  1. That's because he was playing so deep today, all those high balls were for Shep. However, maybe I should've said "decent" rather than "good."
  2. Overall I enjoyed my day in Kelty, nice ground and had a nice chat with some Kelty fans. At HT I thought it still up for grabs but after their goal we didn't offer anything. That double HT sub was risky but most definitely paid off. Agyeman exploited Anderson excellently I thought, he couldn't compete with Munro but had the pace and agility over Anderson and that got them the goal, and Philp was devastating on the wing. When Doris came on we knew it was all over. Matty is a good target man, McCluskey is great cutting in and Shep just runs about. I think in January we need a different type of striker to give us different options. Does John Baird fancy spending another 6 months in Scotland?
  3. Underwhelming first half. Matty is playing really deep which I can understand why he's been asked to play like that, but we've been playing too many long and high balls which Shepherd cannot win. Thankfully Kelty are doing the same meaning Andy is comfortably winning every ball that comes into the box, so Austin hasn't really had a chance. Kelty are the better side at the moment, could still go either way.
  4. He started last week. Came off after 20 minutes with a groin strain according to Irvine's interview. Don't know if he'll be back today.
  5. Guess so, was trying to figure out how 5 goes into 4.
  6. Austin double, 3 pens for Higgy? Does that mean Austin score an OG or does Higgy take some Forfar penalties, or will Higgy miss a penalty? Either way that'd be a cracking match, seven goal thriller!
  7. It should be on telly, but I'll be taking my first visit to Kelty anyway. It really is best attack versus best defense. I think it'll be another draw, however, we could well give Kelty their first defeat in the league.
  8. One argument I neglected in my comparison between Mackenzie and Strachan is that I only saw Jack play under Malcs (haven't seen Jack in an Aberdeen shirt) so I probably see more promise in Strachan because he has a better manager, who is using his strengths. Poor Jack was probably told by the last gaffer to stay back, hoof it and hope that it goes somewhere near an unfit Steven Doris
  9. Last season we had Jack Mackenzie on loan from Aberdeen, he was decent for us and returned to the Don's in January and became a first team regular. Strachan, on the other hand has been playing (IMO) better than Mackenzie, and his set pieces have become really helpful for us. (4 assists in 3 games or something similar). He could probably be in and around the first team, however, please let us keep him for the whole season as he's our only LB. Fisher had been decent before his injury but with Anderson and Travis back fully fit, he'll probably not partner Munro in defence again.
  10. To start with I thought we'd push, then I thought it was too much, now seeing we're 2nd and playing well, I honestly don't know. As @SlipperyP said, how we do at New Central Park will give me a better idea. The main difference I've noticed between the two sides (only by looking at latest scores on BBC Sports) is that Forfar appear to dominate but can then concede late on (cue montage of all our 1-0 up at HT, 1-1 at FT results) whereas Kelty could be drawing until late on, but then snatch a winner. As @nofixedability said, our inability to kill games off could be our downfall. We may well have nearly as many points as Kelty come end of the season but most of our results will be 1-0, 2-1, 2-0. Kelty have the ability to win some games 4 or 5 nil.
  11. Hester was on the bench. With the weather it was never going to be a pretty game, but didn't see Stenny beating Stirling but, massive thank you Stenny!
  12. What a FK from Slater, deserved a goal. Thankfully Andy headed it home from the resulting corner. Much improvement needed second half.
  13. Oh whoops, thanks for the correction. Yes, very windy, could Marc McCallum score from a goalkick?
  14. Forfar are in decent form, Elgin aren't. So in theory it should be an easy 3 points but Forfar have only lost 1 game and that was against Elgin, so that's at the back of my mind. However, I'm going to say a 2-0 victory for Forfar.
  15. I think Gary has made a very decent squad. We already knew we had a very strong defence, and Strachan has slotted in well and his set piece deliveries are improving. Craig Slater is just immense, however, I'm always nervous that he's going to pick up an injury and be sidelined for a few months. Our wingers are great, especially Thomson, but PJ and Grant have also done well. Stefan started the season slow (he did pick up an injury at the start if I remember correctly) but has become fairly clinical in front of goal. Matty did the opposite starting the season on fire but then had a dip (which coincided with our run of 1-0 up at HT to concede an equaliser late in the second) but thankfully he seems to be coming into a run of form. Oh, and finally, how could I forget, Gary Harkins is deserving a ballon d'or nomination!
  16. Looks like we worked hard for that. Look forward to watching the highlights!
  17. Weather forecast looks okay for Stranraer tomorrow afternoon, although flood warnings there tonight.
  18. Glad they but plenty of replays in the highlights, let's us have a proper look at the referee's howling mistakes!
  19. A 2-0 win, we'll take that. Into the next round. Munro being sent off means he'll miss the next cup game, but will he also miss next week's league game?
  20. We must go full strength. Any replay would be next Saturday meaning a midweek trip to Stranraer instead! That's even worse! Definitely win in 90 and move onto the next round.
  21. Cup day tomorrow. Surely we'll win, and nit concede a late equaliser making us have to play on Tuesday night. Wonder if we'll play a full strength side or if it'll be rotatated.
  22. The 2nd goal was really well worked, looks good on the highlights.
  23. First half from us was dreadful but after Andy's goal and HT we definitely played better. Annan will be disappointed to not have an inevitable draw against the draw specialists but we were the deserved winners in the end. Munro and Strachan were brilliant in my opinion but Slater unsurprisingly won MOTM because he just keeps doing Craig Slater stuff! (Absolutely incredible signing for us, hopefully he'll stay injury free but with his record it's likely he'll have a spell on the physio's table at some point) All of the defence were string, I'd like to see Travis start next week in the cup and give him 90 minutes. I agree bringing Harkins on for his win bonus is laughable but as long as he only gets 5 minutes or less then I think we'll get by.
  24. It shows just how excited we are for this game. Gone is our title fight.
