  1. That's a tad harsh. I saw it more as a slight wobble than a melt-down. A minor leakage of piss, as opposed to a fully sodden nappy.
  2. I've been far from convinced of the merit of having a DoF type role at a club the size of St Mirren from day one, but we have to assume that Gus is doing something. Perhaps he sees his main role as ensuring that 85% of our squad are central midfielders.
  3. Aye, we could do worse. At least we know who he is! Pre-season is pish. Player after player who no-one has ever heard of linked with a move to the club, only for it to fall through, and for folk to wail and wring their hands over missing out on signing guys who might or might not have been shite anyway.
  4. Rumour has it the big fella who was over yesterday for a look around and a chat won't be joining up.
  5. Not too sure about that either. He struggled badly in the last away game against Livingston when they were shelling the ball up to Hardie who was playing off his shoulder. McKenzie would undoubtedly fare better with a designated holding midfielder in front of him. He is good at mopping up, but decidedly shaky at times in one-on-one situations, particularly with his back to goal.
  6. After much humming and hawing, I'm glad I never went along yesterday. I can't shake off that these games have the feel of preseason friendlies, despite the competitive tag. I went along to a couple last year, and couldn't muster any genuine interest. That's unfortunate given it is a national cup competition. This new format isn't for me. The squad is nowhere near where it needs to be, and Goodwin will require more time to shape the team and establish who offers most, where, and when. If anything, yesterday's game will have assisted in that respect, so the piss poor performance has perhaps served a useful purpose.
  7. In fairness, I don't think we are particularly needy as a support. No more than most, at any rate. When I find myself becoming a little impatient or frustrated about an apparent lack of activity on the transfer front, I try to remind myself of a few points: a) there is every chance that the players we are not signing are folk we have never heard of anyway, so we aren't really missing out, are we?; b) if we were to sign these guys we don't know anything about, we would only fret about whether they were really as good as the youtube collage of their career highlights, or just a bit shite as always seems more likely; c) while we aren't signing anyone, we don't need to worry about other clubs signing better players than us; d) and finally, if I require instant gratification, I would be as well stroking one off, as at least that is something I have a degree of control over (only a degree, mind....).
  8. My criticism is purely based on the fact that he did not need to disclose any of this in the media when the club is trying to move on and gain a bit of stability. I reckon that's a reasonable and proportionate criticism.
  9. You might believe that to be the case, as might I, but that isn't the issue here. The issue is why Scott felt the need to blab about it to the press. Most, if not all of us, have moved on, content that we now have the right man for the job in position. When I and others were looking for clarity from the club, we were in a state of limbo with press reports that Kearney was headed out the door and no indication as whether that was accurate, shit-stirring, or random conjecture. That was the time for some form of limited communication on the matter (any legal caveats permitting). Then we had the shambles of the Coleraine friendly being cancelled and the manner in which that was dealt with. To be honest, I currently have no interest whatsoever in hearing any further communication from the club concerning Kearney's departure. It is done and dusted, and time to move on. Scott has achieved f**k all other than reopening what was a securely closed can of worms.
  10. Oh, and Celtic only won the league because there were 11 clubs more shite than they were. When Kearney came in, all I asked for was that we didn't go down with a whimper. Show some resolve and commitment, and regain a modicum of pride in our club. I wasn't optimistic, but had to hope that something would click. Click it did - eventually. Poz has already set it out perfectly, so no need for me to expand on that. Suffice to say, I feel no ill will to Oran Kearney whatsoever. Gordon Scott's bout of slabbering information compulsion in the press was grossly unwise, and he needs to take a long hard look at himself. There was absolutely no need for it, regardless of the circumstances surrounding Kearney's departure. It achieves the square root of hee haw aside from miring the club once again in negative publicity. Distraction that we - and Jim Goodwin especially - could well do without.
  11. Trialists are trialists. Little more than guys invited for a kick around so the club can decide whether there might be the odd gem among their number. We've been doing it for years, and have only signed a handful of them. Its way too early to soil our smalls over a perceived lack of signings. Goodwin is just in the door, and if, as should certainly be the case, he has ultimate responsibility for building his squad, then it is inevitably going to take a bit of time to identify players and thrash out deals.
  12. Just so I am clear with this - are St Johnstone and Aberdeen supporters pouring over Craig Samson's playing statistics?
  13. Seems to be the way of for us. It would be great to have a bit of consistency, but we don't do that. It isn't our thing. We like chaos and disintegration. St Shambles
  14. Ah, sworn to secrecy I'm afraid. To be honest, I think it is unlikely (at best).
