  1. I just picked up a digital copy of Sapiens on Google play store for £1.99. I've just read the first chapter and I'm loving it so far. The guy writes in a way that is both entertaining but also makes complex stuff easy to understand.
  2. I think that I've only ever bought one 10" single. The Feel Pain mix of It's On by Flowered Up. TBH it's not as good as the original version... As for 12 inchers, it doesn't get any better than Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go?
  3. A song that screams "ninetys". This reached the lofty position of 19 in the UK singles chart back in '93.
  4. FUN FACT - "Buffalo" refers to some dodgy 80s fashion craze dreamed up by a Dundonian designer called Ray Petri. I'm not sure what it's all about but it meant something to 80s style mags like The Face and I-D.
  5. Neneh Cherry - Buffalo Stance Original version... Reworked version... The original version was the b side of "Looking Good Diving" by Morgan McVey, which belongs in the Astonishingly Bad Song thread.
  6. I thought that was Mani. Speaking of which, a young, pre-roses Mani is in this news report of a rammy on a ferry.
  7. I once saw some guy take a really spectacular tumble down the stairs in there. It was like something from an old silent slapstick film. He kinda rolled forwards from the top of the stairs right to the bottom.
  8. Threads where people from different parts of Scotland argue over what something is called. Chippy or chipper, who fucking cares?
  9. This... ... was later reworked into this...
  10. Bitburger next. I've had this on draft when I was on holiday in Germany but I've never seen it over here before. It's a standard lager/Pilsner but to a very high standard. I'd say it's nicer than the likes of Beck's or Holstein Pils. I'm kinda surprised that you don't see it over here more often.
  11. I bought a European variety box from Beerhawk this week. 24 tins for £35 including delivery. First up is Steigl from Austria. This is very nice.
  12. That's straight out of the old firm book of excuses. "It wizny us. It was Chelsea/Hammerby fans."
  13. Captain Scott and Ernest Shackleton both took cocaine on their voyages to the Antarctic.
  14. Yip, it was called Pervitin. I read an interesting book a couple of years ago about this called Blitzed. The author also alleged that Germany's mono-testicled tyrant spent much of WW2 smashed off his pus on heroin and cocaine and that he pretty much lost interest after the Stalingrad debacle and just went though the motions of running the country.
