  1. Stephen Hendri e left back, ex Tbistle and Hami!ton, do you guys rate him
  2. How do you feel with Celtic B using the stadium the last couple of seasons, with there income helping to fund us to get to the championship....
  3. I very much doubt we would be looking for part time players to join our low grade Hybrid (1 last season). At the start of the season Gallagher got know where near the team, with Rhys favouring Smith, Jamieson and McGill this changed from October onwards thankfully and he had the season of his life. It was c Lear when Rhys first started out Part timers were not on his radar.... The Hybrid was fare more prominent in previous, seasons especially the one cut short by covid, with Crighton, Big Nat, Millar , Eckersley and Roberts( sorry guys) that level of player has a low expectation level, even a although we were reasonably placed when covid arrived....
  4. Don't know if you guys will know, but when is GTF day, thanks in advance
  5. Hi guys, not normally a poster on Premier League sites for obvious reasons,,, quick question how bad was Ian Murray when he was your manager, was it 12 games or so he was in charge for(no research done)... I remember being the next big thing after a successful stint at Dumbarton, Everybody still talks about his St Mitten days surely they weren't that bad.. Airdrie picked him really a broken man after 2 years in Iceland, gradually you could tell he had something it took a while right enough, was consistently good a limited resource d Airdrie and steadied the ship at Raith after there self induced screw ups.. now linked heavily with a return to the Premier with Dundee.... did the media drive him out, support hound him or generally useless... hopefully play you guys again soon, miss the view from the Caledonia Stand was the best stand in football..
  6. Arbroath have signed Leighton McIntosh as the main striker, it just shows how few Goalscorer s are going around, Morton just released Ally Roy as well, we will no doubt hear how difficult the championship is, Rhys cannot play and manage etc, all this will be coming from teams that have signed McIntosh and Roy ffs , it will be difficult, we might be the shot in the arm the Championship need...
  7. Rumours that Roberts is on Allo as radar, Thankfully.. Existing squad i would imagine we will hear next week at the latest with contracts being up on 311 st....
  8. Did Fash have a brother that played with yourselves about 5 years ago, seem to remember an end of season Andy Ryan inspired Airdrie win that day,
  9. Led to believe it is only one PT player in Gallagher, The Hybrid training apparently puts some players off, most full time players want to train week day mornings with a wed off for example, AIrdrie train full time Monday morning , Tuesday night, Off Wed, Thursday night and Friday morning, and the 2 night sessions suit the Part tiners(1) and the Under 18 Academy lads who train also, it seems to work, under 18s have won the league and obviously we have just won the playoff....
  10. Quick sign him, he has a fan club at Airdrie who would sign every day of the week and twice on a sunday.. Airdrie had him a few seasons back, although he looks busy on the park it is never really in areas that make a difference, likes a shot or 10... Mostly wildly over the bar, better than league 2 though...
  11. It looks to me that O Connor was signed as a S mith replacement_ I think they are pretty similar in style, Smith to Dundee is the rumour I have heard, also on the Morton thread they are linked with local boy Adam Frizzell...although I expect Frizz to resign.. the one aspect of Rhys's tenure in charge that needs to improve is recruitment, i would love to know the reason why we want into the September window needing 2 players instead we lost 1 Sal to stranraer, that tail end of the window and Frizz getting injured really hindered us numbers wise and results wise..... the players I would expect to Move On would be Byrd, Dixon, Deveney, Smith, as well as the loanees obviously... we need a stronger squad this year, numbers and quality wise.... I fully expect this to happen, the club probably knew this was their last chance with this group to go up before the window closed and forced to start again... Still buzzin..
  12. Ffs at least we can beat Clyde consistently with both hands tied behind our back on the field..
  13. The old union Jack eh always riles supporters of all clubs, is this not what modern society is all about though, differring views and cultures ,but all supporting the same cause, I think we all forget as well the old club tradition of flying the union jack above the old pavilion early on a match day, to show the game was on, how many of us were sent doin the hill to see if the game was on, in a cold winter morning as a child. +(pre internet, sky etc)
  14. Tough one to take for Accies a real sea of heartbreak at the 90 and after pens, trust me I know how it feels... Where do you go from here, not at the wind up, is it a complete reset, I know the majority are out of contract, but you have some really good players. Minmaugh, L Smith , Tumilty the pick of the bunch, will the off field antics with that p***k McGowan who along with Zengin and that other no mark Tom Wotherspoon tried and failed to out us under as well.... Win that battle and you get your club back, it can be done... League 1 is a tough old league the longer you are in it.....
  15. Big question canATS go again in a couple of days, he is still apparently nursing a hammy, he played last midweek, was on the bench , but not stripped on saturday, but back again tonight, hope he makes it, a few players are looking a bit leggy, only to be expected , most other players are spending there second week on the beach... first time in our playoff history hat we go into the second leg of a final with an advantage, never happened before..
