  1. Nice to have positive press reporting! I don't think their predictions are wildly out. I can see Arbroath surviving another season, 7th is probably the highest they could achieve. Montrose should be in the playoff mix, although I can see League One being very tight with Falkirk, Cove & Queen's Park. Of course we want Forfar to win the league and it would be great but I think playoffs is achievable, once again League Two will be very tight. I can see it being two leagues in one (top 6 all very competitive, bottom 4 trying to stave off the basement battle) Brechin have signed some great players and probably are favourites for the Highland League, although Brora will push them. All in all, the league kicks off tomorrow and I am definitely more optimistic this season than last!
  2. I am tending to agree with @SlipperyP as I think the Loons will win. Travis will be a miss but I'm sticking my neck out saying 2-0, maybe Gallagher and Slater with the goals.
  3. Article from The Courier with their opinion of Forfar and our Angus rivals for the season ahead. Worth a read. https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/sport/football/2410783/angus-ambitions-what-can-arbroath-montrose-forfar-and-brechin-achieve/?utm_source
  4. I can't remember who it was that mentioned it here, but Doris was definitely told by Gary Irvine that he would only receive a contract if he could lose weight and prove that he could regain his fitness. Looks like Doris has acted upon it and proved himself to the manager, although I think as the league gets under way that Gallagher & Aitken are his preferred front 2, with Doris likely making 2nd half appearances depending on how the game is going.
  5. Missed the game today, what happened to Travis, he's not done his ACL again has he? Also, what a result 5-2, sure we still lost and don't progress but scoring 2 goals against premiership opposition, that's something we'd never have done last season! Fans who saw the game, how did we do?
  6. Great interview with the manager on the club website, he's well thought out and appears optimistic - provided we can be more clinical. We're making chances which we didn't do last year, but it's putting the ball in the back of the net which is his focus. https://www.forfarathletic.co.uk/item/4572-premier-sports-cup-manager-s-thoughts
  7. My bad, thought all 2nd place teams go through. I'll probably forget that again next season too
  8. I think we can be happy with our performance on Tuesday, more than matched Montrose whilst missing half the squad. A win against Brora and we're through to the knockouts.
  9. Yes, I don't believe any of our players have actually tested positive, thankfully. Maybe that's being reserved for Baxter the Bridie for when he can return to Station Park Most likely Gary is looking at signing another CM, or perhaps none of the players wanted to have the number 8 shirt.
  10. Decent first half for Forfar, had the better chances, should be 2-0 up but Munro's header hit the crossbar and Slater skying his penalty was bad, still it wasn't as high as the famous Ouzy penalty against Brechin!
  11. Surely with number of CBs we've got (I know Whyte & Anderson are still out) that Gary will be playing a back 3/5? Guess we'll see what he plays tonight.
  12. Forfar have released their kits for the coming season.
  13. We've gone for squad numbers/names on shirt?! I noticed last season that we were the only club in L1 to have 1-11 shirts. Not sure what L2 is like for squad numbers. Also where have you seen photos I've not come across anything on the website or social media yet.
  14. Forfar will release a new away kit soon. It will be a Pendle top, because they won't have a Pendle home and a different branded away top. In defence of Pendle, they have improved their range over the last few years, the newer tops are lighter, better fitted and look nicer. Haven't a clue what the new away top will be like, will they go back to white, stick with gold or choose a different colour?
  15. We're already low on match sharpness I think having had the Cove friendly cancelled also.
  16. I liked him he was a good RB for us, played at LB for the majority of the season when we signed Meechan, and then left because he wasn't as good as Meechs. Should do well in the Highland League.
  17. It's over a week late but they've put the Dundee highlights on YouTube.
  18. I imagine the LB and subby keeper will be loaned in. Defence is solid for L2 in my opinion, although we are hoping Travis, Anderson & Whyte are just as good as they were before their injuries. Midfield is good enough, however it could be susceptible to injuries. Up front if Matty continues in the form he had last season plus an actual fit Doris who can survive 90 minutes each week then we're decent, no outstanding but decent. I hoped for a league title this year but it'll most likely be a fight between Kelty and Edinburgh City for the title. We should get into the playoffs, but finishing 5th or 6th wouldn't be surprising. What I will say is, I'm fairly confident we won't do a Brechin!
  19. I see the Cove match has been cancelled due to some Cove players needing to isolate. I wonder if we're going to have an interrupted season again with games being postponed due to COVID? Hopefully everyone will have been vaccinated so players won't need to isolate for 10 days.
  20. According to Twitter we lost to Brechin City again, last night. Murray Mackintosh scoring a penalty. Hope it was a very experimental side with lots of trialists because that's not very good to be losing to Highland League opposition again.
  21. Dundee completely overpowered us in the 2nd half. Was nice to see Travis back on the pitch today, he's obviously lacking match sharpness but hopefully after a run of games he'll be back to his best.
  22. Thanks for that, having the grandson of Gordon Strachan would be cool. 1st half has been bearable, a couple half chances for Forfar, hitting the woodwork. Also, interesting corner routine we tried, standing everyone outside the 12 yard box and rushing in, typically the corner came in too late, so it didn't work.
  23. That doesn't surprise me in the slightest, whilst him and Doris were both well overweight at the start of the season at least Doris managed to lose a couple pounds. (Sounds like he's lost a lot more over this summer to win a new contract) but Mark Hill didn't shed any fat. Such a shame, Mark Hill was a fantastic player 3 years ago during his loan from Celtic, but that career decision to go to the USA backfired massively.
  24. Any wonder kids sitting in your academy that'll get us promoted?
