  1. Queens Park are in a different world financially at the moment, is it possible to keep it going mid to long term, NO, but with 1.3 million quid prize money as the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow , Teams will overspend and hope to get lucky look at Thistles apparent financial crisis and ICT money losses saved by the Scottish cup run.... We are where we are, and we are delighted to be there, let's stay there...
  2. Ammo, That's not what I am saying and you know it, a bit of a fishing trip methinks..... I will be even blunter. The club should make at least 250k est minimum from increased gates and league prize money, not just our club all clubs so nothing confidential it's only simple addition. So if people are thinking it's down to lack of budget or PH not investing , 250k est isn't a bad starting point in trying to keep us up,after what we have had to endure on recent years, admittedly wages and costs increase quite rightly.. Let's be sensible Rhys has a competitive budget, bringing up Chris O Neil on 30 quid wages allegedly (club denied) on the dark days is a nonsense, that and being compared to our current situation is shameful.. As has been mentioned further down the thread, other clubs are signing young players, taking a chance etc is this down to lack of finance , possibly , lack of bodies, possibly.. We had no trialists at the NLC ego massaging cup or indeed our training camp in Ireland..... Our lack of recruitment is plainly down to the the Football dept, it is there duties to spend what they have and get the numbers required and quality within the increased budget to compete in the league above, and get them fit and introduced to the club, team shape etc a suitable amount of time before competitive games( used to be called preseason) We were lucky with injuries last season, Frizz and Rae long term, the rest were a couple of week here or there, and Cammy's many suspensions, Teams last season were operating with 5 or 6 first teamers out long term, injuries you cannot control , so increased squad depth is imperative, are we ok with playing russian roulette on that front, the additional players may not be of the standard of Frizz etc, but will be important members of the squad, so let's not be gullible ... Heard a rumour the Home Strips will be launched this week, can anybody confirm...
  3. This thread is going way off, let's look at the facts, we have gained promotion after an eternity in League 1, If we do not score a goal or win a game, we will be 100k better off with prize money, average crowds are going to increase to probably the 1500 AVG thanks to the bigger away supports, that and an increase of 2 quid a head admission fee means a lot more coming into the club... We wil be in a much better financial footing than the last decade, yes an increased budget is and will be required .. I am not of the opinion it is lack of required investment, Rhys stated at end of the playoff final, we needed better, stronger players to be competitive in the championship, he knows what's required, we are 3 days before the first game and we have signed one player that fits his remit. Todorov, The Hibs laddies were already signed prior to the playoff final, McMaster was already on situ having deal agreed since January, Dunlop who was around the club for pre match kickabouts, do not fit the mould of bigger, stonger players... This is plainly down to poor recruitment at this time, you can sugar coat it all you want.... The link with Consilium has done us well, but we are in a very narrow player availability window with this process.... Is this the issue.... This can change with a couple of decent signings which we need....
  4. I think we are all saying the same thing here, but to be fair we are going into the viaplay cup group stages starting on Saturday with the club management basically saying we are short of bodies, The Viaplay cup for many is a preseason kickabout ( not saying the club are treating it this way). Sandwiched in between summer holidays and getting back to the football after the summer break. A few clubs in League 1 and championship made decent money last season out of this tournament if they can get through to the knockout stages, looking at our group it looks difficult to progress, but you don't know how other teams fair also..... Cup prize money is extra money, and we have had slim pickings over the past few years... For me we should be going into every competitive game and tournament giving ourselves as much of a chance of progression as possible, I don't see this as being negative, just a general aspiration of a paying supporter.. Maybe I am being naive in my assessment of the situation,
  5. I will repost this, a week or so on, we all of the same belief everything is rosy on the garden like last week.. Fordyce being interviewed this week and regurgitating the same , unconvincing to say the least... Like has been stated previously, we have some very good players in that squad (other teams are the same). Recruited Todorov has decent pedigree , and O Connor who looks to have been signed to replace Smith, after that Aiken ( not seen him, highly rated etc etc)has replaced fellow Loanee Stanway... After that the lad Dunlop has been signed primarily for the under .s when their season starts I thought, you never know though... Do we agree like Fordyce that an additional 2 defenders is what we need to complete the squad, IMO bare minimum yes, although another keeper as back up would make sense... We can be naive and happy clap all we like, but this is shaping up to be a long hard season, where 8th position will be like us winning the mini survival league ...
