  1. Good to see reasonable level of support for Ian Murray on here. We keep hearing that managers/players should be judged on results! At the Jags we have a few fans who still want McCall sacked but if we follow the mantra that football is all about results then both McCall and Murray can be judged as doing a very good job! Again best of luck v Morton. Hope you thump them and have Jags and Diamonds in next seasons Championship.
  2. I have a friend who is an Airdrie fan and who has, in every respect, been very critical on your manager. My friend has been consistent in asserting "Murray is a poor manager and Airdrie won't be promoted"! As a Jag I have referred him to your good form and great run of results but he insists manager is crap and no promotion! Having just read Murray's comments following last night's game I am coming round to the opinion the guy is unreal and my friend is correct. After all who am to challenge the opinion of a life long Airdrie fan! In particular Murray's comment about the Thistle goal at Firhill from a set piece costing Airdrie the league title is laughable and very selective. In that one game he ignores the fact that Airdrie were battered in the first half and were only 1-0 down at half time due the the best goalkeeping display seen at Firhill in years. Also the absolute sitter Tiffoney missed late in the second half at 1-0! You can't look at one game or one goal and ignore the rest of the season. For example, prior to the suspension of football the Jags had 15 points from 10 games but in that 10 games we had up to 6/7 players out due to injury! All of whom would have been in the team or on the bench! McCall described the injury situation as the worst he had known in 22 years in management. Following Murray's comment about a single goal should/can I say that had all of our players been available the League would have been won with 10 games to spare! Falkirk fans, quite rightly, will point out they had in the second half of the season a similar injury crisis and that is why they imploded losing 6 or 7 of their last 8 or so games! Looking back I think Jags Fans should be thinking we in fact did well getting 15 points from 10 games whereas Falkirk managed only around 4/6! IMO Airdrie were never realistic title winners but were a good bet for 2nd or 3rd - and so it proved! My thanks to you for knocking out Cove (don't like them) and I look forward to an Airdrie win at Cappilow and joining us in the Championship. Please though make sure your Manger gets his vaccination but include a dose of perspective, realism and above all common sense. Best of luck!
  3. Hamilton to win both remaining games v Killie (H) & Ross Co (A) to finish on 36 points Ross Co to also to lose Away to Motherwell to finish on 33 points Killie v St Mirren - this is a difficult one to call! I think a draw the likely out come to give Killie 33 points. Final places and points will be: Hamilton 36 (they always find a way) Killie 33 (on goal difference) Ross Co 33 (automatically relegated) I am sure Hearts on the way up will say something to County on the way down about 'medicine' I would expect Killie to survive the Play-off games v Airdrie!
  4. Can anyone tell me what's happened to Brophy! Haven't seen his name in a match squad for a while. Is he injured?
  5. If I haven't expressed myself well enough perhaps you could guess and give me some clues about how I might improve my post?
  6. As I have said before Dundee used to be one of my favourite clubs but after the stab in the back last summer - no more! As I will never set foot inside Dens again I am looking forward to crossing swords with you lot next season at Firhill. The result won't matter just as long as Dundee are still in the Championship that will do me! Will be very disappointed if you fluke promotion so saying my prayers every night to the big chief not to give you promotion! It's difficult though someone has to get promoted and I and not sure which I dislike most Dundee/Nelms or Rsith/Clark. Some comfort in the fact both of you can't go up to the SPL C'Mon the Pars!
  7. You guys were shafted, like us by the SPFL, last summer. We will remember the support you gave us and your refusal to contribute to the legal costs of Raith, Cove and the Arabs. I hope and fully expect the Jags to field the strongest team possible. Apparently we now have 5 injured players, some of whom shouldn't have played v Falkirk on Thursday. Nevertheless I am confident we will do our best to prevent a Montrose win next Tuesday! Best of luck in the playoff games.
  8. To all Falkirk fans. I am delighted as a Jag Fan to have won tonight's game and automatic promotion. I am however not gloating or rubbing in this result as I remember, and always will, that your club, Falkirk, together with East Fife, Peterhead and (perhaps) Dumbarton supported us last year in our attempts to fight that unfair relegation. While I believe we should never have been relegated in that manner I also believe Raith should never have been promoted ahead of Falkirk. You were shafted by the SPFL just as much as we were. I hope you can regroup and get promoted via the play-off games. I will be cheering you on and I know many Jag Fans will be doing the same. Keep the faith - it's not over til the fat lady sings. Best of luck.
