  1. Drawing European teams does have the advantage we kind of know them and some like us, may find it harder to adapt to the climate so does give a bit of a chance over South/Central American or African options. On the other hand its the WORLD cup, not the EURO's/NL, so going there just to play teams we do regular is a bit boring and uninspiring IMO.
  2. Wales are a one man team. Removing him, the rest of the talent is no better than ours, infact on paper I'd suggest we have better options. Littered with Premiership players and some Championship. man by man, there's plenty for Scotland to be positive about - get the containment of Bale right and its closer than some on here think. Not sure why so many think Wales are something to fear
  3. Hickey being linked with a move to Newcastle for £15-20M
  4. TBH, if FIFA would use this it would get past the pain that is trying to watch these drawn out tournament draws
  5. Blame Brexit for that, be a generation of bairns growing up now with that thought too............
  6. Really want to avoid European teams like England/France/Belgium/Germany/Holland not from a better than us perspective but its boring seeing the same opposition appear every few years. So an ideal group for entertainment would be Brazil / Mexico /Japan Looking at one to have the best chance (on paper) to qualify from Qatar / Swiss / Iran or Canada
  7. Doesnt matted where it is the folks of Inverness have no interest and will always make excuses why its not better supported In town - no parking Current location - too far from town/cold etc Any location around the city - it'll be a long walk for someone and inaccessible for away fans as there is no infrastructure Not enough pubs on route etc etc Time everyone gets on the same page with its location being its home and the club do more to improve the experience as that's all that can be changed now, which IMO is probably no better (or might even be worse - rose tinted spec and all that) from when we were in Leagues 1 & 2.
  8. As usual, there will be quite a lot of free agents from Premiership downwards, which will make for some interesting signing opportunities but the way the league system is set up I's suggest teams in the Championship at either end don't benefit. Nobody will want to shoot their load early and sign if there is a chance they may be promoted or relegated as it'll dictate budgets etc, so there is only a handful of clubs who theoretically could plan early and get the best pickings.
  9. More embarrassing or even disturbing is the quotes from the England manager, choosing to exercise his right to condemn those fans who boo but then comparing it to the boo's in the 80's & 90's players like Barnes received. The idea that he thinks this is even the same level or scenario is shocking and I wonder what any of his players like Sterling or Rashford etc who actively campaign against racism think of this very poor comparison by Southgate.
  10. While not everyone may like the location of stadium Easy transport links directly onto the A9 20 min walk from town centre which has both train & bus hubs Plenty parking not just at the stadium (which TBH hardly anyone uses) but also in the surrounding areas as industrial estate use never coincidences with wknd or evening use There's probably nowhere else that offers the same infrastructure that either has available land or development potential which the club could afford to transform. Perhaps the bigger issue is the stadium (not the structure) but the club is not developing the experience - perhaps introducing a fanzone with some outdoor stalls selling drinks, beer and various foods (perhaps from local suppliers) with entertainment and screens pre-match might be an idea. Get something that fans want to arrive a bit earlier or stay around later. Football has to move forwards and understand its not just the on pitch product people want now (especially the fair weather fan) it needs to be a full, value for money experience worth repeating for more than just loyalty.
  11. Desperate attempts by the board to show they are in touch with the fans with this idea. Whoever came up with it will be thinking it'll stop criticisms about the gap between the two..............only to make a cnut out of it and open the chasm further
  12. TBF, looking at the form in the league other thank Kille, its the Pars who are next best being unbeaten in 3. Even the idea of back to back wins is rare for anyone, which either goes to show how competitive every team is or how utter shite and inconsistent they are......either way it keeps it unpredictable!!!!
  13. Need to stop persisting with McTominay in the back line. Yes, he plays for Man U but if he's not good enough to get into his best position in the middle of the park ahead of other options then the brave thing is to bench him. Too often we see mistakes from him in defence and teams will now be looking at that to exploit the RHS weakness.
  14. Psychologically for our players and also fan mentality being in the lower pot and having a perceived harder group will probably be better. Players showed in the Euros that by having a group where public pressure suggests games are win-able and we can progress they fall under expectations. Let us get some tough teams (plus England for the one good morale building performance) and build up a hard done by, siege mentality as underdogs - probably still not get out of the group but least we might feel we lost to some of the 'best'.
  15. 2 wins on the bounce is masking we're still crap, but the pars are at the bottom end for a reason too. Shitey match pending with both teams desperately needing a win for different reasons so can only be another draw to add to their stats and not help either really. Caley fans then to start raving about a 3 game unbeaten run and 7 points from 9 being the beginning of a strong run-in and BD is a master at turning piss into wine!!!
  16. You are well capable of understanding the point being made regarding movement of air in an enclosed space and that mask wearing for minimal duration makes little to no difference other than giving the illusion of being more safe. Yes, I have stated heavier particle droplets will fall, it does not mitigate that there will also be a movement created at the mercy of localised airflows or even hot air conduction from heaters raising other particles (without looking at windows, forced convection etc). Overall in an enclosed indoor space being seated or standing you are no safer than each other, therefore by not wearing a mask for the full duration its pointless and does nothing to minimise risks. Pedantry of the highest order just to try demonstrate the support of NS and her agendas, its admirable but misplaced IMO.