  6. Why did you let Todorov go, looks like you are struggling a little to replace him, were Wighton and him too similar, or McPake not keen on him etc..
  7. Agree, when you watch back the accies games, the one thing that stood out for me, was situational game management, (the dark arts in other words). The lad Martin commited numerous fouls, off the ball confrontation multiple times and more often than not conned the ref, Connor Smith was the same, big Watson's red card perfect example, and basically going to ground to get the foul in both legs of the final, this is an important part of the modern game that we lack, The championship is full of teams with these type of players, it is not for the purist though. Players we require for this with more physicality and experience cost the money, I am not of the belief the budget is done, the club know what they want, although it's alright knowing what you want delivering it is the difficult part..
  8. Last I heard , the new home and away would be released end of July " all going well". We have released our third kit Though, a Purple number, not a great fan of Joma, think most teams who have had them feel the same..
  9. Airdrie defeated Dungannon Swifts 4 - 2 with a Gallagher hat trick and Todorov getting on the scoresheet again, bringing an end to their pre season training week in Northern Ireland...
  10. Was Kerr's injury troubles not all linked to a hernia that he tried to manage and play through during the COVID season, last season coming back from rehab and McCabes emergence as a quality defender dropped him to the bench , after that Murray seemed to use him sparingly, I could be way off with my assessment,
  11. Interesting few days East is a player that McCabe was apparently interested in, and possibly still is, and Kerr who on his day has a touch of class about him... although untested at Championship level, don't think he is that injury prone, it was just his hernia he was trying to manage got much worse, and playing through it for the team, during the COVID season..
  12. Kerr is a good player hard to disagree with other posts on the lad, a modern centre half who is comfortable passing out from the back, sometimes therein lies the problem with players, He got a bad hernia during the COVID season, and tried to manage it, which ended up getting worse and being longer out the game after rehab.. He has only played League 1 though and at Bo's on Ireland, you guys know the step up , is it that big..
  13. I think you are looking too far into this, I think you would agree we don't want a repeat of the end of August last season, when whatever happened ended up with 16 players for 4 months.... I have no idea on our increased budget this year(is it) but you to shop where your budget lets you.. Todorov won't have signed for schoolboy money, today it's hard to say impressed with the opposition, but he looks a very decent player for this level as we know playing against us... He reminded me of probably what we expected from Sal when he first signed, but well documented injuries and other issues curtailed his career... As I have said already there is not much wrong.. This league we are going into is unforgiving, bring it on, we are back where we belong and we want to stay there..
  14. Are you convinced on his transfer policy, and the management of previous. windows.. That's all is being said, everybody a little defensive, we cannot afford to be complacent.. All's good though riding 2 teams in the cup and away to a camp on Ireland. , There is not much wrong....
  15. Listening to the interview, and I am a massive fan of Rhys, but you are never too convinced on his transfer policy, all very vague.. This is his third window since being the manager and is recruitment any slicker.
  16. I suppose to be critical, we should have had more players on trial yesterday, although you flip it over and we are in a much better place than last season's NL Cup, Rhys mentioned in his interview that Fellows has been promoted to first team, big left back, will he be the starter moving forward.... The O Connor signing makes sense, dropping seamlessly into the Smith role.. his Raith move was on the cards since January, Rhys moved quick to replace him.. All in all, we are shaping up ok, but still desperately need , options in all areas, any signing rumours after yesterday,
  17. Just par for the course this season, all strips are honking, Airdrie have still to reveal this year's special, and it's made by JOMA as well..
  18. To be fair this seems to be a bad year all round for strips of various brands, Nothing really stands out all overthought out, overpriced pish, The worst of the lot being the Falkirk effort, truly horrific
  19. Nope still with them, they have a Football Nation shop at the stadium as well..
  20. Hi guys, Joma talk to me, we seem to be saddled with this top kit manufacturer, how do you find there strips and leisure wear etc, We are hearing of fans having to go 3 sizes higher to get a snug fitting top, is this the same for the top teams from Joma or only us diddy ones..