  16. Never mind the bollocks..... the time has come for the game both side s have been planning for some time, 2 pretty even sides, 2 top sides on shots on goal and shots on target according to SpfL stats.... I try to say it as I see it and will probably upset my fellow diamonds and Hopefully the Grangemouth faithful also.... falkir k will start Favourites and that's fair, is it a burden being favourites not really unless you find yourselves behind late in the second leg, when the crowds could turn against you... onto the teams and relevant formations, a lot of talk of McCabe will he won't he play, if ATS plays which I hope( Falkirk probably do as well) McCabe should start at CDM with the remit of going man for man with Henderson, nobody else in our midfield can go physical with him( potential game winner a Martin Hardie type).. If ATS isn't quite there hammy wise either taken off and the half or doesn't start McCabe will start at centre half where he is probably at his best, which would mean we would probably play % football, he must start, Rhys McCabe to me is the type of player who will go down "holding his shield"... falkir k are stronger across the midfield McGinn, Henderson, Kucha with Morrison and Kennedy out wide. They outplayed us recently at Grangemouth in the first 45 with Frizz, McMaster and Devenney not at the races, AIrdrie cannot afford another half like that or this game could be gone, out wide is another interesting scenario Morrison up against Ballantyne really good battle ahead, Ballantyne has kept Morrison quite recently on the other side Kennedy has gave Watson numerous problems recently, both good important battles.. Airdrie are much better when they play the game at their own tempo and dictate play which we can and well, all the talk in the last paragraph of the Falkirk threats rightly so. , to me the Falkirk defence can be got at and we have proved that this season, if Frizz and hopefully Telfer (groans I hear) can get going in the final third we will create chances Gallagher is our talisman, he won't out muscle Donaldson but will keep getting into the right places ?as his 22 goal haul shows, McGill i would think we will play on the back of McCann ( does he struggle over the top or a myth) a real threat and very unpredictable off the right hand side, technically he is a mess but he is probably our best finisher...... In my opinion Callum Smith is our big game player, he got marked out the game by Rowe last time out, I believe Rowe is out and he could be up against Yea ts or Williamson.... does home advantage make much of a difference, personally no, 2 big astro parks with Falkirk outnumbering Airdrie in both games( no crowd w**k yet, Time and a place). Hopefully a classic over the two legs, My prediction is boring 1 each at the Excelsior winner takes all on Saturday at Grangemouth.... canny wait...
  17. Good luck this evening spiders, hope you can pull it off, for a few reasons,, firstly Messrs Coyle and Stewart both Airdrie legends and general good guys, and reminiscing here when I was based in Weirs as a Yopper (YTS) I used to frequent an eerily quiet Hampden on occasion (88-89) and watch the likes of Monaghan(gk), Ogg, Elder, Caven, Hendry and not too forget the sloth....( Cannot remember the rest) and then get pished on 4 points of cider at JJ Booths and The Village before the long trek home.... Alright enough of that nostalgia nonsense.. If Queens do pull it off , the gnashing of teeth and seethe at the top table will be great to watch, what rule will they bring out, stadium, what stadium, if so not enough seats for the arsecheeks. D uddee, Killie, Ross County will b dusting off the old S PL rulebook to see if they can twist the rules to save their sorry skins.. as Adriene famously said to her man. " WIN"
  18. There are a few where everything is either sugar or sh#te, as long as they don't get mixed up with what to put on the morning cereal, I supposed all is good, did does get a little cringeworthy though..
  19. Let's not panic, let the B teams in and make it easier fo r the pyramid to work, right h o w about a bit of leag u e construction, increase the size of the Premier League and Championship to compensate....The clubs have the power here, too many are taking it up the Rangers end for a couple of shillings....
  20. Good post, many of our fan base especially on Facebook page are deluded in thinking we just need to turn up and attack, attack attack , get6 up and start ' swinging the dick', the more mature amongst us know we are in for a titanic battle over 180 maybe more minutes, as you say we hav e players, who need to play the games of their lives, personally I would prefer Falkirk in the semi, on paper a classic, with Falkirk quite rightly going off Favourite, can we beat them over 2 Legs, Yes, can they beat us over 2 Legs absolutely.... the main reason I want Falkirk is I am convinced the championship side whichever one will get to the final, these teams might have been getting rode all season, does it matter in the playoffs, NO, everybody starts, from scratch and looking at rearguard performances recently from Arbroath, Cove and Hamilton(final) they have proven under pressure hey can find something to dig it out, something us Falkirk and Aloa maybe lack ,Time will tell.. One thing that remains certain is we need out this league and if we fall once again , we need Falkirk out ( controversial) the league, in order for us to have a ,'Shot at Glory ' next season, where winning the league must be a priority.. Onwards and upwards
  21. The lads have been great won the Under 18s title at a canter, what happens to these lads next though, when they hit the age level, do Mptherwell St Mirre n , Livi etc Hoover up our best boys, in my opinion the lads at 17 \18 need to play next level up, preferably at Airdrie, but we don't have a level above, apart from First Team, which arguably the lads are know here near that level yet... So what happens next in the Academy, heard rumours about an under 16s team being created, that seems to a very crowded market team boys club wise. Does anybody have any opinions or further information about the Academy moving forward, if this flourishes we could unearth a few gems in time...
  22. How would you rate Stanway and McCabes performance in the same midfield