  17. Just another example of NS & the SNP wanting to clutch at straws by exerting control thinking doing the polar opposite to Westminster will result in a more measured successful outcome, leaving more than just the remaining hardcore fanboys grovelling at her feet and worshiping her great stewardship culminating in votes at the next election. All these decisions are 50/50 in terms of success, however so far its shown that mask wearing has little change in overall case increases or declines, as shown in England however if somehow the data changes even for a short period she can claim victory and promote and strengthen her case. This is egocentric at best and dictatorial at worst all centered around a singular goal of 'we did better than them, so support us moving forwards' and keeping her in the power seat of FM. Way past the point now of public support on this and into the territory of creating resentment, let individuals make their own choices. Simply if you want to wear a bit of cloth with no scientific control over fiber spacing and ability to intercept airborne particles please do so, otherwise let others do as they see fit. The hypocrisy or lunacy of having people stand at the door of a venue desperately rummaging for a mask to walk in, then be ushered to a seat only to sit and take it off for potentially hours in that location and only briefly refitting to visit the toilet is frankly mental. Its airborne - so whether standing or sitting its the same risk. While there is a case at lower level the heavier particles will descend rather than rise this does not mitigate that there will also be a movement created at the mercy of localised airflows or even hot air conduction from heaters raising other particles (without looking at windows, doors opening, forced convection, even people breathing etc). Overall in an enclosed indoor space being seated or standing you are no safer than each other, therefore by not wearing a mask for the full duration its pointless and does nothing to minimise risks. How so many still fail to see the ridiculous nature of this is baffling. One thing is clear though there are a band of jobsworth employees, power hungry owners or moralistic crusading members of the public who either love the sense of control issuing the mask wearing instructions or questioning every non-wearing individual with contempt that are simply going to fail to comprehend and adapt to a mask free society. Therefore the countless months of hardcore government propaganda has worked and created a group of followers devoid from thought and so submissive they will simply have a complete meltdown when all this ends (if NS ever lets it).
  18. Standard answer for any Scottish club, we got a bit of success then paid higher contracts to existing players and new ones thinking we could push on when realistically we were at our ceiling. Unrest created by not letting Yogi leave or discuss with DUtd, set of a chain of events with pay-offs and steady decline in quality throughout the club. Appointing Foran (player/manager) on a long term (4 year) high value managerial contract with little experience or the ability to match - keep him there too long, players dont play for him, results fall away and we get relegated (should have gone in the 3-0 pumping by Hamillton) Still got guys in the Championship on Premiership salaries, so have to cut of cloth elsewhere meaning an unbalanced team coupled with poor recruitment. Fail to get up first time round then slowly the income drops, footfall drops all resulting in lower quality product on the park with less quality players etc. Add in Covid etc we are no where we are. Its a very similar story we see often. There are mistakes (many of them) but we as a club should be in a better position then we are even given some of the past.
  19. Conte is a man who regrets taking the job and not holding out missing the Man U gig by days clearly this is a come get me/I'm available plea to Man U. Keep making excuses, noises about being unsettled but knows they wont pay compensation so needs to get the Spurs fans and board against him until he is punted!!!
  20. Regarding Gardiner, not sure whether there is an issue from a fans perspective, but there are a few potential concerns. Originally on arrival it was touted that improvements in communications from within the club and building a closer union with fans was an objective, overall though I'm not sure this has been achieved or there have been significant strides or efforts shown to address. The appointments around the club, it may well be these are the best people for the jobs and present value both financially and contribution, however from the outside appointments such as JR into DoF role and BD are not providing the success perhaps expected. This may be classed as a bedding in or transition period, however it may also be questioned as being nepotism keeping pals in jobs. Only time will tell based on whether this turns around and who might be future appointments (given we have Neil McCann for a short while too - all so far the Dundee, Hearts, Rangers connections to SG) On the financial side without having significant access or time to look into it all (unlike others), there had perhaps not been the levels of investment into the club that was hoped, however we have had a pandemic to deal with and everyone knows football is just a big charity with no chance of return - so its really donations not investments - and how many wealth benefactors are really out there? But overall the club does feel to be a bit better and more stable, debts managed and some investment all round. Maybe not the strides forward everyone wants but certainly improving and not a step backwards (on the face of it).
  21. Unfortunately we live in a world where too many people are naive and follow the media thinking its a reflection of real life. They see the EPL and read that manager x, y or z is sacked and gets paid up in full say 3 years at 100k p/w for only 6 months tenure and think its like that all over, they fail to realise these guys use super agents and are effectively head hunted without ever applying for jobs plus get these clauses (if they actually exist for not just them but the whole team they bring as its known the clubs themselves can afford it and they need that box office name so have to pay it to keep fans onside). In our case its much more common ground where we have a manager or applicants who NEED a job and a club who realistically can turn down candidates knowing that fans will be forgiving and also accepting whether its Neil McCann or Billy Dodds that comes in for example (its not like we are walking away from Conti to appoint Stephen Glass). Therefore we can have clauses regarding termination and if we dont then the board and legal team are failing all the fans. We know that football is a reactionary business so the notice period of 1 or 2 months like 'normal' jobs does not apply, however set lump sums based on pro-rota contract remaining duration should be expected.
  22. Well, since Joey Barton pitched up to cigar the diddy backwater of Scottish football anyways and we all know how that worked out...............
  23. I was angling towards 'the rangers' for the sheer levels of banter and capitulation but failings on the Hearts level would be equally acceptable if not something more of a long-game.