  9. Agree! Saturday's ref (Grant Irvine) was excellent. He let the game flow and simply ignored foul but harmless physical challenges and what you might call technical fouls whether or not the player went to ground. Tiffoney went down a few times - no foul! I thought it was hilarious when the Airdrie player was fouled just outside our box and the ref waved play on as the ball broke to another Airdrie player. When the move broke down the fouled Airdrie player wanted his foul and even after being warned still badgered the ref. Result yellow card. Enjoyed that! Best ref I have seen in a long time.
  10. Perhaps one of the reasons you haven't been impressed by the Jags so far might have something to do with what McCall described as the worst injury crisis in 20 years in management. Prior to the suspension of the lower leagues we had, every week, a minimum of 7 players not available for selection. The suspension actually enabled us to get all but one player back to fitness. We haven't bearen Cove yet and to be honest I will gladly take a draw on Tuesday. On the other hand games v Cove have been tight so far! Today v Airdrie we were dead on our feet after 65 mins and it looks like we will be missing our midfield for Tuesday due to injury. So you will be favourites. However if we can field a strong team which is by no means certain, then you know you have been in a game.
  11. A lot being said about how bad Thistle (and Falkirk) have been this season. I agree to some extent but this needs some qualification. Prior to the suspension of the lower leagues Thistle from the start of the season had up to 7/8 players injured every week in what McCall described as the worst injury crisis he had known in 20 odd years in management. I have no doubt at all that this contributed to our patchy form and poor individual performances. The suspension of the lower leagues actually helped us get all of our players fit excluding O'Ware who has been injured forever! We have been unbeaten since football resumed and our form in the last 5 games has been great. 5 wins 13 goals, 0 goals conceded and 15 points. Today though the games schedule caught up with us a bit and we ran out of steam for the last 30 odd minutes. Airdrie did hit the post so perhaps we were fortunate not to concede a goal. However at no time in this difficult 30 mins did Airdrie play through our defence nor was our keeper called upon to make any saves beyond punching a ball away. We on the other hand cut through Airdrie a couple of times and in fact missed a sitter in the closing minutes before Airdrie hit the post! We (Falkirk, Cove and Airdrie) have all played the same number of games and we enjoy a 4 point lead for the moment. We can't be that bad!
  12. Glad to read your comment about winning a free kick or a throw-in and Thistle players throwing or kicking the ball away! I am delighted to hear that we have been working on this aspect of our game and that it's finally bearing fruit! If think we are guilty of this sort of play you better hope you don't in the future play Alloa, QoS, Morton & Ayr to name but a few!
  13. Pure raging, did gowser shag your bird. Your change of vote demoted us you shower of.............
  14. Come on ICT hope you hammer this lot! A once proud but now shabby club! I ook at results every week hoping to see a Dundee defeat. Been a good season so far! And to think I used to like this club!
  15. Hearts 6 Back Stabbers 2. Bitter I know but what the hell! With any luck (and a big improvement in our team) we will see you next year in the championship!
  16. As A Jag thought Hearts were fantastic! Just think there is another 6 points to be won and at least 8/9goals to score against this two faced, back stabbing club!
  17. What is unlucky about 8 players sitting round a table drinking alcohol in a crowded pub. There is nothing unlucky about it. These players, low IQ or not, have been stupid, irresponsible, selfish and reckless! They knew the rules and like that other idiot Leigh Griffiths, completely ignored them. These players decided the rules that applied to everyone else didn't apply to them. Total arrogance on their part. The behaviour of the players has put lives at risk! That is unforgiveable! They deserve all the criticism they are getting and everything that's coming. No excuses!
  18. That's the point - we shouldn't be down at all and certainly not in these circumstances. Look in making my feelings known I do not forget the fact that for the better part of 3 years we have been very poor so we are partly to blame for our demise! But if Nelms had held the line and kept to his word things might have been different! We might in the end still have been relegated but Nelms renaging on his word made things much easier for the SPFL and so much more difficult for H, PT & S! It also leaves a feeling of being stabbed in the back by someone considered a friend! Clearly the days of a man's word being his bond are in the past. You are correct though and although we still have the SFA to face., it's time to move on and channel our efforts to getting a decent team onto the park to get us back to the championship and eventually the SPL. However I doubt this episode in our 144 year history will be forgotten by any Jag and the key part played by not just the SPFL but also particular Clubs and People!
