  1. 7/7 doesn’t work as it is open to last day manipulation as per the famous W Germany v Austria game - that’s why all games kick off at same time on last day
  2. There is no guaranteed income for the Premier - the whole system is based on shares already agreed for every position from 1-42. Thus whether team 13 is in Premier or Championship makes no difference to the percentage they receive and teams 1-12 receive exactly the same in either case
  3. Yes and didn’t dispute that - you then introduced the “entertainment’ factor
  4. They can’t have their cake and eat it - places 1-42 have a percentage allocated already no need for change. These clubs at 13 and 14 haven’t miraculously become better sides but they will get bigger gates in Premier plus a share of UEFA solidarity
  5. Fitness is an entirely different aspect - you won’t win much if your team isn’t fit enough unless there is a major gulf in class
  6. That is more or less every manager’s philosophy! To score less or the same as the other team won’t really fly as a workable philosophy! I can’t quite recall any cavaliering approach from Dick’s teams, it was more about having good players and motivating them - if I recall he was sacked by Ross County for his non entertaining approach. You are going on about entertaining but the vast majority of fans will accept winning over entertainment with no points value
  7. No Dick and Pink won games and that is ‘entertaining’ in the sense that is what the public want.
  8. Not realistic unless you can out budget your rivals. It’s a rebuild job not just in one fell bound you are free and en route to the title. Do you want entertainment or for your club to recover and winsome games - getting both is a bonus ?
  9. You can strive for what you like but you need to put in firm foundations rather than just invest in glitter and bunting when you try a turnaround
  10. If you want entertainment try the circus was an old fitba saying. 10th place with goals aplenty and thrills or a dour safe 7th position - I know in the real world what will please most fans
  11. I would suggest rather than entertainment that winning should be the initial goal - one step at a time
  12. Not sure why Berwick would be going down - is this another quirk of the Lowland League that ex-SPFL clubs should be aware of?!
  13. There has always been a natural progression get the pyramid fully established and get all the best teams more or less in the Lowland League (including West juniors) and then there is merit in looking at the automatic promotion option. 2 promotions in 5 years isn't really compelling evidence that there is a case for change. The current system is fair enough - not long ago there was no route into the SPFL
  14. No, I think you will find that the SPFL clubs agreed to allow non league clubs win promotion whilst gaining nothing in return. I had no problem with that but I expected that Tier 5 would quickly put its house in order to ensure a strong Lowland League - they did not mainly due to the junior feet dragging especially in the West. In addition I believed that Tier 5 should have been affiliated in some way to SPFL at the outset with both the HL/LL being allocated at least £100k each in prize money from the SPFL. But everything was rushed through. The extra money Spfl L2 clubs received was more than swallowed up by the wage inflation caused by the trapdoor. There was no whining either from Cowden when they played in the Pyramid play off nor did we call for reconstruction then
  15. That’s because they mainly chose not to join or try and join rather than have the ambition to play nationally and play a part in building the Scottish League into the force it has become.
  16. The Lowland League and Highland League together were billed as a National Competition to produce a play off club to challenge Club 42. Given the West have not been properly involved it has not yet met that criteria and I would say until the Lowland League comprises all the best clubs in the Lowland area it still has not achieved that status.
  17. So - it was an Ordinary Resolution thus 75% of premier, 75% of championship clubs and 75% of L1/2 combined had to vote in favour in 3 separate constituencies. Premier voted 10-2 in favour thus passed the 75% threshold
  18. It is nothing along those lines Restructuring the 42 same rules as per the recent Ordinary Resolution apply Restructuring including increasing the number of teams in the League = 3 stage voting process. 1) Premier must have 90% in favour (11 clubs out of 12); 2) Premier and Championship must vote 75% in favour (17 out of 22); 3. All clubs must vote 75% in favour (32 out of 42)
  19. Why they might be top or vying for a European place by the end and a similar situation prevails in the bottom half
  20. 7/7 split would never work as because a team has to sit out each week there is an opportunity on the last day for teams to 'fix' results if it suits as per W Germany v Austria many years ago. That's the reason that on last day all games are played at same time
  21. No it doesn’t - only if the reconstruction involves increasing the number of clubs
