Goodness me you are bitter. Unlike you though I won't give you a red dot for expressing an opinion.

We are not talking about Cups. Has there ever been a League game suffer a forfeit for 'not being able to fulfil a fixture'. Maybe you could tell us when.

I could be completely wrong but St Mirren asked for the game to be postponed but the SPFL did not sanction it, then St Mirren said they could not field a team for what ever reason COVID suspensions and injuries being sited.

the only decision that could be taken , but one thing very concerning is the wosfl were going to carry on regardless , i find that incredible

Probably a couple of clubs threatening legal action if anyone other than SFA or government pulled the plug

I will now go and leave you to discuss how expert you all are and how the real experts have it all wrong... Ps. Are any of your teams actually competing this year ?? If not why are you even bothered... and why have your club allowed players to go on loan elsewhere??

Enjoy the rest of  the season, as long as it continues. If/ when the real experts pull the plug then fair enough, while all you "self proclaimed experts" are asking for an end to the season... Forgive me for not listening. Unless any of you can pull a degree in Virology or Public Health out of your pocket....

Was speaking to a Conference B President/Chairman call him what you like yesterday. His team are playing and the reason they wanted to play was that they were expecting fans back in by end of October. Players coaching staff are not taking a penny from the club which they are grateful for otherwise they would be in some pickle financially as officials, insurance, utilities and training facilities still have to be paid. They now have drainage problems again with their park a lot of time ,effort and money spent last year and he thinks it will be months before they are able to play a home game, meaning more money to rent other grounds to play home games. He was scathing of the League Management Committee and accused them of putting their heads in the sand and hoping the weather comes to their rescue over the next few weeks rather than them having to make a decision. If a vote was taking today wether to play on it was his opinion that the majority of teams would call it a day.

The amount of people on here who are "Stop the Season" advocates, can I suggest you just stay off this forum and go do something else. Can I ask, do you also go on shopping forums asking why Supermarkets are allowed to stay open for non essential items? I would feel way safer at a game of football outside, than I would wandering round Asda, Tesco or the like, whilst people buy an esential plate, tumbler or pair of socks. If you are not happy that football is still on, just stay away and give everybody else peace and quiet. Unless you are Jason Leitch on here, I don't think anybody actually cares.

Look mate … … your right this is a WoSFL football forum and this topic is about “ Cancel the Season “

I would suggest that if your not interested in other people view in regard to this topic … Then don’t read or comment on it !!!

Going by some of your posts I doubt that you have enough grey matter between yours ears to understand this point

    Answer the questions.

Reason that some clubs started was because they thought fans would be able to return by the end of October. There is now no chance of them returning this season.

Regarding the “Professional “ status of these team … have you been on the moon for the last 20 years they never have been professional and never will be.
As stated they are a part-time clubs with players from all walks of life plumbers, joiners, shop workers, bankers, police, firemen etc. run by local volunteers No one is making a living from playing at this level. I could go on but it would probably be to much for you to take in.

That is your opinion on it but not necessarily the opinion of everyone else.
The media frenzy fuelled by government propaganda and announcements on this has scared people into believing how dangerous this strain of the flu actually is.
You keep believing whatever you want and leave the teams who choose to play on to get on with it.
No one forces players or management or committees to go to games the do so of their own choice.
The vast majority of teams chose to play this season so that might be a better indication of what people feel on the matter.

The deaths of a further 93 people who had tested positive for Covid-19 have been recorded in the past 24 hours - the highest daily total since the pandemic began

There were also 1,530 people in hospital, higher than the peak of 1,520 last April

Don’t let your craving to try and get into the playoffs get in the way of the facts.
You’ve got to do it this year as you’ve no chance next year when a full compliment of clubs are back playing.

Why did they start the season if they feel so strongly about it? Why don’t they withdraw if they feel so strongly about it? Why only now do they wish to query the professional status?

Have you been on the moon for the last 6 weeks !!!!!

  8. Dalbeattie Star, whose manager, Ritchie Maxwell, works in the NHS, said in a statement: "We are classed as elite professional players, but no provision is available for Covid testing at our level. "We do, however, query the professional status as we are a part-time club and all players have other careers out with football. "Like all clubs in the league, we would love to be able to be able to complete this season in a timely manner, but the safety of our committee, management team, players and of course the people of our local community is of more concern than football."

