  1. Leaves us very short up front. CJ, Rossco or Crusty. Maybe see more of Struthers in the coming weeks months. Hopefully SP can use Rennies transfer fee to lure in a striker.
  2. You can have Russell McLean back if you want - for nothing.
  3. Was very impressed with Stranraer when they visited Links Park earlier in the season. Very unlucky to lose to a late winner for us. Fortunes for both teams have swung. Montrose on a terriffic run of form just now and Stranraer struggling for points. We always seem to get a hard game down there so a win, if the game goes ahead, would be most welcome. A point wouldn't be disasterous. Hope the game goes ahead because it's a bad enough journey for players and fans at the weekend. Must be a struggle going there midweek for a re-arranged game.
  4. East Fifes blips are more regular than Christmas.
  5. Apart from the early sitter missed by EF we were pretty comfortable and just edged the first half and looked pretty comfortable until the second half substitutions. The last 10 minutes we were hanging on but had a few breakaways where the game should have been put to bed. The stats say that EF had lots of possession but their final ball was shocking and ended up in the arms of our keeper more often than not. The inept performance by the ref has been mentioned but he wasnt helped by the far side linesman who just didn't want to make a decision. Think we deserved the win but made hard work of it. A decent striker in the transfer window please SP. Credit to East Fife fans for a very good following and respecting the minutes applause.
  6. Russell McLean loan deal at Forfar has expired so he will be back at Montrose Unfortunately
  7. Better get a thread started on this one to show that we are interested. I see the Mo and East Fife battling it out for the last play off place and this game could be pivotal in the race. We've been on a great run over the past couple of months and still one of the form teams in the league. Our defence has been a bit sloppy in the last couple of games but we are scoring more now. Over the last 2 years, stats will say that East Fife will win by 2 goals but I'm sure the Mo will buck the trend here. I'm going for 2_1 to the Mo and leap frog EF into the play off slot.
  8. If we play anything like we did against Falkirk then I expect us to take all three points. Hopefully SP has worked on defending over the week because we were all over the place on Saturday. Last week was a free hit for us. This weekend is a much bigger game for us. Three points would be a great end to the year and keep Farfar at arms length. We've been unlucky at Station Park over the last couple of years. We are due a win there. My prediction - 2-1 to the Mo.
  9. Really poor defending for all 3 Falkirk goals from our point of view. Should never have been a free kick for first goal. There was absolutely nothing in it. A couple of really good saves from Mutch and 2 or 3 misses that could have been telling at the end. Gutted to have lost the game but play like that for the rest of the season and we'll be fine.
  10. To be fair, he annoys the tits off us as well.
  11. I was going to be nice about Falkirk and their following today but for a few wankers above, I wont bother. My take on the game. Falkirk are the best team I've seen in the "seaside" league this season. They looked well organised for the most part. The first Falkirk goal came from a set play from a free kick. If that is deemed a free kick then we might as well go watch wummins fitba. Piss poor defending when the free kick was hit in but feck me, the referee bought every dive your boys gave. For our part, I was right in line at the time and I didn't think the ball was over the line for our first goal and I thought our penalty was a very soft decision but given the way the referee was blowing for every slight body contact mainly for you guys, he probably had to give it. Absolutely gutted at the end of the game because we didn't deserve to lose it. We could well have snatched it at the end. Absolutely no disgrace today from the mighty Mo. Gutted not to get a point and if any Falkirk fan disagrees, you are talking utter pish.
  12. Mo point of view. You scored from a cross from a free kick. If that's a free kick, the game is dead. You had a half chance early on from a corner and should have done better Apart from that, Montrose taking the game to Falkirk but not really looking threatening. Ref is playing this right into your hands.
  13. Enjoy the trip up to Montrose. But no the trip home.
  14. IIRC we bought it from the local Highland Games committee in the 1920's and relocated it to Links Park. Think that is what Stevie Doyle says in his latest update of "The Story So Far", which charts the history of Montrose FC. Think that was the old main stand Ken. The old stand was at that side of the pitch until redevelopment in the 90s when it was switched to the present location. The terracing used to start at the curved bit and go right around the pitch to the edge of the 18 yard line at the opposite end although the corner wasn't covered.
  15. Cant see CJ playing. Hes got other things on his mind just now.
  16. Back to the fitba instead of boozers. With an amazing haul of 25 points out of 30 from our last 10 games there will be very little change in our line up. Will SP start with Martin Rennie after his excellent appearance off the bench on Saturday? Will Paul Watson start or will he stick with the same starting 11 as last week. Nice problems to have. Feeling nervously confident about this game.
  17. Gomis definitely out. He got sent off at the weekend. As did Telfer.
  18. For that number I suggest Sharkeys. It's about 5 minutes from the train station. Head up to the High Street then turn right. Cross the street then take the next left on to George Street. It's about 200 yards down the hill, you can't miss it. It's a decent place but strangely usually quite quiet at that time of day. Behave though. their next door neighbour is the Polis station.
  19. If you do venture into the Royal Arch, remember to wipe your feet on the way out. If arriving by train first boozer you'll stumble across will be The Picturehouse. A Bellhaven pub and ok for a bit of scran. Onto the main Street and across the road is the Market Arms. A good pub but will be mobbed. Walk down the High Street (avoiding the Royal Arch) to the Black Horse, home of the Black horse Tartan Army. Not very big but good banter and a decent pint. 2 or 3 minutes from there and towards the ground is the Golf Inn. A good bar and where many Mo fans meet pre-match. The British Legion is only seconds from the ground and everyone is welcome. However, there will be segregation and you'll have to walk around the houses to the opposite end of the ground. Enjoy Montrose but not the result.
