  1. Aw, man, it"s any excuse to hit the Scottish Government, isn't it?
  2. Elmore Leonard - The Fire Sessions. Jeez, where would we be in the Blues scene without guys like him.
  3. Divorce - here we go again. Bribery to relocate is a new one though.
  4. Robert Palmer sang that he was Addicted to Love, so must be two different things.
  5. I didn't expect anything from the SG today that hadn't already been common knowledge about phased schooling. I do get the anger and frustration that's being vented, though. I hope it's just knee jerk reactions that's causing some to talk about not voting at all or not voting SNP. What's been said that would fill anybody with confidence that any other Party would magically get rid of Covid? There are still full hospital wards, NHS is still under immense pressure but the vaccination roll out is incredible. It'll take time for the data to be compiled, fed through to government, then decisions taken. I'll remain hopeful that what is being said by the SG will be the best way forward.
  6. Bloody hell, at this rate there's not going to be a Party left not to vote for.
  7. What's the current Rrrr Number in the pirate community?
  8. Douglas, when you look at at yourself in the mirror in the morning is there anything looking back at you?
  9. Monbiot is a great writer, especially his environmental stuff. He's written about Scotland leaving the UK before in, I think, The Guardian, but getting that out on TV was choice. Be nice if that sets a trend. And seeing yer man Bowie flapping made it even better.
  10. The perfect description of a particular brand of Tory*. * Most of them.
  11. Strong rumour going round that Calimero will be the new mascot
  12. The way that three words are used to create a brand really annoys me. The British Gas "Here to Solve" is annoying enough and it doesn't make any sense. But now it seems to have moved up from three to four words. There's an advert running for Be Vego and they're using "Be You For You". Whit?
  13. Surely not? Police were called to a Scots high school yesterday after reports of children being attacked with a liquid containing 'manure, milk and eggs'. A person, understood to have been dressed as Spiderman, threw the liquid 'stink-bomb' at pupils during lunchtime at Brechin High School, Angus.
  14. Not on Facebook, but Mrs SL is - cue, in the last hour, "oh no, the field at the side of Karen's house is flooded". Me - "who?" Her - " you know, thingwy's partner." Neither wonder the whisky bottle level is showing a low level alarm.
  15. More likely disgruntled muggles than muggers, perhaps?
  16. Well, he was one of the elite athletes in the over-90s track and Zimmer garden lap event.
  17. Trio by William Boyd. A tremendous piece of writing. Set in the 60s and tells interconnecting stories around a film being shot in Brighton. Boyd's building of characters is excellent and the different characters stories really draw you in to the 'big picture'. Loved it, but have to admit to being a huge fan of all his writing.
  18. But those setting the narrative... The British prime minister has vowed to push through Brexit — even without a deal. Boris Johnson has backed an October 31 deadline to leave the EU, calling it the beginning of a "new golden age for the United Kingdom." Writing in July 2016 after the UK’s vote to leave the EU, David Davis, the Conservative government’s first secretary of state for Brexit, foretold a golden age of global trade deals.
  19. I get that you're not a fan and she might well get a govt. post out of this, but would a university post not be judged by the likes of peer reviewed articles, books written, conferences, committee chairs and the like? Media performances might be cv padding but maybe less important for a uni post? Dunno, just wondering.