Never truer words spoken, again someone who is seeing the bigger picture of what is going on in the ground.

Yes understand your point but again, no facts are there that state football is a contributing factor in the spread of the virus.
The clubs are staying within the guidelines and the clubs and WOSFL are going on what is asked of them from the government and SFA.
If the Government and SFA say only club that they their players can continue then most will stop but that hasn't happened yet

I can see football at LL level and below  either pausing or stopping this season but as I stated there's no FACTUAL contributing factors that football is spreading the virus

Agree re no Factual contributing factors but what about the Common Sense contributing factors …… Do we just ignore them ???

The JRG could also ask themselves: "are we fit for purpose, or have we f*cked this up and enabled Celtic to bend the rules for a completely non-essential trip, bringing the game into disrepute?"

The mere fact that the JRG deem that the WoSFL (former juniors ) to be professional teams deems them not fit for purpose

The big picture is that Nicola Sturgeon has closed down most access to schools until February to keep the R0 number down until the vaccinations start to have an effect, because that is a genuine high risk source of mass community transmission that could no longer be ignored in the context of the new variant. If 900,000 vaccine doses are available by the end of this month we should (if there are no unexpected issues with vaccine efficacy) be turning the corner in a big way on hospitalisation and mortality numbers in about 6 weeks or so.

What happens with professional football is not likely to be in any way significant in big picture terms because it is a very low risk activity when the protocols are followed properly involving a tiny portion of the overall population at this point unlike schools which are much higher risk and involve a very significant portion of the population who can easily go on to spread it to their parents.

New restrictions have been placed on outdoor gatherings in level four areas, with only two people from separate households now permitted to meet up.

Travel restrictions remain in place between local authority areas and in and out of Scotland, and people have been urged to stay as close to home as possible when going out for exercise.

There  are more than 90 patients in intensive care units in recent days, with new modelling suggesting that figure could more than double by early February. The modelling sets out different scenarios with the most pessimistic predicting hospitals admissions could soar to more than 8,000 with over 700 patients requiring intensive care. The document also revealed that Inverclyde - which a few weeks ago had relatively low levels of Covid - now has the highest case rate, almost 550 per 100,000 - East Ayrshire, East Renfrewshire, North Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire all now have case rates exceeding 300 per 100,000.

But hey ho the WoSFL are elite professional sportsmen so let’s just carry on regardless. Not saying they should  abandon the season but the management committee of the leagues should grow a pair and suspend the leagues until this current lockdown is over.

Most of the teams at this level (not all) are community based and rely on that community for their very existence and If they keep on playing through this lockdown it could come back to bite them in the future.

suppose teams with a grass park have no chance of training unless access to an indoor training facility or an astro park.
Some astro parks might be useable with a little breakup, either a warm up session over half the park or the club buggy to run over the park brushing it.

only guessing on  my part though

Surely indoor training is not permitted ??

With everything up in the air its hard to guess but in all honesty, any level that is allowed to continue training and playing this week

That’s a good point regarding training  ……… take it there is no indoor training and with parks frozen solid even the all weather one’s… where and what training are teams doing ??

I suggest you look at the furlough rules. Furlough is to stop you being made redundant by your Employer. You can work for another Employer during the time you are on furlough. Look at the amount of people that too up working in supermarkets or delivery drivers during the first lockdown.

    https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/work/coronavirus-being-furloughed-if-you-cant-work/

Agreed but only if there paying the tax and insurance on that payment and not receiving it in a brown envelope or via expenses

Think they lease it from some community/council group

Yeah Lobby I agree with you about turkey voting for xmas but eventually it will change. its harming Scottish Football and are the blazers prepared to allow it to happen, They are at the moment but eventually there will be a shift change and it will happen.    Want to see everything under SP|FL 2 get their houses in order and organized>

lets put it this way, the teams that have went up in recent years, will they vote on the SPFL side or the lower league sides, Edinburgh City for example, which way would they vote. I could see them voting for promotion and relegation between Highland/Lowland league and SPFL and each year the promotion wize, I will expect the winners to be form the Highland and Lowland league and I'm sure the team moving up would vote for the lower levels having access.  Quite clearly if Brechin vote against it and they finish bottom, then they will play off against the winner of the Highland league or the Lowland league and id put my money on Brechin going down, Their if their elf centered chairman or Stenhousemuir self centered chairman has voted against lower level team coming up then their teams will find it years and years before they ever come back up, which personally I will love.

