one next week up in Perth, plus a banana skin cup tie midweek.
  2. Fair assessment of the game, but not the Blackburn goal although it was sloppy. Pass to defender was fine but he miscontolled it and his pass back to the keeper was a hospital ball. The GK’s clearance was blocked onto the bar. It falls to a Blackburn player 8 yards out who fires home off the keeper who is a bit unlucky not to keep it out. Pity for the defender, who I thought was outstanding today.
  3. Derby day today - always a tough fixture for Broxburn. Added spice (not that it’s needed) of a Scottish Cup tie on the horizon. Should be a cracker!
  4. Yes was end to end stuff and good to watch. Think both will be up near the top end once they gel as both have a lot of new faces.
  5. Two games in and four points is not a bad return, considering the injury situation. Unconvincing at VOL and a shade fortunate to pick up a point last night in a very entertaining game. In saying that when we went 2-1 up there only looked like one winner. Fair play to Musselburgh for coming back strongly in the last 20 minutes or so. Still don’t think we know what the best 11 is or what formation suits us best. Always going to be a bit of a hit and miss start with the number of new players being brought in, but hopefully we will gel as the season goes on. Mon the Brox
  6. Musselburgh probably deserved to win it last night. Controlled the first and last 25 minutes of the game with Broxburn the better team the 20 minutes before and after halftime.
  7. Despite the score unconvincing from Broxburn. Should have been 2-0 down after 20 minutes. Second half much better. VOL were decent and if they can add 3 more players they have a decent chance of staying up
  8. The real action kicks off tomorrow and just can’t see past Linlithgow and Penicuik for the top two spots. My choice for winner is Lithgae (not a huge surprise). Jeanfield will be the best of the rest. Going down will be a tougher call. Vale of Leithen and Oakley would be my call, but after that which 1/2 will join them is anyones guess. My choices will be LTHV and Swifts. Think Blackburn, Haddington and Tynecastle will just have enough about them to survive. Will be a really tough league this year and very important to get off to a good start.
  9. I hope so. Still think they are lacking a bit of something. May just be a lot of new faces but definitely need a couple of our first choice CB’s back. I do think we will be better but still not near challenging Lithgae or Penicuik for that matter.
  10. Going to be a tough gig for the relegated teams. 4 went down and only 2 come up. Add in Leith and Preston plus a couple of others and it ain’t going to be easy. Just pleased Broxburn stayed clear of it as there was a time they could have been dragged in.
  11. Broxburn 0 Rob Roy 4 pretty even first half but Broxburn not at the races in the second half. Pre season friendly but could be another long season
  12. Broxburn 4-0 Edinburgh South. scoreline flattered a bit especially in first half where South had three good chances to score. They were a pretty decent side and gave a good account of themselves. Good luck to South this season.
  13. Wasn’t at the game on Saturday so can’t comment on it. Think the comment above is harsh on the lad as he has been one of the most consistent performers over the last 4/5 years. Didn’t have the best season last year as was plagued by injury but now just returning to fitness so good to see he has re-signed. All the best to Bo’ness for the upcoming season
  14. Second pre season game at Tranent tonight. Home side well worth the 3-1 victory but a decent performance by Broxburn .
  15. First friendly of the season today against Dundee North End. Decent work out and game. Broxburn probably deserved the 2-1 victory but not much in it.
  16. Noted a couple of decent re-signings whilst I was away.
  17. Don’t think Broxburn are going to enter one this year. There is a community club attached to them but think they are going to continue with 17’s and 19’s in the Edinburgh leagues.
  18. Whilst we all remember the good cup run of a few years ago, I’d settle for a decent league challenge. Having lost Tranent to a higher league I think Lithgae will be the team to beat (Think Penicuik have lost a number of their better players so again no idea how they will go). Lots of new faces at Broxburn as I believe there is a few more in the pipeline but will need to hit the ground running.
  19. Another decent signing. Gave us a torrid time when he played with Musselburgh
  20. Players leaving this season:- Michael Beagley - Dunfermline Athletic Joe Tait - Spartans Andy Mair - Bonnyrigg Jackson Barker - Musselburgh Craig Turnbull - HWU Greg Nicol Greg Redmond Tom Cowley Couple of decent youngsters in there who I would like to have see stay. Maybe a couple of others who I have missed. Confirmed recruits so far are:- Jack Sayers - Blackburn Errol Douglas - LTHV Darren Downie - Musselburgh Mark McConnel - CSS Liam Gray - Gala Fairydean
  21. Big season ahead for the Management at Broxburn. Sixth last year flattered somewhat but were miles away from the top 4. A big rebuild underway and definitely needed .
