  1. Gordon Ritchie confirmed that the budget was originally less than last season, so it's on the record that at the time Dougie was deciding who to offer contracts to that his budget was less than what Gus was given the previous season. *Removed this paragraph as reeks of " I know something you don't know" energy which I hate. *
  2. I personally don't think the likes of giving Blues, Muirhead etc new contracts is a black mark against Imrie. When you're informed your budget is cut a substantial amount from the previous season and you've got multiple players already on bottom end full time wages at the club who you know what they're going to give you and have performed admirably for you already then it makes sense to keep them rather than take a risk trying to find cheap gems from places. Their replacements would have been straight out the Gillespie/Quitongo market that no one else at our level is competing with us in. We were in for a player earlier in the summer and fucking Stenhousmuir were offering them more money than us. That's just the level of finance the club is at now and we need to get used to it until there's any extra outside investment. The reality is Imrie has had to learn to accept that as well as the summer has went on. It will be interesting to see how long he's willing to accept it if we start the season poorly.
  3. Mobility a bit of an issue and he was one of the reasoks we were forced in to a back five with him because of it. Pretty consistent though and an excellent leader and organiser of the defence, which was probably the main reason he was guaranteed to play under Dougie when fit. It's genuinely too hard to say how he will do for you as he's definitely on the limits age wise already before this season and if you play a back four then I'd be worried, but alternatively if he turned out to be a leader and rock at the back for you next season I wouldn't be overly surprised.
  4. No idea because you've said that the club wanted to keep them but also that they've been released which contradicts each other. In general though an age group system with the club wanting to keep the best players from the final age group and integrate them around the first team sounds just as credible a plan of having a reserve/21s/19s team playing non competitive games. I'd put our inclusion of young players in our first team squad up against most teams in the country.
  5. If we wanted to keep the best of them then surely that confirms the system is functioning fine?
  6. Ugwu had a baby this summer and wanted to move down south so his transfer window is obviously not going as well as he hoped. He was one of our highest earners as well so just hope he can get a good deal somewhere. Cracking player on his day and still an absolute nuisance when he's not at his best. Out of the 27 former Morton players signed in recent years I would put him as the most likely to succeed out of all of them if he signs.
  7. Would have preferred him in this and the beanie hat just to complete the no fucks given attitude.
  8. Consider that revenge for convincing the world that Hopkin was a decent manager.
  9. Will there be highlights of your hilariously sounding own goal?
  10. You've really let down the cinch down here with a normal strip.
  11. Last I heard Arbroath wouldn't release him and wanted money for him, so unless he's able to convince them before end of window then I don't see a world where we would spend money on a player, especially of his age. Would love to have him in the squad though so who knows.
  12. Talented but very frustrating player. Has about 5 games a season where you think there's a real player there but flatters to deceive mostly. He keeps the ball extremely well but that's because he usually holds on to it 5+ seconds longer than he should and slows down counter attacks. Not a player that's ever been particularly disliked by Morton fans as he tries hard and doesn't do an awful lot wrong, but equally most Morton fans would have been happy enough to see him leave during any summer he's been with us, but especially this summer.
  13. It's more than assumption though isn't it? Dougie offered every single key member of the squad new deals, and Reilly was one of the most key players under him. If championship and league one teams were competing for him there's almost a zero percent chance that we weren't one of them.
  14. Was that Hamilton game not the game he was flung in to the middle of a back three for the first time and looked lost? He was then swapped with McLean and moved out to the left and looked absolutely fine again. Other than that I don't really remember any other nightmarish performances from him off the top of my head or major troubles reading the game tbh.
  15. Ash Taylor is a bit of a donkey but he'd worked with Derek Mcinnes before at Aberdeen and he said the team needed more height when he was appointed so made sense. Mcentee has everything you need to be a success at league one/two level at least, and that's with only one season of professional football under his belt. Fast, strong, brave and good on the ball. There was no way we were ever going to be able to keep him this season. Compare that to Tom Allan who we also had on loan from Newcastle and was the one tipped as far too good for our level, who turned out to be like a lost little boy in men's football up here and got sent home early. I'm sure the Scottish Championship won't have a great reputation amongst some league 2 fans who have never watched it, but the majority of teams are probably around the same level quality wise as mid-table to lower league 2/top of vanorama national. The last player to go to league 2 from us was Nicky Cadden who's tore it up down there and was in the team of the year this season. Regan Hendry from Raith won the league this season as well, and there are plenty examples over the years of players moving from this league to England and being a success.
  16. A year where you equate people questioning someone's character to their skin colour with zero self awareness that the casual racism is actually coming from your stereotyping and linking rumours about his past to the colour of his skin rather than the seperate people who have put (admittedly rumours) on the thread with no connection at all to what race he is?
  17. Seem to remember a rumour that Quitongo left Aberdeen before joining us because he was caught stealing from the dressing room or something? Doesn't seem to be the greatest character in the world and any claims of racism have to be taken extremely seriously but I wouldn't automatically give him the benefit of trusting his word just because he's a black man, especially as the fans he's accusing already have history with his brother over something similar. Good on him for getting right up Airdrie fans with the tears comment though. Big fan.
  18. You have signed Jamie Brandon from hearts that was on loan at us last season. Very decent right back that can move in to midfield when required. If he can keep his fitness then he should be a good signing for you.
  19. If I remember correctly it was the same with our goal cam footage in our 5-0 win over them earlier in the season too. Not a peep out of anyone after any goal, not even the customary pointing fingers and blaming people for your mistake. Just stood there and accepted it. No real surprise to me that this group of players bottled the playoffs.
  20. I'd hate for EPL fans it lose respect for the Scottish Premier League. I cherish how high a regard they currently hold it in.
  21. Can't even blame Beaton for how shite Killie have been. They've been bullied in to playing a different game just like against us at cappielow the other week.