East Stirling and Berwick Rangers are in it and admit they will find it hard to get back up with many of their fans stating they are at the right level

The voting structure in the SPFL will take years to change with the way it was set up.
When the SPFL was setup these teams could see the writing on the wall and the voting structure was setup accordingly.  11-1 for example

Also the playoffs within the SPFL leagues was setup in favour of the team in the higher league

Think they call it self preservation

You will have teams trying to get licensed in time for this season in the hope of winning the WOSFL premier division but only 1 can win the title and if they are licensed then they can be put forward to the playoffs.  I can see Clydebank, Darvel etc... trying to win the league now as in next season, if all Covid goes to plan and all the big hitters will be back, Pollok, Auchinleck then it will be harder to win the league next season.

Right now, I wouldn't want a club to go all out as we don't know if and when everything is back to normal as in, fans, crowds, full sponsorships etc... unless the club know its financially viable to do so now.  Personally for any club, I don't see a rush, as I take it most clubs will be looking to run for another hundred year and new clubs intend to do the same so they can get licensed any time when ready to start. I would like them to get licensed knowing they can fully support the outlay and even later the benefits that possible may come e.g television money from the big Scottish cup.   Running floodlights etc.. Obviosity has costs but some of these team, Clydebank and Yoker for example will have the park used constantly for their youth academy thus generating money from this to go towards payments

The only problem I can see is that the SFA make it harder to become licensed but I'd rather they look at the closed shop attitude of the SPFL2 clubs and override their votes, somehow and state that promotion, relegation to and from SPFL2 should and will happen every year in the not to distant future. There should and I genuinely expect in that there will be automictic promotion from other winners of the Highland and Lowland league as the standards will be strong against the SPFL 2 teams or even stronger. Casing point this year, Brora Rangers from the Highland league putting Albion Rovers out and Linlithgow Rose putting Brechin City out.
We all know theres a few things to be ironed out, for example, there should be leagues under the main highland league, tayside teams sorted, the North junior teams sorted etc..

Do Clydebank and Yorker own Holm Park ???  Or do they just rent it

With regards the SPFL2 clubs whilst I agree with you would need a rule change and Turkeys aren’t going to vote for Xmas

St Mirren admitted certain things happened but did not admit that they were responsible. For example in the car sharing the Club did not tell players to car share and when they found out it happened they told the players to stop. But admitted it did happen. And two weeks ago on Off The Ball Jason Leitch said car sharing could be allowed if it was the only way someone could get to their employment. So are the rules not clearly defined? Other Clubs have had players break rules with no comeback on the Clubs involved (Dundee Utd and Celtic team photos for example; Rangers players going to a party).

St Mirren literally did not have 13 players available to play the games as we had a small pool and a horrendous injury list and suspensions and everyone else in isolation. We had players who did have Covid and were effected by it only recently claiming that they are feeling back to normal. St Mirren did not have enough to make a squad. If we had 13 players available the games would have been played.

Hamilton are playing Celtic today without 10 players who are either injured or suspended

  18. 2 minutes ago, IrishBhoy said:

At the time of St Mirrens first postponed game 3 players had Covid, they had more than enough players to fulfil the fixture. It was the governments regulations on self-isolation which didn’t allow the game to go ahead, however they come to the conclusion on which players need to isolate. So for all intents and purposes, the game was postponed on the governments say so.

Napoli had their 3-0 forfeiture overturned because local government forbid them travelling to the game. There’s not a massive difference between that and governments restrictions in this country not allowing St Mirren/Kilmarnock players travelling to a game they were willing to play.

This takes me back to my previous point re the investigation ………. What exactly were the clubs told by test & trace and were the whole club told to isolate

Still think both St Mirren and Killie were at it ( due to suspensions and injures ) and thought they could get away with it.

Remind me just how long the investigation took  before they came up with the punishment ???
