  1. Working Class Man is an excellent song, but I didn't realise until very recently he had been turned into meme with this song. The meme bit starts at 2:15
  2. Felt like sticking for bands just from more recent times (mostly) Frightened Rabbit Without a doubt the best Scottish band of the 21st century, obviously Scott Hutchison is sadly no longer with us, but the lyrics in so many of his songs mean so much. Incredible band, still kicking myself that I knocked back the chance to see them live a few years back. We Were Promised Jetpacks Only started really listening to them a couple of years ago and quickly became one of my favourite bands. So many amazing tracks, saw them live not too long ago as a support act and they were top notch. Thunder and Lightening is an incredible track, as is Quite Little Voices but This Is My House is a personal favourite Idlewild The Remote Part is a brilliant album, and it really feels they inspired a lot of the artists (including FR and WWPJ). Still think it's class that they were on one of the very early FIFA games Young Fathers Get Up, Toy, I Heard all brilliant, brilliant tracks. Every time they come out with a new album, they somehow take it to the next level. Heavy Heavy is probably in the top three albums I've listened to in the past year. Biffy Clyro Only Revolutions was an great album. Kind of annoyed that Many of Horror got turned into the X Factor song for Matt Cardle. Still class band. Niteworks A bit left-field, but the Gaelic electronica/techno/folk (I really don't know what you would call it) is excellent, and the most recent album was top notch stuff and had a few songs in Scots and English. If you haven't listened to them I would highly recommend, great band.
  3. Isn't it voluntary as to whether the Polis enforce the rules or not? As in, they'll do it on a game-by-game basis, which for Police Scotland means they'll do it for every game.
  4. I believe it's to do with the Vehicle Registration of Buses which is done at the UK level, by the DVLA. The same laws already apply in England and Wales apparently, not sure how often the Police enforce them though.
  5. About bloody time. Used to stay in Aberdeen and the lack of public transport options were horrendous North of the city, the roads were incredibly busy, given the populations of all these commuter towns, it's absolute madness that there was no rail link north. Cities of Aberdeen's size should really have proper commuter rail, and possibly even light rail options.
  6. If it's a long haul flight I get the appeal of it but just put your earphones in and watch a film or something. Or just book your holidays when the schools are in and that solves the problem and is far cheaper.
  7. Was wondering this, Dumbarton used to have the best highlights in the lower leagues, now even on the SPFL round-up they look really poor compared to a number of others.
  8. Night of the Medium-sized knives? I know it's Visegrad so take it with a pinch of salt.
  9. Do we reckon he's actually dead? If so it's a disappointing end to Summer 2023's main character arc.
  10. For both legs you would reckon that TNT will almost certainly take the Hibs game. BBC Scotland will definitely take the Hearts and Aberdeen home games as they're in the main "prime time" spot, and BBC will be charge of production for it. Annoyingly for the first leg, the Aberdeen game kicks off at 6pm so there's a small clash, haven't seem the PAOK kick-off time for the second leg, but it sounds like it will clash with the other two games, if it's the 6:30pm slot that the Greeks like to go for.
  11. For "sacrificing" two home games per season for TV that went into the general prize pot, which Ayr's share was over £500k last season. Ayr hosted Dundee and QP on the TV in the league last season, the attendances for both those games were 432 down and 178 up on the corresponding fixtures. So even at a generous £25 a head it cost Ayr a total of £6,700, which they would have made up in uplift from having the electronic advertising hoardings. It was well worth it for Ayr
  12. Fantasy Football Scotland is the main go-to one.
  13. Poland is a modern military with a professional army and modern equipment. Russia have taken about 100km of territory in 18 months of war against a country a third their size with absolutely no natural defences. Poland wins that battle every time.
  14. In the Telegraph: Didn't realise that Delhi was in England.
  15. Scotstoun with Temporary Stands, maybe? Facilities is one thing but the cost of organising will be a lot. Even the Cycling Worlds are costing £50m and they probably have a bigger ROI in terms of Global Reach (more athletes too), and all they needed built was some new trails in Glentress. You'd be looking at least £300m for the Commies and that's excluding Athletics I do like the idea of spreading it about Scotland though, rather than just Glasgow.
  16. Sorry it's that rag, but Christchurch look like they want to step in: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12312517/Christchurch-offers-host-2026-Commonwealth-Games-Victoria-pulled-out.html
  17. I don't think so, but I think they certainly could make it work. Might have to be done a la Hampden. They've got an International Pool and Hockey Venues in Cardiff Bay, Velodrome in Newport and Sophia Gardens for Cricket.
  18. Crap news this, I worked with a few athletes that went to Birmingham and Gold Coast, and it's massive for them in keeping their funding for training and going to competitions, and a few went on to compete at Tokyo and are likely to be heading to Paris. Really hope someone can come in. The fault is completely on the Australians, why they insisted on keeping all the venues outside Melbourne was mental. Events like track cycling should have been held in Melbourne, where there was existing infrastructure, instead they were going to build a temporary velodrome in Bendigo. Would really love to see Cardiff host it - they certainly could do it, and there was chat of them going for 2030.
  19. They call it the Widowmaker for a reason...
  20. The SPFL are weirdly strict over rights use, the BBC only have partial rights for radio broadcast as well, hence why they don't have live comms of every game. There was a few years when Bauer had live comms of all 3pms.
  21. Had a look at what they're doing to replace the Cricket World Cup League 2 for the next few years, and it seems utterly silly that Scotland will remain in the same diddy league, below Ireland and Windies after beating them both in this tournament. They're ditching the top league, but this whole World Cricket League makes it much harder for Scotland to play series against comparable nations, and instead have to play Nepal and the USA in series constantly.