  19. My last word on this farcical summer. During the debate following the now infamous April vote I laid into Nelms for breaking the agreement he had with my club, Partick, and ICT. I suggested he was a dishonourable individual. This of course didn't go down well with Dundee fans some of whom even disputed there was an agreement. That there was an agreement cannot now be disputed! I was asked by a Dundee fan what I would think of Nelms if his change of course actually led to league reconstruction and saved Partick! Feeling that reconstruction was never going to happen, I said I would reserve judgement! Well the whole sorry process has now been drawn to a conclusion, except for the fact that we and Hearts still have an SFA judicial review to face where I expect we will be hammered! So what do I think of Nelms? Well he broke an agreement so he is a dishonourable individual. He is also untrustworthy. Of that there can be no doubt. He also found himself out of his depth trying to deal with the SPFL, which is saying something given the ineptness and incompetence they have shown. He also showed a complete lack of character by being bullied into changing his vote a decision which ultimately relegated Hearts, Partick and Stranraer. Nelms saw an opportunity to sit 'at the top table' and to be one of the 'big hitters' and ultimately to be a Kingmaker (Lachlan Cameron's Ayr Utd Chairman description) instead he turned out to be the Court Clown. I used to consider Dundee my second club. From the Alan Gilzean team (yes I am that old) onwards I had nothing but good feelings for the club. I am afraid all that is gone. I know it won't make the slightest difference to Dundee but I will never attend a Dundee match again nor wish the club well! I can only say I regret that my views about Nelms have also influenced my feelings for the club but that's the way it is. So I have answered the question!
  20. I am actually hoping that this is what Nelmes is doing so if he votes yes with this outcome in mind I would thank him and be very grateful for all things Dundee. Unfortunately I don't see what guarantees/assurances he can extract from the SPFL that would ensure delivery of league reconstruction. The above then takes me to my only problem with your comment and that would be one of trust - not with Nelmes/Dundee whom I am sure would be acting in good faith, but with the SPFL. After events of the last few days would you trust the SPFL?
  21. Accept its not the treat of Rome but the ICT step by step account clearly shows it was more than just a chat! You don't discuss presenting a 'unified/United front' as the result of a chat! You do this when you have reached an agreement. I would like to thank Dundee for at least taking it this far and for uniting with thistle up to a point - its much more than others have done. Anyway if Dundee vote yes don't worry you won't be alone in 'suffering' the withdrawal of my financial support and empathy! Raith Rovers, Forfar, St Mirren, Celtic and others are on the list which is growing daily. I know it won't make any difference to these clubs but it will make me feel better. Hopefully Dundee will honour the agreement and I will still be able to respect and like the club and continue to visit Dens - which I do even when Thistle are not the visitors!
  22. Could be - or Dundee are playing a cute game. If they change their vote to yes and given revelations from ICT about the agreement with ICT & Partick they will forever be held in contempt by many in Scottish Football and especially in Inverness and the North of Glasgow. Words like untrustworthy and dishonourable would seem appropriate. Dundee fans won't like it but fact is they will have broken an agreement without having the courtesy of advance notice to their partners. Can't get much lower than that! Think it's called 'a stab in the back'. On the other hand perhaps Dundee are trying to screw as much out of the SPFL while still intending to honour agreement with ICT & Partick. For example, immediate distribution of prize money and guarantees about restructuring the leagues or some other proposal. It will either be - well played Dundee or - you are dishonourable, untrustworthy and Dundee's reputation will be forever tarnished. I hope Dundee behave honourably as I have always had a soft spot for them. If not then I have made my last visit to Dens and the soft becomes a hard spot! Not that it will make any difference to Dundee. Expect all will be revealed this week!
  23. Looking forward to this game. Should be entertaining. I am going 3-1 Thistle but they need to get a grip of Midfield and Hemmings. Would like our 'January signings' who are joining us in the summer to be in the team now!!
  24. Well very thought provoking. Yes agree ICT had more possession of the ball and although many of my fellow Jags will disagree with me, I thought ICT were the better moving team over the 94/95 minutes. But......... First half Ridgers had two cracking saves (as did Fox) and Second half how many times did we cut through your defence on the counter attack 4/5 - it was knife through butter stuff. Not bad for the worst team you have seen this season (did you feel the same when we beat you 3-1at Inverness?)
  25. Football fans will have different opinions of individual players and I respect this. In general though the worrying factor for me as a life-long Jags fan is, assuming we have a much bigger budget than Arbroath, how can they field a team of individuals who look and play like footballers while we field a team of what appears to be very limited, one dimensional and slow (thinking, anticipating and moving) individuals. Exceptions to my description possibly are Bannigan, Penrice and Miller. Kakay has potential and promised much when he ran at defenders but he needed his team mate to move into space to receive a pass or take defenders away from him - not just stand and watch him.
